: If You could talk to Honda... what would you say?

If any of you "E" owners could tell honda about your likes and dislikes, what would you tell them? do you like the plastic panels, wopuld you paint them? what would you add, or take away? You are the owners of an incredible vehicle, help them make it better.

"Honda, please... no more 'all or nothing' product packaging."

To wit:

1) What does a sunroof have to do with a 4x4 drivetrain?

2) ABS is a safety feature. Why do I have to pay for the fancy wheels in order to get it, especially when I want to shop the aftermarket for wheels?

3) Cruise control is just a few extra bits and connectors. EX shouldn't be mandatory to get it.

Let me agree with Bush on a few things:

GENERAL APPEARENCE Yes, I like the unpainted composit fenders, but I think they might be too cheaply made. I have a friend who works in the aerospace industry and he said the fenders could be made with a stronger composite material, like the kind used on some jets. Maybe be strong enough to actually be used as a bumper, with the proper brackets and support behind them.

IT'S A HONDA Yes, and it should be a Honda with LOTS better gas mileage than what I get. But I live in smog-prone California and smog-prone devices to make California LESS smog-prone are, well, prone to make less mileage, even though it is a less emmisions engine (or vehicle)

(c)LOWER GRILL PROTECTION Yeah, I'm sure that could have been improved from the very beginning. And should be improved on the 2004.
However, it is quite easy to PROTECT that grill by easily removing the front composite clip of the vehicle and getting to whatever needs to be got to. Like the wimpy horn.

All in all, I am impressed with the acceleration of the auto tranny I have. I do not need to accelerate like I am some high school or college kid wishing to feel tire-smoking, press-your-fanny-in-the-seat type acceleration when ya press the go pedal, just enough to get up-to-snuff when entering the infamous local Southern California freeways. Ditto for the smooth ride and high smooth cruise feel at high speed. I'd prefer darker tinted windows and a dark strip across the front window for the sun when you face into it.

Thanks, Honda, for the innovative Element.

I'm not "in" to aftermarket stuff, but Honda might want to offer replacement panels for the E that have different styles/colors...sort of the way Cell phone companies offer different face plates for their phones.

I would like to tell Honda that the position of the cruise control switch is very awkward. The hazard light switch on the EX auto is located just left of the gear shift. That switch could be located to the right side and the cruise control switch located where the hazard switch is now. In any event the current position is difficult to see and a slight pain to reach.

I would like to tell Honda that "I LOVE MY E" and "THANK-YOU FOR MAKING SUCH A VERSATILE and FUN VEHICLE". I think the E is pretty much perfect.

The only thing I'd suggest is something to keep the rocks out of the lower condenser in the front. I'm not very handy and trying to make one and install myself is a bit daunting, so a stock solution would be a good thing!

Also, I'd love to see a Hybrid version too!

But again, THANK-YOU! This is my first Honda and you hit a homerun right off the bat with me!

The Element is great ! my only suggestion after 7000 kms.... My finger knucle on my right hand occasionally hits the wiper lever when steering. Suggest Honda correct problem by taking "bend " out of lever in future models. A front skylite option also good idea.

Steal another 4" from somewhere so that a 4' wide piece of sheet stock can get in flat. Currently the work around is to put up one seat and slide it in at an angle.
love me E though. just yesterday loaded an 8' long light table with the legs removed and transported fine.

if the sun roof has to be in the back please, oh please, make it automatic so that i can enjoy the feature without having to stop and get out to close it for any reason, from noise to weather and everything inbetween.

I like my plastic panels just fine. I would like to see a grill or some sort of protectin for the condenser. I think it would be nice if their could be some sort of technique for making the interior scratch resistant for those of us who transport 4 legged friends. I would also move the sunroof forward. The changes made to the 04 are also a great start. how about changing the level of the cupholders or making the cupholders part of the armrest like at a movie theatre so we dont have to hunt for the hole while driving? a 5th seatbelt and move the cupholders to the outside in the rear seat. How about a Honda Barrier for the rear cargo area that could be adapted to fit behind the front seat if need be? I would also like a little more pep in the performance area. I have added a custom CAI and will probably also add a Catback Exhaust to try to get a little more power. Oh and the passenger should have the ability to lock/unlock the doors.

My gosh, Honda!
I am in love with my '06 EX-P!
I understand that each year, you add a little more here and there...enough to tempt a trade in...**BUT** I am STILL waiting for the ELEMENT HYBRID!!
C'mon, with these gas prices, we seriously need to see the hybrid engine in a car built for long distant road trips. I think you have the Ridgeline-H coming up...but really, there is NO replacing the E.

