: Pass side PDL switch plate interest?
Alaskan_Toaster 03-10-2008, 10:20 PM I have contacted JDM Japan about purchasing the Power Door Lock switch backing plate (#10 below) for the US passenger's side. This does NOT include additional parts needed for the swap, it is ONLY the plate surrounding the switch and continuing behind the door handle.
Part + shipping to my destination is about $60 each (for one). About half of the total cost is shipping. I plan to purchase one for my E, but, if there is enough interest, I will inquire about getting a group shipping discount. Please LMK if you are interested so I can make the inquiry and get a closer price to those interested. They are plastic pieces and easily stacked, packed, and shipped, so it should cost less than $60 each (say, in groups of 10).... :D:D:D
dancetiludrop 03-10-2008, 11:22 PM Count me in...I've wanted to do this mod since I seen it two years ago on here. I need to dig up the old thread on how to wire this up too.
But I'm a 100% yes. You will need to see if you can get both grey & black.
Seattle SC 03-10-2008, 11:39 PM IIRC it is only available in grey.
dancetiludrop 03-10-2008, 11:45 PM If that's true, it's unfortunate as most probably have black. :|
Alaskan_Toaster 03-11-2008, 12:05 AM He told me it is available in two colors, but I have black, so that's what I requested. I can assume the other color is grey, but, will have to inquire if it actually is.:D
Once I will get a final tally of interest, I will recontact with the numbers, then post final cost/colors.....:smile:
BTW, this is NOT a profit venture, you pay actual cost plus shipping from here to your destination...... ;-)
and being plastic, it should be very cheap to ship from here.... :D
1fastvx 03-11-2008, 09:05 AM I am interested if they have a black one. Oh and dont you need the switch also for it to match up?
John
bh241 03-11-2008, 09:07 AM count me in for a gray one.
My wife has been bugging me for a year to put a lock switch on that door...
Alaskan_Toaster 03-11-2008, 02:28 PM They DEFINITELY have the black one (that's what I requested) and I just emailed back to find out if the other part number he gave me is for the gray one. I also asked if he would offer a bulk purchase and/or shipping discount so I can pass this on. I requested a quote for 10 of them - 5 of each color. If more members want them, I can always increase the quantity......:razz::razz:
Will let you know as soon as I do..... :)
Alaskan_Toaster 03-11-2008, 02:33 PM I am interested if they have a black one. Oh and dont you need the switch also for it to match up?
Yes, but you can get that through your local dealer, as the switch is the same for both sides. There are some threads about wiring this to work, and I will definitely need someone's assistance there.....:???::roll:
Alaskan_Toaster 03-12-2008, 05:13 PM OK, here's the update with an order of 10 (5 each color):
The price is for the Honda Element
Front inside case assy R (black) 72125-SCV-J01ZA : 2674yen x5
Front inside case assy R (gray) 72125-SCV-J01 : 2674yen x5
Domestic/Shipping costs : 3850yen
5% of commission : 1529yen
TOTAL : 32119yen
I used the figure of 29000yen (subtracted mine from the total).
At today's rates that coverts to less than $290.00 total, or, in other words - Less than $32 EACH (plus shipping from here which should be less than $3.00)!! :D:rolleyes:
JSGarage statement about fit: "Because we are unable to confirm if the color is same as the US model, please confirm the color code. Also, please confirm if you can use the JDM version parts to your Element".
I need help in two areas -
Help in confirming that these parts actually DO fit the US E (no doubts here, just want to confirm with someone who has dealt with JDM parts before) and
Commitments from members to buy these parts from me. I will not order almost $300 worth of parts for only two or three commited buyers. I can, and will, buy a smaller amount if nobody else speaks up. I AM going to buy one for myself, just wanted to extend the offer and savings on to other members. Remember my first post that if you bought them individually from this JDM dealer, at todays rates, it would run almost twice as much at over $58. EACH!!
Please LMK as soon as possible so I can get these ordered. Thanks!!
dancetiludrop 03-12-2008, 05:40 PM Like I said b4...i'm in 100%
I know someone (Shen) or another had done this mod on their E, so the parts should fit.
1fastvx 03-12-2008, 05:52 PM I am 100% in for a black one! Do you have a PayPal account?
John
perfdata 03-12-2008, 06:26 PM A_T, I'm in for black. No idea why since no one ever rides along with me.
LMK how and when to send you some $$$. If you need before you order that's fine with me.
Thank you for your efforts on this.
ramblerdan 03-12-2008, 07:09 PM Help in confirming that these parts actually DO fit the US E (no doubts here, just want to confirm with someone who has dealt with JDM parts before)
I purchased the JDM driver's side case assembly (inside door handle), part #72125-SCV-J01ZB (gray) from J's Garage in April 2006. It cost me $37 with shipping back then, so it sounds like your group buy is a pretty good deal. The folks at J's were nice to deal with, though buying from Japan was certainly more complicated than buying from a U.S. vendor.
Just to be safe, have the package shipped to an address (perhaps your workplace) where someone can sign for it if necessary. You wouldn't want them to send it back across the Pacific!

