: Thank you to the guy at Starbucks!
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 12:26 AM Hey, this is your local roseville barista! I had never heard of the EOC until today when I was leaving work and I was stopped by a guy in the parking lot and we chatted for a quick minute about our Elements! Now, here I am! Thank you!!!
Margaret 03-15-2008, 01:07 AM How long have you had your Element? How about some pictures? And what is not so great about Roseville?
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 01:12 AM Ive had my Element since November 07.
Roseville is a great place to raise a family, but I am a 24 year old college student and Roseville doesnt offer the excitement that I thrive on. But that is why I LOVE my Element! My friends and I pile in and either take off to the mountains for some snowboarding, a weekend in San Francisco, or a ridiculous road trip to San Diego!
How do I post pictures on here???
Welcome to the Zoo Barista, As far as posting pics, as you are writing a reply if you scroll down and you'll find a "manage attachment" icon, click it and you'll see where you can brouse your files and add three attachments of a particular size ( I always have to reduce mine). Also, search the "FAQ/How To's" that's very informative. And don't be offended when some of the Old Guys on this site start preaching about the "Search" feature. So, you got any pics of your E in Snow?
Starbucks, I love Starbucks. Did I ever tell you that I have every Starbucks Card ever made. (ok, I don't have any japanese cards) but I have all the US cards.
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 01:43 AM Hey Jet! Thank you so much! So, you are a bucks card collector too? I have a bunch of them, about 90% of the north american cards. Have you ever been to www.buckscards.com Its for collectors pretty much...
MyDearWatsonette 03-15-2008, 01:46 AM That's a riot - your E is a coffee car!
Welcome aboard, Local Barista!
And where was all that snow?
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 01:55 AM My E is a coffee car, im tellin ya, I am true Starbucks girl! haha. The snow was up at Boreal.. aka Boring Hill, back in mid January. It was a pretty epic day up on the slopes!
All that coffee is my evidence that Starbucks really does donate coffee to the troops! I dont know if any of ya'll got the email that was going around saying that we dont really donate coffee to the troops... its all shenanagens! My friends and I went on a 36 hour, 1100 mile road trip to San Diego to deliver over 500lbs of coffee! My E still smells like coffee!!!

Oh behalf of troops who drink coffee (pretty much all of them) I want to say a grateful metabolism salutes you. :D
bikerjosh 03-15-2008, 10:51 AM Howdy, I've been working for Starbucks for quite a while (six digit partner number). I found this group/site about 6 months after I bought my 03'. Since then I've gotten tons of help from it's members on maintaining and modding the E; and even gone on three camp outs with a pretty great bunch of owners. Welcome to the group.
BTW-I'm an OPM w/Licienced Stores West based out of Alameda, CA (although I'm hardly ever there):D
Josh
PS- JET I still owe you those old shareholder cards as soon as I brave the horror that is my office closet. lol
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 11:40 AM So tell me Josh, how do I complain about service at a licenced store????
We just had a partner transfer to my store from Alameda, the store right on the other side of the tunnel. She doesnt know what she got herself into coming to our store- we are a CRAZY bunch! haha!
I will have to find you @ *$ next time I am down there!
PS- JET I still owe you those old shareholder cards as soon as I brave the horror that is my office closet. lol I hadn't forgotten, I just didn't want to be a pest. When is our next encounter? The Rocky's ? Lake Casitas ? Junebug's Big Gala ? I can guarantee it won't be in Katy, Texas.
Farther 03-15-2008, 12:58 PM You need to post pictures of Violet!
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 01:05 PM This is my new lil girl Violet! She is a lab, german short hair, possible bassett mix. She is CRAZY!
Farther 03-15-2008, 01:13 PM What a sweetheart!
Local_Barista 03-15-2008, 01:15 PM Yeah you say that now... But she has already eaten my phone charger, my computer charger, and probably some of the kids toys! She lives in NC with my boyfriend and his three insane children! So, its kind of a match made in heaven! haha!
Anybody up to meet up at my Starbucks tomorrow for a lil gathering?
Alaskan_Toaster 03-15-2008, 02:16 PM ....I had never heard of the EOC until today when I was leaving work and I was stopped by a guy in the parking lot and we chatted for a quick minute about our Elements!!!
It's amazing how one finds out about places like this. I was on fleabay looking at a turn signal switch Poor_Mans_Hummer was selling after doing the fogs mod and I asked a question about the mod (knowing I was going to do this shortly) and HE asked me if I knew about the EOC!! Now I do it....
Still :razz::razz: (and thankful) that he told me about it.... :)
Welcome and glad to have you along for the ride, but, hang on, it can get bumpy at times.....:lol:
djsn1 03-15-2008, 04:32 PM yoo yooo welcome to eoc djsn1 from sacramento!
jdiane 03-15-2008, 04:38 PM welcome local barista! :)Hopefully there will be another bay area meet soon and we can all meet up with you sactown Es! :D
Tim Vance 03-15-2008, 08:39 PM Hello and Welcome!
Thanks for the offer for a meet (being the meet ho's we are...:D)
But even if we left right now, it'll be Tuesday before we get there:cry:
Tell ya what, we'll meet ya half way - come to the International Meet in June!
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 12:55 AM hey there canadian! where is the international meet??? Who knows, I might get crazy and take yet another road trip!
truckinbeagles 03-16-2008, 01:12 AM All that coffee is my evidence that Starbucks really does donate coffee to the troops! My E still smells like coffee!!!
I'm jealous that your E smells like coffee! But seriously, good work on bringing all that coffee to the troops!
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 01:15 AM Oh dont be jealous! I live twenty minutes northeast of Sacramento and by the time we drove into Sacramento we all had headaches! We ended up just popping up the rear sunroof and in pretty much got rid of the extremely strong stench!
Everything I take to work smells like coffee... My hair is the worst! As much as I love Starbucks and coffee, I dont like bringing it home with me! haha!
Rocket Dog 03-16-2008, 07:51 AM hey there canadian! where is the international meet??? Who knows, I might get crazy and take yet another road trip!
Here's the International Meet he was referring to. It's in June in Dublin, Ohio (near Columbus). If you bring the Starbucks you'll be the most popular person there.

