GREAT NEWS!! Kujo is meeting his potential new Mastiff Mommy today!! ****

He'll be properly evaluated today and if all goes well, neutered beginning of next week and home by the weekend.

Say a prayer, for those who pray, or cross your fingers for Kujo today, PLEASE!!

Hi folks,

I couldn't think of a better group of folks to ask for help. I was contacted last night about a so called Breeder DUMP at the Cabbo Parish (High Kill) Shelter in Shreveport, Louisiana.

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e165/KBMastiffs/Rescues/PeacesCuddlinKujo.jpg

The owners, and I use that word lightly, claimed he snapped at their 4 yr old, so that sealed his fate. There isn't a Mastiff Group that will speak for him. Not to mention they consider him to be a Senior at the age of 6 and wouldn't step up regardless. *not saying volunteers wouldn't step up on their own, outside their organization*

Here's the situation, I can't take him on without him being properly evaluated. The Rescue volunteer who contacted me is working on that now. Plus, he'll have to be properly vetted, receive a travel health certificate and be neutered. Of which, I will have to suck up this cost. **Anyone who would like to make a donation to Kujo's medical expenses, I'd love that, but can't accept at this time. Wait till I have a vet's name and number and give directly to them in his name.

So, till that happens, Rescue Transportation is only in the volunteer/planning stages. So, if you can help get this boy from Shreveport, LA to Marshall, VA (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=shreveport,+la&daddr=marshall,+va&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=51.974572,97.03125&ie=UTF8&z=5), 1,146 mi – about 17 hours 21 mins, I would be most grateful and I bet Kujo would have slobbery kisses to offer on the trip North. :)

Thanks guys!! E-ple ROCK!! without a doubt!

Benny, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much! Most of those I already know and volunteer with. But I'm wanting to cut down on the actual number of hand-offs this poor boy has to go through.

I am very seriously considering driving down and back to get him.

Can't say that I blame you. It's tough to get a transport going - especially for the big guys.... welcome to my life.

It does sound like you and Mel have a road trip ahead of you. It's doo-able for a weekend. But it would be a long one. If you guys do that, drive safe.

At this point, it's just a thought, but I might consider making a run to LA and back to my area (Huntsville, AL) which I believe would cover about half of the distance to your home. I would have to ask the wife for permission (or forgiveness). Let me know if this interests you at all. We have a rescue Mastiff (Cane Corso) and have a soft spot for the large breeds.

I'm sure my wife will be ok with the idea. She is a certified obedience trainer and works for a local daycare/boarding facility and dogs are her life. We have 2 fosters (pits) now that are in the process of being adopted, and we own a few rescues (dogs & cats). My wife does this stuff for all the right reasons.... myself? I think my motives are a little more selfish... it just makes me feel good. Please let us know if we can do this for you... and Kujo

I'm in tears!! and at work I'll be in touch.

I've had interest from another EOC'r for a perm home, as long as Kujo gets along with small dogs, he may find a home right here on EOC!

I swear! I'll never own another vehicle with folks like you for friends!!!

He just called at work and I am so excited!! I used to work at the Humane Society so I know how hard it is for these big guys not mention older ones to get out with a happy ending. I am just so excited that we can help!! Our one foster Rascal we picked up in KY almost a year ago from a very rural shelter we were he and his sisters only hope of getting out all pits unless released to a rescue were euthenized...his sister was adoted pretty quickly but we've had Rascal since last May..but as long as the home check goes good Rascal is going to live on five acres with a pond!! Mazey our other foster who I didn't really want to go anywhere..but finally admitted we couldn't keep is going to be adopted by Inkspotman's daughter and ex-wife(who is really awesome for doing this)! Happy endings for everyone!!

Kerri - Do you realize there have been more large breed dogs saved right here on the EOC the past few hours than most shelters in our area?

I'm once again amazed at these silly E-ple. :)