Thanks for the confirmation and mailing tip!!
Will let this go until tonight and post a tally (with names) and see how close we are (THANKS for all your responses)..... :D
I have, and prefer, Paypal, as it's easier considering my location and all (even though some members have had problems... ). I will post final costs once I order them and use the exhcnage rate for that day (plus $2.00 shipping from here (if it's more, I'll cover it)). :):)
Seattle SC 03-12-2008, 09:34 PM I'm in for a black one.
Alaskan_Toaster 03-12-2008, 11:08 PM This is the tally so far:
Black (sold out :D ): A_T, 1fastvx, dance, perfdata, and SeattleSC
Gray: bh241
So, there are still four gray ones left, LMK who else is interested.
If I can get at least two more commited for the gray, I will go ahead and purchase the lot of ten, giving everyone the better price and just put them on the Trading Post (no guarantee the price will remain the same, though.....)
EDIT: I might be able to swap more black and less gray ones (and still order 10), but, will let this go 'til this weekend to give the "grays" a chance at them..... :)
1fastvx 03-13-2008, 05:01 AM Why not see if the mods will allow this to be posted other places on the board for more exposure. I am sure they will let you since this is really a non-money making venture.
John
ramblerdan 03-13-2008, 08:14 AM Why not see if the mods will allow this to be posted other places on the board for more exposure.
I added a post to the Accessories, Care and Mods > Do-It-Yourself / Mods > Passenger Door Lock Switch (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=570814) thread and moved this thread from Trading Post to Group Buy. Let's not start another thread.
Alaskan_Toaster 03-13-2008, 01:11 PM I added a post to the .... thread and moved this thread from Trading Post to Group Buy. Let's not start another thread.
Thanks, rambler! I got to thinking about that and that we now have two pages of replies. First time "Group Buy" post-er , so I appreciate the move to a better forum. :)
Since this now has (hopefully) better exposure, want to give other members a chance to chime in before ordering. If I get a BIG response, then I will talk to them about a larger order/change in color quantities.....:razz:
Want to finalize this by this weekend, so LMK...... :-P
spdrcr5 03-13-2008, 01:16 PM A_T, can you change the ratio and add another black one for me? Let me know and I can PayPal the $$ to you. Let me know.
Rocket Dog 03-13-2008, 01:30 PM I'm late to the party and it looks like black ones are sold out. If you can get another black one, I'd like to be in on this as well. I can do paypal.
- Ted
bh241 03-13-2008, 01:33 PM Maybe I should just grab something and make a cut out in mine...
evidently I have the only gray interior in the world...
Seriously, if you don't get more grays, just order all black ones, I'll make do with what I have....
dancetiludrop 03-13-2008, 03:14 PM You could also probaby run this a little longer....bet you'll get 10/black & 5/greys.
Alaskan_Toaster 03-13-2008, 04:52 PM I can run this longer, NP. Want to offer this to as many members as I can. :)
I am in no big hurry to get this done (still have to buy the switch, etc. as well as have the weather to do it). It will probably be spring/summer for me.. :-|
With that said, I'll keep up with interim tallies and let everybody know when it seems I've gotten all the replies, then will finalize numbers.
Please IGNORE the SOLD on the black ones, then....... :-P:-P
Again, thanks for all the interest, glad I could offer this up.... :):-P
CancerGuy99 03-14-2008, 10:41 AM I'm in for a black one.
Any intrest in trading for a Made in the USA emblem?

That would be appreciated once these all come in. I know I will need help in this department as I've never wired PDL switches before.....:shock::rolleyes::razz::razz::raz z:
Thanks for the help!!
bh241 03-15-2008, 08:02 AM I know I will need help in this department as I've never wired PDL switches before.....
No need to worry about wiring it in, between us we can get the instructions made up. It should be a fairly easy process. My guess the hardest part will be actually routing the wires into the door - other than that, it's a piece of cake. :)
Seriously - am I the only gray???
FISH E 03-15-2008, 09:05 AM I'm in for a GREY one..... Yay another mod for my to do list
(well actually my son, resident Platinum Honda Tech!!)

SillyWilly 03-15-2008, 03:05 PM Yay!! I'm in for a black too.
chozn4service 03-15-2008, 07:09 PM OK guys, I copied and printed this thread and saved it into my Element file folder down in the storm cellar to look over during the event of a tornado. I know some of done it with success and the directions are listed/posted in layman terms. Hope anyone attempting this mod will find it helpful.
I too would like to do this mod and if anyone tries it, you may want to do a newer tutorial on it.
Peace!

