Who would throw out such a great cat? A cat isn't broken if it's missing a leg. People can be so wasteful.

I'm afraid to stop petting him because when I do he gets really mad and claws me then looks up at me like I'm nuts. Pretty sure he has an attitude problem.

Our two Babies. The Striped one is Lillith (named for the Celtic goddess of darkness and shadows) She'll be 5 this year, she's the hunter, more cautious around strangers, but she's also a daddies girl.
The Black one is Rhys (pronounced Reese, welsh for energetic) He just turned 2, he an attention wh0r3, if we have guests he'll adopt them, just flop over in their laps until he tires of them.

One of my Siamese boys, Ching, used to absolutely go bonkers for cantaloupe. I couldn't eat it if he was around, he would physically pull it out of my hand, or off my fork...it didn't matter how many pieces there were in front of him...he was ADDICTED........(I lost both my Siamese boys back in July last year -http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/0002006A.gif (http://www.sweetim.com/s.asp?im=gen&ref=10) They were such good little boys)

This is Percy (Purr-see), aka Percy the Pu$$y. He moved in about three years ago, but lets us continue to live in the house as long as we remember who's in charge. He's probably the most affectionate cat we've ever owned. Loves being outdoors and can't wait for spring.

Those sphinx cats are growing on me, what's their personality like?

I heard someone describe them as "part cat, part monkey, part human and part alien" -- that kind of fits:rolleyes:

They are active, playful, smart (and they know it)

They do their own stunts!

Their paws are almost like hands....Bailey picks up small items and examines them.

But on top of everything else, they are love-bugs :) I've never had a cat that purrs and cuddles as much as Bailey (could be he's cold ).

Also, they eat like carniverous horses.....their metabolism is higher than most cats (again...temperature regulating thing).

Ok the first picture is of our two cats Harley is a Tortie and a bobtail (actually she really doesn't have any tail!) She was our first one,her mother was a feral cat that we trapped and spayed after her kittens were old enough. Then came Motor our gray and white cat he actually thinks he's a dog instead of a cat!

The second picture is of Motor in a tree, I couldn't believe I actually got such a great picture of him!

The last one is of Howie he was a kitten someone brought into the clinic I used to work at, he had a wolf worm right below his eye, almost in it and they didn't think he was even going to make it and if he did I was pretty sure he'd lose his eye. Well after getting the worm out and some TLC and antibiotics he turned into a beautiful guy!.

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail!
Behold, elevator butt.

The rule for today:
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

In deep sleep hear sound
cat vomit hairball somewhere
will find in morning.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

Blur of motion, then --
silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds --
your foot just squashed one.

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
can just hide my head.

Terrible battle.
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What's a 'term paper?'

Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes,
Fear vacuum cleaner

I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?

Wanna go outside.
Oh, poop! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!

Oh no! Big One
has been trapped by newspaper!
Cat to the rescue!

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams;
My claws are not that sharp.

Oh and she tried to kill me yet again today.

I was on that step...you know,...the one that's "not a step", reaching up and barely hanging onto one of the steps with a couple of fingers...when..ATTACK! She attacks my fingers! I managed to continue to hang on through the onslaught, since I was holding a brush in the other hand. The rest of the evening she kept looking at me smiling:mad:

my cat hates wearing clothes. I, however, could not stop laughing when I put her in this sweater she got for Christmas from my parents. The cat just stood there and would not move. I took some pics and then freed her from the straight jacket. She does look to me like she is working it a bit. We all know the power of the strong jaw line, don't we? It still makes me giggle.

my cat hates wearing clothes.
I know that look well!
That's the "I know where you sleep" look...

i used to have a cat that looked just like him actually. Her name was Keets, she died at 7 from who knows what. The vet came and gave her her shots, and a day later her eyes stayed dialated...long story short, she quickly went blind, lost weight, developed a weird lump on her back and was in crazy pain. i couldnt bear it and put her down. I blame the vet! :(

Anyways...about a year later i needed a new kitty. Saw a different one posted on a local site, went to check him out, and saw Toast. Lady said she was giving that one to her sister, but was waiting forever to a final YES from her. Toast was calm and cute and looked right up at you, right in the eyes. He took hold of me and i convinced her to give me him.

He's part Maine Coon and Ragdoll and some other random stuff too.

Talks A LOT, loves to flop on you, loves to do the squish, as i call it (when they smash their head and face on you).

i have plenty more pics at home that i will bring. CATS RULE!

