I am a new owner...'08 atomic blue ex. Love it, but my 90 lb dog, who is frequently wet/muddy after our trips to the state forest, is adamant about sitting in the front. And if I leave the car for a quick stop (groceries, etc.), he inevitable is in MY seat when I return! Suggestions for a gate/barrier between front and back......

Welcome to the EOC. You've made a wise decision - the E is a great puppy hauler.

There are several threads on the various barriers, below are some of them.

Howdy and Welcome! I love your color choice!!! My dogs always steal my seat if I run in somewhere too, its like they are demanding their turns to drive it. :)

You must post photos of the E and the dog. Preferably together, of course.

you might need a set up like wolfhounder has in his E (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=549525&postcount=26). It seems to be easily enough installed and removed.

Good lookin' pup you got, too.

Fitzconnelly-- this heavy piece of canvas has an overhang of about a foot that lies on the floor---so when they lean over the barrier they can't "break through" because they are standing on it too---
i think you could rig something up quite cheap if you found any heavy sort of material, you could put homemade gromets alont the edges to fit right into the head rests to hold it in place...hope this helps!

I have a leash that has clips on both ends, I clip one to the collar and one to the little silver teathering point close to the floor of the trunck on the side where the gate opens.

I have a 80 lbs American Staffordshire Terrier and a 20 lbs Boston Terrier. Works like a charm for both of them.

I did something similar for a springer spaniel I had when I put him in the truck bed. Rope tied to each of the front tie downs with just enough rope so he could get his nose over the rail on each side but couldn't jump out at red lights. There was a cat incident, but luckily it was in the neighborhood.

For the E I thought a better method might be a carbiner hooked into rear seat mounting point in the floor. I'd think that would be much stronger than those tie downs. They're just held in place by a small screw.

You can also take a piece of rope or cable and attach it to the 2 grab handles on the back seat, then clip the leash to that so it slides back and forth. I did something similar in Izzy (Rodeo Sport) with the roll bar in the back, worked like a charm. Kali could wander back and forth from one side to the other, but couldn't jump over the back seat that was folded up, or jump out the back door when it was opened.