accord driver 03-15-2008, 07:17 PM Alaskan,
I would like a black one please!! Count me in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alaskan_Toaster 03-15-2008, 09:49 PM OK, still adding them up. Please DON'T PM, ONLY because I want to make sure I catch everybody who wants one and it's easier if they are all in one location/thread....... :):):)
Probably will do a final tally by next weekend.........
Alaskan_Toaster 03-16-2008, 07:00 PM [QUOTE=Alaskan_Toaster;570692]OK, NEW tally::
Black: A_T, 1fastvx, dance, perfdata, SeattleSC, spdrcr5, RD, CancerGuy99, Silly Willy, Wilyumm, and accord driver
Gray: bh241, FISH E
PLEASE LMK if I missed anyone.
Probably going to let this go until next weekend...... :)
chozn4service 03-16-2008, 07:49 PM Hook a brotha up! I'm in too. I need black, Ithink, I'm not sure. My door handle lookd gray but the switch on the drivers side looks black, or is it gray, or dark gray? Heck I don't know. You all know I'm Tango Red Pearl and my interior is the black and gray. All I know is I want one.
Are we all going to do this mod at the International meet in the parking lot?
FISH E 03-16-2008, 08:20 PM I've looked at mine about fifty times and I'm really not sure what color mine is, grey or black  I'm down for a grey, but if the consensus is black.......well you know what Chozn says...................:D I'll go BLACK. Make it a simple order A-T!!!
RUSTY
dancetiludrop 03-16-2008, 09:47 PM I would think accord would need grey unless he's done some modification to the interior.
Chozn...you're door switch has to be black in the TRP....the grey is pretty light in color.
chozn4service 03-16-2008, 10:37 PM Yea, I was thinking mine was black too.
ramblerdan 03-17-2008, 08:57 AM "Black" is actually charcoal. The gray is a fairly light shade:
http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/e/images/passenger_door_lock.jpg
chozn4service 03-17-2008, 09:10 AM As Wesley Snipes said in the movie Passenger 57, "Always Bet On Black"!
I need black. Black it is.
accord driver 03-17-2008, 05:59 PM Dance,
I have an 07, the trim is black.
dancetiludrop 03-17-2008, 08:07 PM Very interesting...didn't know they made that change from the 06 color.
You'd think I would have noticed that when I saw you last fall
NismoGriff 03-17-2008, 11:37 PM Hey...count me in for a GREY one. It has been confirmed that the USDM driver side switch will mount to this plate with the proper orientation, correct? I'm sure I probably just read right past that info.
Alaskan_Toaster 03-18-2008, 12:19 AM Good, good, glad to add another gray one. Keep 'em comin'....... :):):-P:-P

Hmmm, I just saw this and I am now second guessing what color I really need  What color are you saying that picture is?? Where is the interior color code number located on the E ?? I know it's inside the door opening on my Civic.
dancetiludrop 03-18-2008, 09:05 PM You would know if you had the grey interior....it's a very light grey color. If you're looks dark at all it's the black.
spacEman 03-19-2008, 01:09 AM I'm in for a BLACK one. I do paypal.
ramblerdan 03-19-2008, 06:20 AM Hmmm, I just saw this and I am now second guessing what color I really need  What color are you saying that picture is??
The part in the photo is gray.
Alaskan_Toaster 03-21-2008, 03:36 PM Since it appears all that are going to reply and get in on this have done so. I will let this run through Sun morning, then post final tallies for everyone.
PLEASE double check my final tally to make sure I didn't miss anyone. :)
Once I do a final, I will send it forward and get our final costs and post them. I will make the order once I get at least 90% of the total funds (minus the cost for mine, of course) in my Paypal account. If you need to pay different than Paypal, please PM me. :-D:-D
Hope to get them ordered next week...... 8):-D
NismoGriff 03-22-2008, 11:39 PM The part in the photo is gray.
Ha...ok, then mine is grey. Not sure why I doubted it was
Rocket Dog 03-22-2008, 11:53 PM Where did you post your paypal info Alaskan_Toaster? I'm in for a BLACK one. I owe you $34 (that includes $2.00 for shipping?)
Set me straight on what I owe.
- Ted
Alaskan_Toaster 03-23-2008, 09:25 AM :neutral:OK, here are the final numbers:
Black: A_T, 1fastvx, dance, perfdata, SeattleSC, spdrcr5, RD, CancerGuy99, Silly Willy, Chozn, spaceman, mizsydney, and accord driver * = 13 black
Gray: bh241, FISH E, Nismo = 3 Gray
PLEASE LMK if I missed anyone.
* Wllyumm (from last tally) changed his mind.
Assuming silence is agreement, if I don't receive any changes by tomorrow morning, I will go on the assumption the above is correct. I will then send the order numbers forward and get a final cost for everyone. I will also post my Paypal account info at that time for transfers.
PAYPAL note - they charge a fee for payments transfered by CC or your PP account balance.
EDIT: Because I have a Premier Paypal account, the PP fees are only 2.9%, +.30 for each transaction. Figuring (hopefully) high at $40, that works out to be less than $1.50 in fees. I will post item cost, PP fees, and shipping once I get a response from the seller (Tues, maybe?).
mizsydney 03-23-2008, 12:45 PM I haven't checked my email lately and I just learned about the group buy - is it too late to get in for a black one? I can paypal you within the hour if needed-
Alaskan_Toaster 03-23-2008, 12:51 PM I haven't checked my email lately and I just learned about the group buy - ......
Gotcha added!!
Alaskan_Toaster 03-25-2008, 06:51 PM PMs sent to everyone who is participating!!

accord driver 03-25-2008, 08:55 PM Thank's Alaskan!
A couple of questions.
Are we paying you now or are we waiting for info if he has enough stock?
Also are we going to pay you for shipping later or should we include something with this payment?
I just want to make sure you are taken care of for all your troubles!!!!
Thanks!

