I just got my E last month. I have a great collection of CD's I burned myself and could not wait to cruise with the sunroof :( off and windows down, groovin' with some 80's music. The first CD I popped in got stuck.
I took it to the dealer, they had to order a new stereo. Two weeks later after it was installed, they said "we have noted in your file that you had a burned CD in the player. The owners manual states only high quality CD's should be played in the player, and in the future, we will not warranty your player against CD you burned at home".
We have played home made CD's in our Odyssey since we got it in 2000 with out a problem. Now I am afraid to play any of these.
Any one else with the same problem?

Nope. About 2/3 of the CDs I've been playing in my EX are burned CDs. I figure if a CD gets stuck, that'll be the week I get a single-DIN sized stereo, new speakers, maybe an amp and finally install my riocar/empeg unit that's been sitting on my shelf. :)

I hate when manufacturers prey on people like this just to limit thier liability.
You should tell them that you have noted in thier file that Honda radios cannot play INDUSTRY STANDARD CD's and that they will not take responsibility for this. Tell them your friends and family are also making the same notes in thier files on Honda.
Ask them to prove what the difference is between a burned and a "high quality" CD. In fact, press them to provide you with a formal buyers guide so you can avoid "low quality" CD's. Ask them if they have distributed this information to the other 50,000+ Element owners in the market and if not, ask them what thier plans are to alert people to this possible problem.
Tell them that you'd be glad to distribute this information to thousands of users over the internet on Honda Element fan site if they need help getting the message out to the masses.
And then ask them to remove that stupid note on "your file".

Nope! Perhaps I was a bit vague before: it's currently sitting on the shelf...next to my computer, hooked up to my stereo, rockin' out. :)

That sounds like b.s. to me. The only time I had a home-burned CD stuck in a player was when the stick-on label came of inside the player. So, no more stick-on labels for me. I wonder what they would have said had it been a store bought CD that was stuck.

Tell him he's so full of poo, his eyes are brown...If you want any more poop out of him you'll squeeze his head...If he shovels any more manure, it'll be hard for him to breathe. I wouldn't stand for that. And for the record, the ONLY CD's I play are home burned MP3's, but I don't have a Honda radio.
