Does anyone have any feedback on the Ultima line of products? I have searched this forum a few times and can only find 2 brief references. The product appears to be a modern polymer sealant (not a wax) that is quite popular over at autopia.org. One review (http://autopia.org/forum/car-detailing/98344-ultima-product-review.html) in particular stood out fairly level headed and unbiased.
My main reasons for interest in the product are:
Ease of Application - Simply wipe on and wipe off (no buffing)
It gets along well with plastic trim - no white haze on plastic
It lasts a long time (bonus for lazy guys like me)
The biggest problem is that the products are expensive. The small bottle of sealant (think wax) is $35. So before I spring for the stuff, I was hoping to get a bit of feedback from someone with an E that has actually used it.

The Ultima products are great but the preparing of the surface is IMPORTANT that is the KEY for any product to perform.
Collinite insulator wax is great around plastic also. Can find at advance auto parts in the marine section also check Collinite website. Wax will last about 3-months+ with proper washing.
When waxing you MUST always protect the plastic with masking tape 3M.
GOOD LUCK

Actually, since these types of products are not waxes they are supposedly compatible with plastic. This is another big reason I am planning to get out the traditional “wax” game. I am a fairly lazy man, so if a product can keep me from having to tape off the plastic or allow me to be a bit sloppy then I am all for it.
I know one of the Ultima reviews I was reading specifically mentioned using the products for cladding on a Chevy Avalanche. I tried to track it down again but cannot find the thread in question.
Right now I am planning to order the following:
Ultima Paint Prep Plus 12 oz (polish)
Ultima Paint Guard Plus 4oz (sealant)
Ultima Tire and Trim Guard Plus 4oz (sealant – less glossy than the Paint Guard)
I considered the Ultima Complete Paint Care Kit, but from what I have read the Elastrofoam cleaner (clay bar replacement) is not terribly useful. Plus the kit does not include Tire and Trim Guard Plus.
If nobody else has used this stuff it looks like I may end up the EOC guinea pig.

IMO as for the tires I use STP protectant can beat it have been using it for 8-years I been detailing and valet service since 97 to present If you want to talk my e-mail is newagain@ec.rr.com. and as for the cadding on the chevy there is a RECALL on that www.autoint.com also read about FAST FINISH that should SOLVE your problem. I still believe in taping
GOOD LUCK
The Ultima line is good. I have been using it for several months.
For me the tire/trim product is very good on trim but not as good on tires. It takes very little of the sealant to protect your car. A 12 oz bottle will last you a long time.
I also really like the interior sealant and use it on our cars. Have not tried the clay replacement pad and only use traditional clay.
Our element and MINI have a fair amount of plastic trim and these products make application very easy and fast because you don't have to worry about trim getting stained from cheap waxes (better waxes do NOT stain trim btw).
A cheaper and good alternate to the Ultima would be Optimum Opti-seal. Their poli-seal, opti-seal (wipe on walk away product), OCW and new quick detailer are excellent and very easy to use.