I did forget a couple of things and am now "paying" for it by being asked the same questions by all. MY FAULT!! :-(:oops:
Anyway, yes, please pay now so I will have the funds when they do have enough inventory (if they don't now). That way, I can immediately pay when they can fulfill it.
Forgot to add the $2.00 shipping, please add that to your total.
Also, please add @hotmail.com to my Paypal username or it won't transfer right.
Sorry for any confusion or challenges this may have caused.....
accord driver 03-27-2008, 06:21 PM Hello Alaskan,
I just made the amount an even $35, it was just easier... I think the others who haven't paid should do the same, but that's my opinion.
Thanks again!!!
Alaskan_Toaster 03-27-2008, 10:49 PM Thanks to everyone for the quick responses with the funds!!
Got a word back and they do have the parts in stock. Because it's with a foreign business, there is a couple of things that need done before sending. Hope to have them and ready to send out in a couple of weeks. Will let everyone know when I do... :-):-P:-P:-P
EDIT: Just talked with Honda parts. The switch is $14.95 and the (driver's side) wiring harness is 65.09. I'm assuming that's retail, because that's all they know how to charge here. Don't know if we will need the harness, yet, but, at least the switch is cheap!!
globalnomad 04-05-2008, 09:52 PM I haven't even picked up my 08 NBP yet (1 week to go!!) but can I get in on this? I know I'm late.
StingRay 04-05-2008, 11:18 PM Thanks to everyone for the quick responses with the funds!!

I was just reading about your mod. Since I was bored, with nothing else to do, I went to Majestic Honda website and searched the parts. The switch in gray is $6.39, in black $7.37, and the wiring harness is $38.35. Not bad and might be worth buying the harness just to get the oem connector.

Do you, by chance, have the diagram for the harness? I was going to pick one up when I bought the switch and post it, but, if you already have it.... :-)

No, Just the basic one that is on the Ordering web site. It looks to be just basic. Now that I think about it...all you will probably use is the part that comes off the lock switch, The rest will go to mirrors, the drivers side window control, which will be different than the pass side, and the lock actuator. So all you will probably rob is the connector for the switch. The more I think about, for $almost 40 bucks, I would just make my own like the other thread here. As far as the screws, they are probably self tapping, I would look for them at the hardware store instead of paying Hondas inflated prices for them. Take the part when you get it to ACE or equivalent and find the size that fits best. They are a 3x8 pan screw. .25 at Honda probably .05 at ACE
perfdata 04-06-2008, 02:30 PM I believe this is the correct pn for the wiring harness:
32751-SCV-A10
Looks like the A10 got dropped.

a10 is the tailgate harness, a11 is the drivers door harness
Here is the link where I am getting my part numbers for the Element wire harness. Majestic is cheaper but they do not list the parts by Honda part number.
https://www.hondapartsdeals.com/honda_parts_list.php?hp_queried_components=0&hp_series_id=2467&hp_series_model=ELEMENT&hp_series_year=2008&hp_series_door_ext_grade=5DR+SC&hp_series_transmission=5AT&hp_series_slsareacd=KA&hp_system=E&hp_component=B++07
perfdata 04-06-2008, 05:39 PM Here's where I'm getting it from:
http://www.perfectiondata.com/images/e/dswiringharness.jpg
I checked again, I'm getting A10.
Just don't want someone getting the wrong part, most sources won't take special order items back. Majestic sent me a wrong part (Honda changed the part, not my fault ordering the wrong part, based it on description, not part number) but I have to pay the shipping to get a refund, $13 shipping for a $20 part. I'll order only using part numbers going forward, then I can say "you subbed the pn, you eat the shipping back."
Going forward I won't order from any source who does not use part numbers. I bought a printed parts list which doesn't have wiring but everything else is in there, worth the $3 I paid for it.
lizzurd 04-06-2008, 05:44 PM The reason you are getting different part numbers is that one of you is looking at 2004 MY listings and the other is looking at 2008 MY listings. A10 and A11 will both be correct depending on the model year you look up.
perfdata 04-06-2008, 05:58 PM Thanks for the clarification. That seems so unlike Honda, reusing a part number for a diiferent part in a different year.

No problem.... I can't check till tommorow. But i will check to see if the A10 supersedes up to A11 as i suspect. Normally when the last 3 of a part number change its due to a design change or running production change.
Alaskan_Toaster 04-06-2008, 11:33 PM THANKS perf and lizzurd for your help in getting the right numbers for us. MUCH appreciated to get us off on the right foot on this mod.....:razz::razz::razz:

spdrcr5 04-22-2008, 11:51 AM Just curious about the wiring harness that is being discussed. What part of the harness will you be using? Just the part that plugs into the door lock switch? Where will you plug the other end into? Do you expect the harness to be just sitting under the dash somewhere waiting for the Japanese harness to be plugged in?
Seriously, what is everyone's plans on connecting the switch?

As far as I'm aware of Larry, there is no 'harness'. I think some are thinking (or hoping) that there is, but there isn't. Everyone is going to have to run at least two wires from the passenger's door over to the far side of the dash - near the driver's door. The third wire will have to go to a good ground.
I'll take some pictures when I get around to installing mine and post them for everyone. Bottom line, it's not going to be a major problem installing this switch at all. It's just not going to be a 'plug-n-play' kinna thing either...