Another query is...whatsup with those gosh awful blind spots?! That HUGE bulky bit o'plastic between the side window and windscreen. I've come across some close calls...and a few finger-flips from upset peds!

Other than that....I love you....and the ASIMO :)

Honda, get it in gear and get us the diesels we are begging for.

Make mine a 6 cylinder turbo diesel with displacement on demand so it can be a 4 when needed.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE my E. We have been Honda owners for 25 years! We currently have a 1997 CR-V, 2005 Pilot, and 2008 SC Element. Interestingly enough, the CR-V (oldest of all) is the most expensive to insure! The E ( I can't say it enough) is not only the newest and best, but the LEAST expensive for us to insure :D:D:D:D

I couldn't be happier.....okay, I want a sunroof in the front for me to enjoy!!

6 speed turbo diesel. If a 5 speed can be converted to a 6 with just a handfull of parts why not do it at the factory?

Wow, almost 5 years between posts and the GRIPES ARE STILL THE SAME! My gripe would be that honda doesnt give a flying F about the EOC and doesnt listen to the most important people- Element owners themselves about what they want in an E.

after 5 years still no:
condenser protection
passenger door unlock
sunroof options
gas mileage still sucks

and a few more

While I'll probably think of something else later, I'll just edit.

1. HYBRID / hi mileage ELEMENT. Please!!

2.Exiting the driver side the plastic rounded form by the door is what I hit my knees on coming in and going out (I'm short so the seat is far up!). Less to hit my knees on!

3. The nubby floor is hard to clean.

I'll edit this when I have more, and i do have more -
I love my E, but I want my E to be even better!!

The unlock on the key fob. I should be able to tap unlock twice to open both doors. Not tap unlock wait 2 seconds and tap again to let my passenger in.

Mileage.. then again it is a box and has a lot of safety features.

More leg room. I am 6' 4 and the head room its still 1/2 a foot above me. Come on!

The seat belt beep is the worst of any vehicle ever. I modified that though.

Have arm rests standard?

Dear Honda,
I bought the inaugural edition, and commented at the time that a stretch version ( more cargo length ) would be a help for those of us handling awkward items such as wheelchairs. I put a 2" receiver hitch and have a "basket" when needing more space, and will pull an assortment of trailers...

Take a look at the new Mini Cooper Clubman...simple and stylin'....

Or, take the Ridgeline and fit an Element "Stretch" to that...
(of course I'd want a manual tranny option...)

Honda needs to promote the E better! I still see those stupid comercials with the animales! Come on Honda! You need to explote the E's versitility with a young, hip crowd having fun in it. I see all the cool CR-V comercials all the time and wish "man....why can't they do that with the E". That's my only complant:D

I would say to Honda - Thank you for the wonderful time we had at the East Liberty Plant and the TRC on June 20th and 21st. What a great group of people they have working there at the impressive facilities we visited.

hello:

I too would like to congratulate Honda on a really good SUV!

I got mine about 3-4 months ago and didn't see to many on the road, now I see them all over the place.

Things I wish my E could do....

#1: have the front seats have the ability to incline forward. I carry lots of photo gear in the car and having the seats lean forward would allow me to carry some longer pieces of equipment and to have more access space to the back from the side doors.

#2: I am shorter than the average bear and I have to have the seat so far up in order to reach the pedals that it is difficult to enter & exit the E. A telescoping steering column would be great, even if it was an add on.

#3: the ability to add side steps onto the SC

#4 the option to have a rear skyroof without having the AWD

#5: and if it was a hybrid, it would be perfection on earth.

That's about it...I love mine!

eMatt

1) Power rear windows that go down to let in air

2) Power sunroof

3) Not suicide doors but van doors to eliminate the Element dance in parking
lots

4) Move the Cruise control switch where I can see it better

5) Rubber edges on tail gate cause I keep banging my head when it is open

6) Daytime running lights

Thats it for now

I love my E, but one thing I would add to future models is a light above the iPod connector. Whenever the cord comes out, even in daylight, it's a bear to reinsert. A light would make it so much easier.

And please, please consider making a hybrid.

I have never crawled underneath one but I would be VERY surprised if the attach-points would NOT be there. I think Honda does not recommend it because the SC already sits a bit (1/2") lower than the E and would be concerned with dragging. I think the tank guard still is lower....