My E smells like dog and french fries.
Welcome to the funny farm. Have your jacket size handy.:D
BigAl205 03-16-2008, 10:58 AM Are you SURE that was coffe in the back of your E? People have been known to hide "cookies".
stocazzo 03-16-2008, 12:41 PM Hey there Local Barista! I finally get to say welcome (three pages in)!
I was at the Great Lakes Barista Competition yesterday. It was pretty cool.
http://www.greatlakesbaristacompetition.com/
Anyway...
Enjoy the E!!!
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 01:23 PM As much as I would LOVE to make it to Ohio in June I am doing the Relay for Life in my area in June. Although it is only one weekend for the Relay, I am pretty much dedicating my life to it until the Relay actually happens!
If anybody in the area wants to come out and support our team for the 2008 Relay for Life, let me know! Our team is Super People Helping Hero's! If you dont know what the Relay for Life is, ask me, cause it is AMAZING and I can spend hours talking about it!
Oh, and hello to everybody that has finally said hello to me! haha!
Are you a barista? Or were just at the competition? I should have been there, but I am just too amazing so they told me I couldnt participate! HAHAHAH, yeah right. But sounds like fun!

Point taken. I used to work at the Frito-Lay plant and my clothes just reeked of potatos and corn. I couldn't eat Frito-Lay chips for a couple of years after that and they control most of the market!
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 01:54 PM SOmething tells me I would rather smell like coffee than Fritos... Hehe.

You've obviously never been to Tim Horton's Ted!
Nothing against Starbucks, but there's a reason there are more Timmy's in Canada than Starbucks, and more coffee shops per capita than anywhere else in the world! (there is one coffee shop for every 900 ppl in Canada)
You've served with Canadians, haven't you Ted? You know that we ship Timmy's coffee, on weekly military flights, as essential cargo! (Tim Horton's even opened a 'store' in Afghanistan in the Canadian Compound!)

Sounds like there's a trip to Timmy's in my future. If you guys get together in August I should make the road trip.

I was just there. My friend works at a local place and said if I brought him there I would get free root beer. I got the free root beer and it was actually much more interesting that I thought it would be. 2 of the guys that he works with were finalists but I don't know who won today to go to nationals.
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 05:04 PM I have a great friend who lives in Canada and was telling me about Tim Hortons... I cant say anything bad about Starbucks because I work there, but I dont drink coffee anymore.
When I was in Greece this last summer I went to many many coffee shops there and it was some of the most amazing espresso I hve had in my life!
So, root beer is all it takes with you huh? For me, its cheez-its!