I agree with you, but perfdata is discussing buying the drivers side harness to use on the passenger side. That's what I was questioning. To me all you'd get out of that is the one connector to plug in, then the need to cut and terminate lots of wires.
Make your instructions nice and detailed with lots of pics. Create a new thread and I can add it to the HowTo section. :)
dancetiludrop 04-22-2008, 03:44 PM Only thing I would like is some type of way to take the door skin off and unplug the door locks, just like the driver side. As much as I take mine on and off with mods to speakers and everything it would be much more convenient.
ramblerdan 04-22-2008, 03:50 PM A junkyard car could provide the lock connector; the switch is the same on either side. There's already a thread on this mod here (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6350). My how-to (http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/e/passenger_door_lock.htm) might be of some value as a reference, even though I wired my switch to operate the passenger's door only, necessitating a more complex system and, to the point here, tapping into different wires.
bh241 04-22-2008, 05:13 PM I see dance's point. But honestly to fork out what $50.00 or more for a connector??
come on now, guys we're smarter than that, aren't we?? :-o
Look at it this way, even if one solders the dang wires to the switch, all you have to do is remove two small screws and the switch is totally disconnected from the door panel...
If you're seriously considering tossin' $50.00 out for a harness, can I have the left over wire and connectors?? :D
I've ordered the switch, I should have it in a few days (we'll see if owner's link does better this time...) Once I can lay hands on the switch, I'll have a better idea of exactly what needs to be done for the connections. But seriously, it won't cost $5.00 much less $50.00...
Alaskan_Toaster 04-22-2008, 10:50 PM I'm hoping others will have some tips on this question by the time I can do the install. I'm REALLY counting on not needing the $65 (retail) harness. I kinda figured it was just a little wiring......:)
Will pick up my switch in a week or so, then work on the "rest" (unfortunately the Svc Man I bought from HandA is sitting at my son's (cheaper shipping) and won't get it until next month). Soon, very soon......
BTW, parts are in and (most) are on the way, just waiting on a couple more address confirmations to finish the process..... :D:D
accord driver 04-25-2008, 09:10 PM Got the part today!!! Yipee!!! Funny, the label says Made in the United States. Yet we ordered them from Japan.. Ha ha...
dancetiludrop 04-25-2008, 09:47 PM Got mine today too! Thanks :D Will try to order my switch here soon.
If there's an easy way to disconnect w/o the harness I'll go for that too....$50 is too much.
accord driver 04-25-2008, 10:15 PM I'll raid my connector supply and see if any older models have a plug that fits...
ramblerdan 04-25-2008, 10:25 PM Fabbing an easily detachable connector at the switch could be unduly difficult, and unnecessary. You can attach wires to the switch by whatever method you like best, temporary or permanent. Common spade or bullet connectors a couple of inches down the wires will allow for easy dis-/reconnection.
Meanwhile, one way of connecting to the switch:

Benny,
IIRC, red is power. Don't remember whether blue or yellow is lock/unlock. For more on that particular installation, click on the photo. (But you've probably already seen that page, eh?)
bh241 04-29-2008, 08:27 PM Thanks.
I got the switch yesterday after work. Now all that is left is to find the time to do the actual install.
I've got to make a rescue run tomorrow, and I really need to do some yard work the next day. It looks like it's gonna be either Friday evening at the earliest or Saturday before I'll have the time to do the mod.
At any rate, it's gonna happen in the next few days. I'll get it all documented and we'll go from there. I assume a post in the diy/mods forum?
chozn4service 04-29-2008, 08:38 PM I didn't make it to the dealership to get my switch and screws today since the Mrs. played sick and stayed home. I'll run to Penske in the morning and pick it up from the parts dept. Set me back $11.00 for the switch and the two screws.
I cut out my CF cover that I had on the passenger side so it'll accommodate the the switch like the drivers side. Came out really nice! I'll pull the outer ring CF trim off the passenger side plate and put it on the new door handle plate and all will be well. I also plan to stop by the RS and get some of those connectors and I need wire but not sure how much I'll need but hopefully I have everything. What I'm really going to need is a step by step tutorial on how to do this. Pics on pulling the door panel, running the wires and where to tap. I there won't be any mod meets going on here anytime soon with anyone else doing this mod, so I'm it in Indy and as always, I'm looking for the assist in layman's terms. bh241, I know you're the man with all the help you gave me on the AUX console wiring and the glitch I had. Much appreciated on that issue!
Anyway, keep us posted on the process. I want to get this done as soon as possible. Trying to tie up all those loose ends as I have a major project coming up within the next week or so and I really need to buckle down and make one purchase for the Precious and see about getting things finalized for Ohio.
Peace!
bh241 04-29-2008, 08:58 PM Yea, I'll do some pics and outline the whole process. I'm thinking I'll outline how to do the passengers door switch to act exactly like the drivers, since that's what my wife wants. Actually - what she has wanted for a good while...
Any one who wants just the passenger door can check out ramblerdan's site - there's not much to add to what he's done there really.
Grab the switch first then do the RS trip. There might be a decent connector that would work, I'm thinking maybe something like this (http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/KC-300733.pdf) would work. I'll try and take a look-see and get a decent idea of the exact part tomorrow.
At any rate, it's gonna be a smooth mod, looks like the hardest part will be pulling the plastic panels. :| Not that any of us have ever done something like that before...
chozn4service 04-30-2008, 10:07 AM Well, just got back from Penske Honda and the parts guy gave me my switch and the screws were free! He asked what I was doing and when I explained it, he asked for my switch and plate, took it in the back and came back with the switch screwed in place and three pigtail connectors to the switch. He said they get stuff like that all the time. He said now all I have to do is get more wire to run from where I need to go from these pigtails. I plan to take them to work with me today and put some shrink wrap on them to isolate them from each other but other than that. I'm good to go. My CF cover where I cut out the opening looks real nice and the switch fits nicely through it. So much so the parts guy thought it came like that.
Can't wait on the write up on how to proceed from here.
Peace!
Rocket Dog 04-30-2008, 10:10 AM I'm going to copy Benny cuz he's smart.
NismoGriff 05-01-2008, 11:50 PM Got my handle last week too, ordered the switch today $8 and some change my cost. I figure I can find a connector that will plug into the switch in my couple of boxes of Honda harness bits OR I will just go down to the salvage yard and cut one off of something. I just plan on grounding in the passenger kick and running the other two wires over to the driver's kick and taping into the lock/unlock wires there. I am perfectly fine with both doors unlocking from either switch. Should only take about 20 mins to a half and hour to do.

