Hello all,
Just got my E 2 weeks ago, and was hoping to put off buying snow tires until next fall, but an ice storm convinced me of the error of my ways.
I thought I'd advise you on a set I bought from Kal-Tire, a chain with lots of locations in Canada, not sure about Alaska. I called around trying to find a set, and was having no luck until I called these guys - maybe because it's late in the season to look for snow tires. The guy at Kal-Tire asked me what kind of snow tires I was looking for, and I told him 'the cheap kind' - the Arctic Claw is what I got. I guess they're made by Cooper, but are a no-name variety.
They're very good - since I got them on, the only time I slid was on a surface that you literally could have skated on. $110 per, with various taxes, fees, etc $580 for everything. Free rotation, free flat repair - although I doubt I could talk them into rotating my snow tires off and my all-seasons on? Hmmm, I wonder....
Anyway, there's one more thread on these tires at:
