Got mine used but in excellent (like new) condition for 1700

NOW I have to get the hitch for the E. Has there been any progress made on an easier way to do the wiring harness? I have spent literally hours searching these threads for a post I saw a couple weeks ago about NOT having to tear the whole interior apart.

Or was I dreaming?

Taking the interior apart is not that bad really, the whole process can be done in under 2 hours easily. The parts generally just pop right off, and putting them back in is 15 minutes max.

But it's still not camping. Go to Etrailer.com or somewhere, get the cheap version of the Honda wiring harness for the trailer hookup and do it yourself. It's really not hard at all. Follow the instructions and start ramblin', man.

Oh..thats coming ;-) The former owners actually put a storage "hole" inside the trailer bed that will make a lovely niche for the porti potti ;-) They stored an RV battery in there..thats dumb, but I am not sure if trading one toxic fume for another is a good trade off..what do youthink?

The photo instructions from etrailer show them pulling the panel back without taking everything off. Has anyone down this?

this pic from etrailer shows them just pulling the panel back fromthe rear. Anyone tried it?

If it were that easy, I would have thought someone would have figured it out by now

But they also say after removing the threshold and all that other stuff...You still follow the Honda directions, but it's really not that hard once you start.

Hey! Thanks for the etrailers suggestion. I got the hitch today, as ordered, on time! 194 with 3 day shipping. Tomorrow it will get installed per the profjoel instructions! One of my manly friends will provide the brute force..I will do the electrical. Hopefully I will be towing this little house on wheels home tomorrow!

Hey Kayakin' Dan -

I've been searching these posts for a while, and can't find any of the "horror stories" about using the cheap draw-tite trailer wiring harness. And i see where you suggest using the cheap one in your post. I really would like to use the cheap one - draw tite has a circuit protected one for 19.95. Will this work, or cause me problems, like some have alluded to? Has it worked for you?

Adirondacker this thread is almost 5 years old. Honda has changed the set up for trailer wiring since then and most people here will recommend using the Honda harness on 2005 and up E's. 2003-2004's had no problem using the Draw-tite harness with the T connector.