Yes...... and no. Here is the website of the dealer I dealt with in Japan.
http://www.j-garage.com/
I have nothing but GREAT things to say about their communications, customer service, answering any and all questions, etc. Plus, their price dropped nicely when I went from purchasing one versus 16.
I do have a black one that is still unspoken for, but, having said that, there were a couple of members that emailed me about this prior. If they are still interested, LMK via PM (yes, I still have their emails).:D
And, yes, I will do another GB if there is enough interest and nobody wants to take this on themselves......:D:D
OH, BTW, the remaining PDL plates I had were shipped out today, so everybody should have theirs shortly...... :)
Thanks again to everybody for a great Group Buy!!
bh241 05-03-2008, 04:45 PM OK, guys as promised, the write up on how to install the switch is in the DIY forum. Again, this describes how to wire it up to function exactly as the switch on the driver's door operates.
If you prefer to operate the passenger door only, check out the write up on ramblerdan's page (http://www.skidmore.edu/%7Epdwyer/e/passenger_door_lock.htm) - there honestly isn't anything I could add to that.
Have fun, if you run into any problems shoot me a pm or an email.
prior8t2000 05-08-2008, 08:25 PM About this group buy?
I some how thought that this might come up, that I was going to miss out!
O'well, just my bad call, I've been hanging around my other site at
G2IC.COM.
All because, I have wanted to update my 1990 Acura Integra GSR with more JDM parts'.
Plus, I have been spending way to many green backs on there site.
I think it's best just to wait for the GROUP BUY.
Please let me know
Cecil..........

Well, Cecil, looks like we're up to 2 for a group buy. I'm interested. I wonder if extras would sell on ebay?
bh241 05-08-2008, 09:03 PM Guys, I would think it should be easy enough to get another 8 or so together and just do another group buy.
Everything is documented between this thread and the install thread - it's pretty much a no-brainer now.
Seriously, set up a group buy, what have you got to loose?
Alaskan_Toaster 05-08-2008, 09:11 PM Well, Cecil, looks like we're up to 2 for a group buy. I'm interested. I wonder if extras would sell on ebay?
Probably, but, there are other members, like yourselves, that have inquired after the fact about this mod, so you should sell several here.
I won't be able to do another GB, if nobody beats me to it, until next month, but, if I do, I will allow more time before placing the order because the "word" is out from this one. Would want to get as many members in as possible. :-P:)
Like I mentioned above, J's Garage gets my two thumbs up for customer service and a great transaction, if you decide to do it yourself.
JSm00thJaZ3 05-08-2008, 10:17 PM I have followed this thread for a while, and I would be interested in this also. Would I be the third person for this group buy?

Nope, a few more than that, and that's without any advertisement. Hope to break the 15 I had last time, if it's me that does it again......:grin::grin:

Alaskan_Toaster, in case I didn't already, I want to thank you for the initial group buy on the PDL. I have mine as promised and I also got a Honda connector from another member (same as your source) that fits into the switch that I got from the dealership. Now, all I have to do is find the time to do the install on it, which I hope to try and do this weekend. Don't know though, Mother's Day weekend.
Again, that's so much and mine looks good since I added the carbon fiber pieces to it and I took the plain c.f. piece where the switch is and cut out the opening for it and it looks super! Can't wait to get it in.
Anyone who wants to get the part, I suggest you chime in now with your commitment, so others will get on board and then, whoever decides to head up the group buy will have an idea and can start the process to get the funds and ordering. One big issue is coordinating the color for the part.
perfdata 05-09-2008, 07:03 PM A_T, I got mine the other day also, thank you very much for all of your time and efforts to put a smile on a lot of us. I'm probably looking at October for an install date but I'm ready.
chozn4service 05-13-2008, 06:41 PM Got mine installed today. Had some issues getting the wires through the rubber grommet but finally got it done. Grounded right behind the glove box and then I ran the last two wires over to the drivers side. I had problems getting the C751 connector apart and therefore I had to abandon my final connections to get ready for work. I'll give it another try in the morning. Once I make these final connections to the lock/unlock wires on the drivers side, I'll have it completed in its entirety. Can't wait. In the meantime, my lug nuts, stems and hub rings came in today and now, I can get my new tires and wheels mounted. Probably not tomorrow but maybe Thursday or Friday. Its all starting to come together. Little by little, step by step. Slowly I turned, inch by inch.:D
Flashbox 05-14-2008, 12:26 PM Count me in on round 2 as well.
Alaskan_Toaster 05-14-2008, 10:36 PM OK, putting up my last pass door handle for this mod on the Trading Post. It will include the PDL switch, so all you need is the attachment screws, wiring, and time.
Fastest typer gets it..... :rolleyes::evil:

I'm not sure there is an active group buy going on right now. I'm going to be purchasing a few if no one takes the lead soon. You need black or gray? I'm probably just going to order 5 or 6 black ones (it's what I need and it seems to be the most popular color) and hope I can get what I paid for out of the extras.

