Went to the EOC Merchandise site ready to buy my Midwest Chapter decal and discovered there was none to be had. What's up?? Any chance we can get one made?

Where exactly is the "Mid-west"? Is it by the Mid-east? The middle west could be anywhere. Is Ohio the Mid-west? People from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana say they are from the Great Lakes States, and North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas are central. And if you were to put Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota (don't ya know) in the West (of the Mississippi) they would be East-west. I would say that the Rocky Mountain states are in the middle of the west.

Sorry, I'm running on little sleep.

I'll put one up if we have enough interest. No problem.

Thanks, that's terrific T Mac. I don't know how you define "enough", but sounds like you have two who have an interest.

As for design, I don't see any reason to change from what I've seen other Chapters using: Simply "Midwest Chapter".

As for TribleElements comments, bioya. ;-)

What added image could we use? ...a pig? ...how about an ear of corn? ...wait, I've got it ...Dirt! No that's no good nobody would recognize it. Ummm...ooo...an airliner (get it? "fly over land"). I think I'm just a little burnt out on winter up here but I'd really like a palm tree as our symbol.

Hadn't thought about a symbol, but an ear of corn isn't a bad idea. Fits a good number of the midwest states. Or ear of corn with a couple shafts of wheat.

Another option---a Route 66 sign.

Simple is good.

This explains it all:
Traditional definitions of the Midwest include the Northwest Ordinance "Old Northwest" states and many states that were part of the Louisiana Purchase. The states of the Old Northwest are also known as "Great Lakes states". Many of the Louisiana Purchase states are also known as Great Plains states.

The North Central Region, is defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as these 12 states:

* Illinois: Old Northwest, Ohio River, and Great Lakes state.
* Indiana: Old Northwest, Ohio River, and Great Lakes state.
* Iowa: Louisiana Purchase, Great Plains state.
* Kansas: Louisiana Purchase, Border state, Great Plains state.
* Michigan: Old Northwest and Great Lakes state.
* Minnesota: Old Northwest and Great Lakes state; western part Louisiana Purchase.
* Missouri: Louisiana Purchase, Border state, Great Plains state.
* Nebraska: Louisiana Purchase, Great Plains state.
* North Dakota: Louisiana Purchase, Great Plains state .
* Ohio: Old Northwest (Historic Connecticut Western Reserve), Ohio River, and Great Lakes state. Also a Northeastern Appalachian state in the southeast.
* South Dakota: Louisiana Purchase, Great Plains state.
* Wisconsin: Old Northwest and Great Lakes state.

I don't think for regional decals we can pick an emblem. Its just what you want the letters to say. Only chapters outside the US can pick an emblem... like the Canucks.
Don't go down the path of trying to design a sticker with a pictorial graphic. It will just be wasted effort.

Now if you are having your own made thats a different story.

I'm in. What say T Mac, is a half dozen "Midwest Chapter" commitments enough interest to get the ball rolling?

I have a silver EOC sticker. I bought mine at Howard Cooper. Fisher would have been closer but Howard Cooper had the one I wanted on the lot.

I still think it should say Midwest Chapter and have a palm tree graphic. Nobody really wants to live in the Midwest by choice.