Yeah I'm not that big of a coffee guy but I'll get a mocha blanco every now and then for free from him of his girlfriend. It's pretty convenient. They work at a place called Alterra. Supposedly, it's a big(ger) name in the coffee biz (I have no idea...). He works at the one 2 blocks from me and she works at the one at the mall (and I LOVE the mall). I also will take free lemon poppy seed bread from them any time it is offered...
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 05:21 PM So you live in Wisconsin? Do you have a funny accent? haha. My family lives in Cheboygan, Michigan. Everytime I come back home from there I say things funny. Like the word root I pronounce like rut.

I don't!! The one that gets me the most is when they want to say creek but say crick. Ohhhh man. According to my east coast friends I do say "bag" funny, though.
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 05:33 PM Everybody just says I talk funny- but I dont. My mom is from hawaii but lived in Boston for so long that she says things funny and that got me saying some words with a boston accent. my dad is from michigan and most of my family still lives there so I somehow absorbed that accent too. My brother and sister are both from Texas, that really throws it off. And me, well, I was born and raised in California, so I shouldnt have an accent! When I am here people always ask me if I am from the midwest. When I am in the midwest people always ask me if I am from the east coast. When I am in the south I just dont talk cause I cant understand them anyway....
stocazzo 03-16-2008, 05:43 PM Haha! I started watching The Wire and picked up a Baltimore accent for a little bit. I would catch myself doing it and it was weird.
ORANGEE 03-16-2008, 05:45 PM How about some gift cards? I love a good coffee first thing in the morning
Welcome to the EOC
Local_Barista 03-16-2008, 05:47 PM I have to pay full price for gift cards... But i get a discount on everything else in the store. If you were a bit closer I would hook you up with some coffee- I get a free pound a week!
Tim Vance 03-16-2008, 08:41 PM Sounds like there's a trip to Timmy's in my future. If you guys get together in August I should make the road trip.

dancetiludrop 03-18-2008, 12:09 AM Local - Did you ever find out what member told you about the EOC?? We need cards with our names on them so Epple now :D
And exactly what is a midwest accent? :? I thought the midwest was the closest to speaking correctly ;-)
Local_Barista 03-18-2008, 12:17 AM i work at the starbucks on the corner of Eureka and Lead Hill in Roseville- the one next to Mikuni! And not to mention, the BEST starbucks EVER!
I have no clue who it was that introduced me to the EOC... But he drove an SOP . Blonde guy, um, thats all I remember!
There is really no way to describe a midwest accent- just listen to me talk though! But Californians have the proper accent- apparently national news anchors have to be able to talk with a California accent... Or so rumor has it!

Local_Barista 03-18-2008, 12:19 PM I was in north carolina two weeks ago visiting my boyfriend and I thought i was going to go nutz! I pretty much live at starbucks. If I am not working, I am still there. When I was at his house, I was twenty minutes (driving) from the nearest Starbucks and I had no car!!!!! So I am pretty much anti-north carolina now.

Local_Barista 03-18-2008, 11:23 PM YAY!!! I think I know who introduced me to the EOC!!! Something tells me it was marktoonz! My friend saw his E today in her apartments, sent me a picture of the EOC sticker, and then i looked him up on here, and I am pretty sure it was him!!!!
Twilightzero 03-19-2008, 09:20 AM Here's your official welcome from me after we've been talking for a week or whatever
I LOVE the load of coffee pic!! I so want to haul that in my E - I'm so coffee addicted it's not even funny. It would seriously make my life better if my E smelled like coffee (and oranges) every morning :D
Local_Barista 03-19-2008, 11:31 AM Just go to your local starbucks, get the free "Grounds for Your Garden". Cover the floor of your E in the grounds, soak it over night, the stench will NEVER go away! And then you will hate me for the advice I give! hehe! But I bet it will work!
Twilightzero 03-19-2008, 11:35 AM Oooo that's right they give away the grounds, I need to get about 1 cubic yard for mine :D Wonder if our local ones here do it...I should go ask...
Local_Barista 03-19-2008, 12:23 PM If they dont have a thing for it in the lobby tell them that your FAVORITE barista out in California said that you can get them from them- they just have to save them in the giant 50gal garbage bags. And if they say no... tell me which store it is, I will have them all fired! hehee!
Speedy Toaster Dave 03-19-2008, 01:01 PM welcome to da cult...:-D
Twilightzero 03-19-2008, 01:15 PM MWAHAHAHAHAHA I love getting people fired :D