AppleAficionado 05-20-2008, 08:59 PM I'm going to order this part on Monday, May 26th, at 12 noon. If anyone is interested, PM me.

Here is info from Yosi:
"Element
Front inside case ASSY R (black) 72125-SCV-J01ZA : 2574yen
Domestic/Shipping costs : 3950yen
5% of commission : 326yen
TOTAL : 6850yen"
-------------------------------------------
So today, it would be US$66.32 (6850yen) total ...
It costs US$38.34 to ship. The part itself is only US$28.08.
From A_T's early posts, shipping 10 won't cost much more than shipping one. A few bucks to ship from me to you ought to make it around $35 ($28 for part, $4 shipping Japan to USA, $3 shipping USA to USA).
PM me for details.

Hey, Alaskan_Toaster! Did Yosi keep you updated, like "your order has shipped"?
I was very happy with Yosi's constant contact. :)
With my order, he said he had all the parts in stock, but, he came up two short. When I asked if he would ship what he had then the two later, he had no problem with that. He did got ahold the other two and ended up shipping them all together, ALOT quicker than I expected.
I also got the impression that, even though he said they were in stock, he didn't really move on the order until he received the funds (but once the transaction was completed, he got the order together, and shipped, quickly).
If you ever have any questions, or just need an update, he is more than happy to accomodate.
Hope this helps,
A_T
bh241 05-28-2008, 06:44 AM The whole install procedure is documented in the DIY/Mods (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45754) forum.
If you really need the schematic I can scan it for you, but really all you need to do is splice into two wires...
Espina 05-28-2008, 10:22 AM ...Thanks BH, It's for my own edification as I was curious about a few things posted earlier:
1. Ground return thru the door grommet boot. I would think the door it self would suffice as the lock actuators appear to be grounded on the door.
2. Sometimes (other) wiring harnesses (nearby) have spare (unused) wires that return to the relay & control unit.
bh241 05-28-2008, 10:47 AM Any metal part of the car would suffice for the ground really. I chose to use one in the 'sub' area - mainly because it was easy to get access to.
The control wires for the locks (assuming you want to control all the locks) go straight from the driver's door lock switch to the MCU/Under Dash Fuse/Relay box - only one connector between them (the one I describe in the DIY post).
All in all, it's an easy mod to do - just aggravating to get at for us older guys.

My wife is gonna love it.
Hey chozn! Where did you route your wires? I'm thinking I'll route them behind the glove box, but I can't figure out those releases on the inside of the box work.
chozn4service 06-06-2008, 09:32 PM I ran my wires through the boot of the door jamb and once I got through, I just took a large zip tie and fed it through towards the drivers side. Once there it was a matter of grounding at the common ground point just behind the subwoofer on the left and side of it, then take your other two wires to the connector just above the parking brake and tap into the white wire with blue stripe and the white wire with green stripe. These are the lock/unlock from the drivers door. Its a bear to tap into these but this is where the surgery is performed.
The glove box releases are that bad. Just push it back towards the firewall and reach on the outter side of it and squeeze the tabs together. They'll pop out and the box will fall forward.
Peace!

Hey chozn! Where did you route your wires? I'm thinking I'll route them behind the glove box, but I can't figure out those releases on the inside of the box work.
Amen on making the wife happy - Happy Wife, Happy Life!!
In regards to wire routing, there is a lip, once you drop the glovebox you'll see it, on the back side of the bottom lip of the g-box hole. I tucked mine right there, then took my wire coat hanger (very handy during this mod), taped the wire to it, and carefully fed it straight through to the other side. It does go through, just don't push too hard. You can't even see where I put the wires, VERY nice..... :D:D
Here's a link to cabin filter replacement, might help in glovebox removal issues:

Thanks for the advice! That's exactly what I just did! I'm hoping to get this wiring project more-or-less done by the time the switch plate arrives. I've got the wires routed behind the dash ... very slick! Next is tap into the driver's side wires, fix my ground, take the door apart and route the other end of the wires. I think I'll do a hillbilly rig and run the wires under the existing non-switch plate and have an externalized switch under I get Yosi's part.

Sounds like a plan. If you look at my earlier post (responding to Chozn's dilemma before he found out that it was the switch) with the pix showing where I spliced in, there is an arrow showing where I grounded mine. There is a bolt almost directly above the harness I grounded mine to, works well and I didn't have to go multimeter searching.....:D:lol:
Just a quick word on Yosi's shipping - once he gets the parts together, it will be on your doorstep VERY shortly thereafter. He is very efficient! :D:smile:

35380-S9V-A02ZD= The Black Color AKA Graphite:confused: Black
...<<<$10 at the dealer....
Edit: BTW the colors vary from A to G. Greys, Black & Beige-like. I'm guessing the actual switch is the same if one wishes to customize a bit.

