Been liking Meguiars products lately and tried this on my new 08 Galaxy Gray Metallic. Was in the 70's today in the Bay Area of Ca. Went on really easy and made my E shine like glitter in the sun. Tried some ICE on some spots and wasn't even close to as easy as the Meguiars. Try it you'll like it. Rag slipped right off the fenders. Mike in Fremont, Ca.

I bought a bottle of the NXT and haven't tried it yet. Did you use it on the panels? Wait, you don't have panels, did you try it on some plastic parts?

I have used NXT before and I like it. Works very well. DO not get it on the unpainted panels or it could leave the white marks.

other than btb. you can blue tape before but If you get it on the plastic peanut butter works just let it sit then wipe off or DAWN make a product called Power dissolver spray it on and soft toothbrush scrub and rinse

I did a test section on the sun roof gasket and it did not alter the material or color. Checked it this morning after the dew dried and it still wasn't affected. Did not leave white marks where I accidentally touched the black plastic on the roof etc. But I try to be careful not to drip it on the bumpers etc.

I thought I had read on here the Turtle wax Ice was OK to use on the panels (or should I say didn't create a white mess). I was thinking maybe this new NXT was Mcquiar's answer to that.

The easiest thing I have found to dig out the wax residue in the plastic is a firm bristle dry tooth brush. Seems to be able dig into the plastic pits without causing any harm to the plastic surface finish. It's a $2 up front investment, and seems to do the trick.

Later!

From the Meguires rep. It is marketed for the trick buzz new wax thing they make huge margins on that stuff. He said Gold Class is a better wax.

The original NXT is probably on clearance because NXT version 2.0 is now shipping.

Trutle Wax ICE does not leave any white residue on plastic or trim parts. In fact, you can wax the black trim with it without any problems with the white residue.

I have used NXT but perfer ICE because of the fact of NO WHITE RESIDUE!!

Its all marketing and buzz words for sales. Walk in various stores and ask which wax is the best and you will get multiple answers. Meguiar's product are good and it kind of like oil discussions. Just as good if you use it regularly just like changing your oil and filter often. jmho

In Addition to this statement:

I use TW Ice on the panels to keep them looking new. Works great and does not leave any residue.

FWIW, I used the old generation, NXT Generation wax on the hood, and with the plastic panels, I am thinking; spray wax, what a bad idea!

But it was quick and seemed to shine quite nicely, the sun was setting the red metallic was glowing nicely.

But, since Turtle wax makes one that doesn't turn the panels white (Ice), I might try that next. I think this stuff is not bad, but most of the Meguiar's products I have used have been good. My other vehicle doesn't have clear coat on a nice dark red paint and the Cleaner Wax works great for getting the oxidized paint off in one step.

I will try this on the other vehicle. If it works this fast on it, I may start using it, it is a full size van and waxing it is a weekend project.

Nxt-It said so on the bottle/can don't use on plastic.

On a side note, ice make an interior detailer now which is weird (but can use it on glass), then what is the ice for?

And the normal line came out with a plastic safe wax, weird then what is the ice for?

I love the NXT Tech Wax. For the last year, it has been the only "real" wax that I use on my cars (I use ICE as a detailing wax/spray normally and use NXT once every two months or so). This stuff is great. It leaves no residue and the shine that it leaves behind is incredible. I have not used any of the high end waxes (zaino, poorboys, etc) but compared to the other waxes I have used, this stuff is great. It makes the cars look and feel as smooth as glass.

I could have written that better. I meant to say using an NXT spray bottle on the hood, or any other part of my LX is risky, in that it is too easy for the thing to spray onto the plastic.

What I did get on the plastic, I wiped right away and had no problem with it. I didn't test it on there to see, like you said, it says not to use it on porous plastics, which, seeing how much 303 the panels soaked up, seems the type plastic that covers much of the current LX.

I just went down to the local parts store, autozone,to buy some wax. Came home with Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0. For no real reason. I thought my "E" was clean. I was amazed with the cleaning power of this product. The ease of removing the wax is also amazing. Also you get a excellent shine. The only problem that I found was it is hard to tell were you have applied the wax. Is it the best thing since sliced bread? Probably not. Is it the best out there, don't know. Would I buy it again, Definitely!!!!!!:-D

Zaino Clear seal works good on the plastic and paint. When they say use just a small amount at a time they mean it. If you try it and you have any questions they are very helpful when you call.

Would I buy it again, Definitely!!!!!!:-DI agree with the cleaning aspect, I was using it on my E and my old van that does not have clear coat and is red was sitting there, so I thought I would try it on the hood, which the van is covered in black stuff that dripped from an oak tree. I was amazed how it cleaned it, and the oxidation of the red paint. I used to do this with Mequires clean and wax and it would take two applications.

And the ease of removal is great, I waxed the E, not including the panels or course, in less than an hour. I did the roof twice.

As far as how long it lasts, that may be the only drawback. I had used it a couple months ago on the hood, just to try it out. It seemed to me the hood was totally without wax on it, just like the rest of the E. But the ease of use makes it something you can do quickly, and therefore more often. It has a good shine too.

I've used the gold class wax, nxt, and the high tech yellow #26 and they all have their places. The #26 was better on dark because it had a deeper shine. The gold class was "too" shiny on dark colors. I like the gold class on silver or white. The NXT is best on mid color cars, blue, galaxy gray metallic (:D). I agree that it's hard to tell where you put it. The nice thing is that it wipes off the easiest of the bunch.

The Meguiars forums has a lot of good information about which products are best for which application. The thing with the NXT, be it marketing speak or not, is that it's incredibly easy to use. I believe it's also a bit more synthetic than the others so less natural wax. This could be good or bad depending on your views.

I would like to wax the car every 3 months or so, but in reality it usually ends up being once or twice per year and I'd rather go with something easy to apply. I guess I'm just getting lazy as I get older

I agree. The NXT is something I can run out and spend an hour, considering the plastic panels take away a lot of what might need waxing on a different vehicle, and get a shine on the paint. I also have not noticed a problem with getting a little bit on the panels, I am just careful, and if a bit gets on there I just wipe it off before it dries.

I don't think it has much of a lasting quality to it. Of course I have been using the dang spray 'n wash rather than my better wash job at home, using my preferred soap, due to water usage ban, and it could be their soap is stripping it.

If and when I get a chance to spend the day, I might use something a bit better. As it is I tend to do something more often, like do the panels, or clean the windows, and sort of rotate jobs that are less intensive.

I used to use the Meguiers clean and wax, actually plan on using it again, as it is fairly easy to use as well, and holds up better in my experience. Sort of in between the NXT and a paste, as what I have been using is the liquid.