That would be the kitty headbutt, my big male cat does it all the time. That's how we got him too - went to the local shelter and said we want a cat who's not shy. They let him out and he walked up, jumped up on me, and threw his paws around my neck purring like a dump truck. They said he was reserved by someone but they never called back so we got him instead :D

Can't wait for more pics!!

My ex-wife had her 3 cats vaccinated at the county shelter, 2 days later 2 were dead and we put the 3rd one down at a REAL vet when he started coughing up blood. The REAL vet said lots of shelters re-use needles to save money and lots of deaths like this happen.

Please, everyone, ask around among your friends and find a vet you would trust YOUR life to and don't try to save money at the cost of your pet's life.

If you're in the Orlando Florida area, here's my vet...
Longwood Veterinary Clinic
1080 W. Highway 434 in Longwood.
407-834-2526
Dr. Rick and his staff will keep your pets in tip-top shape.
Boarding and bathing also available. (for your PETS, not you:)

It's a male, but my wife named him when he was a kitten and before she bothered to find out what sex he was. Awww. I wouldn't call my Kiki evil, but I have to wonder when she purposefully naps on the narrow stairs, knowing that humans rarely take them slowly and there's no room for error. Just goes to show that there's active thought in that pea brain other than "FOOD NAO!!!"

Twilightzero,
Although the cats have water available in three different areas of the house, for some reason they love to drink from the faucet in the sink pictured above. I turn the water on with a very slow stream and they take turns drinking from it. They even like the sink better than their DrinkWell. Go figure.

Same here, I always have to "share" the sink with evil kitty every morning.
I'll pour her a bowl of fresh water and sit it right on the edge of the sink and she just looks at me like the little girl from the movie "Signs" and says "It's contaminated"----then proceeds to drink from the running stream.

Here is my evil cat Akiki, excited that her catgrass has sprouted:)

Jojo, I recently planted catgrass that came in a kit complete with a Sylvester planter. The kit was produced by the fine folks who brought us the infamous Chia Pets. Unfortunantly, my cat couldn't wait for the grass to fully sprout and attacked and ate the 1/4" spriggs as they were just beginning to see the light of day. Dirt was left all over the counter and the cat didn't even feel sorry for making a mess. Go figure?
Now to my question...
I would like to plant more "catgrass" but I don't know what it is called. Do I just go to the plant place and ask for "catgrass" seeds or is there more of an official name?

Thanks in advance for your help.
PS - Tell Akiki hello from my cats Tucker and Rocky

New foster kitties (cayenne and tomatillo). Mom (Salsa) was a stray with a litter of five - they all went to rescue. Mom was very thin and these two weren't gaining weight so they needed bottle feeding. That's Groucho, the lab, that they're snuggling up to. He's tolerating them.

The little orange tabby I posted above is doing the strangest thing. He seems to be going into a coma for several hours at a time and then coming out of it totally fine. The other night it was nine hours! We all thought he was dying. We've renamed him Jesus (the spanish version)since we live in So Cal) Cayenne because he seems to be rising from the dead - possibly auditioning for Easter weekend???

We're going to the vet on Monday, but has anyone ever heard of this?

Nothing wrong with a cat who's a deep sleeper..
All ours do it....
It means they are comfortable, and don't feel threatened...

Cats being light sleepers, or sleeping with one eye open is a defense mechanism that wild animals use...they have a high level of alertness that keeps them alive in the wild....

They know that there is nothing to threaten them at home, so they sleep soundly...

barkdogs
03-15-2009, 06:21 PM
This is more than deep sleeping - he doesn't respond to anything including pain stimulus and very loud noises. He's only four weeks old and even if he was sleeping, wouldn't do so for nine hours without waking and us being able to wake him to be fed.

Thanks for asking. Cayenne (now Jesus Cayenne because he keeps rising from the dead and we already had a lazarus kitten) is just fine. The vet said he was neurologically fine and couldn't find anything wrong. I showed him the video and he said, "yeah, looks like he is in a coma". He'd never heard of a kitten/cat doing that for six to nine hours and coming out okay. Everyone who saw him in that state said he was dying. The whole thing was just bizarre. We haven't had an episode since the 14th.

He was checked for diabetes and was normal. It hasn't happened again so we're hoping it was something that won't happen again. He will be adopted and can go to a home with kids. He's very rambunctious, plays with his brother for hours at a time, and seems to be totally normal now, although the adoptor will be told of his history.

Really bad video - but it shows how out of it he was.

Nope. When I foster, they stay in their crate at night and are only out in the living room when I am here. There is nothing in this room that would be toxic. The whole thing was just really odd.