The part number I have for the switch is 35380-S9V-A02ZB=the grey color
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/bh241/EOC/mods/IMG_2459-small.jpg
But the way Honda does, it may well be a different number for the exact same part for a different year...
Espina 06-10-2008, 07:09 PM ...bh may be right!!! Check w/ the parts guy when you order (unless wanting a different color) to make sure...!!!
A wild card (*) search at Majestic using 35380-S9V-A02Z* yields the following:

I'm pretty sure the colors descend alphabetically so A= Fern, B= CF Grey, C=Saddle, D=Graphite Black...& so on...
Sorry to confuse things..
AppleAficionado 06-11-2008, 01:36 PM Yosi's package arrived today. He shipped it on the 8th and it arrived early on the 11th. Not bad!
Later today, I'll be accepting the PayPal payment people have previously sent. Thursdays are my busiest days of the work week, but I hope to mail them out tomorrow.
Kevin Moore 06-12-2008, 08:42 AM Got any leftover blacks? Missed group buy.
Me too! If they are any extra let me know I want to add the passenger door lock.

I thought I was on the list, but did not follow up. So, I'll put my name on the list, if getting enough people is what is needed. And this time, I'll make sure to stay in the loop.
chozn4service 06-15-2008, 09:13 AM Let me say it again, THIS IS THE BEST MOD YOU CAN DO FOR YOU ELEMENT!:-D
If you guys need to, start another list of who may want to do this mod some the parts can be ordered. Alaskan_Toaster did it the right way. He asked who was interested and what color they needed. Once he got his numbers, he had everyone who wanted it to PM him with their contact info for shipping. He then requested everyone PP him with the funds and he made the order. It was painless and quick. I know I've heard several who missed on on the first and the second order. With that being said, make another thread list and see what you have and go for it.
Peace!

Excellent advice. I was surprised/disappointed that I only hit 3 responses prior to my pre-order. The price per piece can become much more reasonable if we order in larger quantities.
Now that I have one order under my belt, I'd be willing to do another. Here's how it would work:
- total cost: $40 (I did $35 last time & it really didn't divide overseas shipping equitably).
- you MUST PM me (I might miss a post here).
- prepay with PayPal (from bank account only; PP starts charging you if you accept more than 5 CC payments per year, I think).
- must specific GRAY (very light) or BLACK (very dark) at the time of payment (or you'll get BLACK).
Let me know (PM) if there is interest.
If anyone is interested, I would be willing to place an order June 30th
Does anyone have a definate "yes" that I can order a black switch and plate?
accord driver 06-24-2008, 10:11 PM Ghost, you would just need the black PDL face and an 07-08 switch.
Kevin Moore 06-26-2008, 11:27 AM Money sent Apple. Thanks

Hey Cecil! Where have you been? Check your PMs. I've sent you several over the past 30 days. I hooked you up with FISH-E who inadvertently purchased a gray on the first group buy. I didn't accept the PayPal payment, since I figured you'd probably buy his. He told me a few weeks ago that you had not purchased it, so I sent you another PM asking for your address. The PayPal transaction details showed no address for you. I never heard back, so I never accepted the payment.
I still have the gray switch plate. Thankful no one at the EOC Meet in Dublin wanted one (Actually, I have two gray ones because I purchased FISH-E's gray plate at the Meet).
Please do the following:
1. Check with PayPal to verify that I never accepted the payment.
2. Send me your mailing address.
3. Resend the payment via PayPal.
I can get the switch out as soon as you do the above.
Thanks!
Greg

If they snooze, they loose! Don't worry about it after your deadline my friend. You can't carry these people around and enable them. Do what you have to do and move on. You've done well!
Peace!

AppleAficionado 07-03-2008, 10:22 PM To those of you involved in the most recent group order, Yosi confirmed my credit card payment yesterday evening. I'm guessing he'll mail out the order early next week.
Excellent! Can't wait to do this mod!

duplicated02 01-10-2009, 11:34 PM I will commit to one grey one when a group orders more. Anyone initiating? I would just order direct, but I don't know what the part number is for the grey one in Japan..!

NighthawkBlackPearlEX-P 01-11-2009, 10:36 AM Please, someone prove me wrong! There will be no more group buys on the JDM R/H inside door handle. I've stated the reason for my opinion already. Not going to do it again.
Someone prove me wrong or close this false hope thread.

I think you're right. No more E's in Japan and so no more parts being made in US and shipped there to assemble/replace, so no way to 'buy' in Japan and get sent to US, etc.
There IS someone now manufacturing these out of house, if you're interested in sending in your PDL unit to replenish his supply after you get the unit that he's made.
Ask around for that one!
RallyRedShon 10-21-2009, 12:27 AM So are the passenger door handles no longer available? I just need one and did not find them on the JDM site.
Anyone one have a black one they want to part with?

I just got mine from japan today along with some other stuff, one item took 6 months for them to get in but said the door handles are available, the price went up and the exchange rate is horrible so it cost me about $50 shipped for it.
Flat Lander 01-02-2012, 10:10 PM Anyone order one recently or have current pricing?
