: 4 wires to the driver's door speaker?
Why is that so?
I tried to do a search; however, there appears to be a mininum length for a search string on this site.

2 of the wires on each front door speaker harness go to the tweeter on each pillar.
count 04-26-2008, 04:54 PM How are the wires setup, is there a crossover on the amp, or externally. Is there a wiring diagram?
N.W.Eowner 04-26-2008, 07:51 PM There is a single high-pass capacitor mounted on the pillar tweeter.
count 04-27-2008, 01:12 PM does that mean when you remove the tweeter, you are also removing the capacitor? I installed polk mmc6500 speakers and tweeters and they sound good, but am worried if there is no capacitor i may damage the tweeters. Have crossovers but wont install till i install the amp.
TheAntirice 04-29-2008, 11:51 AM yes you should use the crossovers otherwise you run the risk of blowing out the tweeters. As an alternative, you can actually purchase an inline capacitor style high pass filter and install it instead of the intended crossover.
To the OP quesiton, I would wonder the same thing as well becuase when I took out and replaced just my door speakers, the drivers door had two sets of wires coming out of the harness, however the passenger door did not. That would lead me to believe that those wires do not go to the tweeter but I have not checked for certain.
jpeaslee 05-01-2008, 10:31 AM I'd go with the second option. I'm not sure on the ohm resistance on the factory tweeters. The caps inline with the factory tweeter are designed for THAT tweeter. Going with the aftermarket option, you'll be able to pick the right crossover frequency and slope for that tweeter with that resistance. You'll probably actually end up with better sound anyways.
So did you just replace the tweeters, and not the mids?
Dom.five 05-01-2008, 11:24 AM It looks like it's confusing, but it's not! For some reason they fed the the drivers side tweeter from the front Drivers door speaker. Those are the Green/Blk and Green wires. As they go up to the Tweeter they change color to Lt Blue and Gry/blu they connect at the speaker to the red Blk.
On the passengers side the connection to the Harness is under the dash. THE WIRE COLOR IS Grn/Yel and Blu/Yel. that comes up the pillar as the Lt Grn/Blk and Pnk/Blk. They connect at the speaker to the Red and Blk wires.
Hope that helps.

count 05-07-2008, 09:23 PM No, i replaced both the tweeters and the 6" with polk 6500s, but now i'm stuck with the dilemma of whether to replace the wiring all together, or to find out how to work in the crossovers that came with the speakers and find my way through the odd wiring.
dancetiludrop 05-07-2008, 10:47 PM I have the same speakers and replaced the wiring. The stock wiring is very small gauged anyways so you'll want to go with something a little bit larger.
And like they said, don't run the tweeters without the crossover.
jpeaslee 05-08-2008, 10:09 AM I would go ahead and replace the wiring. Its not particularly hard to do. I might have missed this somewhere, are you still using the factory HU and amp?
count 05-13-2008, 01:15 PM At first i was thinking of trying to use the head unit and aftermarket amp, but now ive replaced the head unit with a pioneer avhp4000. Have it running through the factory amp till i can get the wires run for the aftermarket, probably a bad idea but at least i have tunes for driving around. I think im probably going to go ahead and replace the wiring(speaker). What is the easiest way to get through the sleeves to the door speakers?(by sleeves i mean the rubber flex tube near the hinges):D
dancetiludrop 05-13-2008, 06:09 PM If you take the entire door skin off it's a bit easier to reach stuff but not necessary. Reaching thru the speaker hole should get you to the rubber grommet. It's easier to pop the rubber grommet out to run the wires thru it.
