Hello, I am thinking about buying an element and just wanted to know what crate sizes fit side by side in the back. I have to fit 2.
Can anyone with dogs please tell me the largest sizes that fit? I don't mind having to take the back seats out completely if it makes more room for dogs.
Much Appreciated!!!

Check this thread (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41656&highlight=crate), it might just be what you're looking for.
And by the way, the E is a great choice for hauling dogs. :)

I think the floor area with seats up or out is about 44 inches wide and 57 inches form the bottom of the tail gate to the back of the front seat (with the seat all the way back) you can get two 24”x 36”crates in there. It helps if you use the crate with end and side access. You can get 4or five smaller crate in the E.

:)This was a big selling point for me! I measured and know I can get 2 400 series vari-kennels in. ( Plus room for my gear)
I have a friend wth an E and she has been able to get 3 crates in.
I run labs in Field Trials and Hunt Tests and the reason I bought my E was the ability to take it to trials and get better mileage than my big 4x4 Dodge Diesel ! Looking forward to our first trial trip in the E in a couple of weeks!

That is awesome! I have Weimaraners and need to make sure they fit. Do your 400 fit in side by side with the doors facing the back or did you have to put them in side ways?
This is the break it moment on my buying one.

I've yet to put them in mine ( the weather has been awful, but have seen it done at dog trials etc. and know it can be done. I will be doing it in the next few weeks for a trip to a Field Trial in California.)

I plan on doing the same thing, or even better, talking hubby into this...

I also do have wire crates that I use during the summer months and by measurement, they should be no issue.

Madky, in order to crate my 2 dogs (Collies -- 60-65 lbs.) I had to go with the SUV side-by-side crates so that they would fit next to each other with the doors toward the tailgate. They are 21" wide and (about) 40" deep. To get them to fit, tho, I had to use a platform underneath to boost them over the half-circle plastic thingys (whatever they are) that poke out on either side at floor level in the E. There's no room to spare width-wise, but they do juuuuuust fit! :) Let me know if you'd like a pic . . .
Enjoy! --Kellie and the Girls

whenever the wife & I bring the pups along, we use one of our 30" x 48" crates.....it fits in the E no problem & leaves us with plenty of room for our gear...

With the backseats up, I've fit two large crates side-by-side and one width-wise...
Kind of like this....

The lines are dog crates.
