: 2008 Meet Agenda Update
T Mac 03-15-2008, 04:54 PM I still don't have official word from Honda on the locked-down, official agenda for Friday and Saturday of this year's meet. My contacts are very busy but as soon as I know something official, I will release it. That being said, I am going to make some info public now....
Thursday-
Travel day, mingle with friends as they arrive.
Friday notes -
Friday we will depart from the hotel late morning and drive to the East Liberty Honda plant.
You are allowed to go on your own or bring only one guest with you to the plant.
All guests must be at least 14 years old and no open toe shoes are allowed.
Lunch will be served.
We can only take a certain amount on the tour (at this point in time), so it is possible that not everyone will get a tour. The official tour list will be posted on this site/forum before the meet.
Friday night will be an open night for everyone to roam around Columbus or Marysville. It's a good chance for members to meet one another and hang out.
Saturday notes -
We will be going to another Honda facility.
It will be fun.
We will park in one central location at the facility.
From the central location, we will try to depart from there in a single line of Honda vehicles to break a Guinness record. This is not set in stone yet, but we are GOING TO TRY to pull this off. Logistics are still being worked out.
I have a few rooms rented at Dave & Buster's in Columbus for Saturday night.
We will have a buffet for food that night. In order to attend, you will be required to sign up for AND PAY FOR your buffet at the time of online registration. You cannot pay us at the event or sign up for this at the event. We will most likely draw tickets for some prizes at this event.
Sunday -
Travel day.
REGISTRATION
I am fine tuning the registration site and hope to have it online within a few days. Thanks for your patience!
Please feel free to post questions about the agenda here. Do not ask me what we will be doing on Saturday because I cannot tell you yet.
Dom.five 03-15-2008, 06:37 PM Thanks Tom.

It will mostly be first-come first-serve on registration with some exceptions. Honda is trying to be as accommodating as they can, but there is also a limited time frame to get us all through because we have to be in small groups.
Plan on going and just wait until we put up the list to be sure.
shawn.chris 03-15-2008, 08:24 PM I agree with first come, but what are the exceptions?
I'm really bummed about having to wear shoes in the plant:mad:
Justinb845 03-15-2008, 08:49 PM build a bridge and get over it

sandals are not shoes....
bh241 03-15-2008, 09:24 PM Agenda looks good, I do hope to get on the plant tour group list though. (Is that being selfish?)

Yeah I wonder if you'll have to "know someone who knows someone" to make the list....if so, I might know someone:roll:
Rocket Dog 03-15-2008, 09:42 PM A lot of people...well some people...are traveling on Friday. If I don't make the list I'll find the fun somewhere in Dublin OH 8-)

RD makes a good point. If you are coming to Ohio on Friday and won't be able to go to Honda on Friday anyway, I'd appreciate knowing that in advance. It will help us with the tour list.
Thanks!
BigAl205 03-15-2008, 10:38 PM For us noobs...could you give us a ballpark figure on how much registration will cost?

Registration will probably be...
$35 per member
$10 per guest
Members get an event shirt, lanyard, badge, goodie bag on check-in, etc.
Guests get a lanyard, badge
The buffet will be around $20-25 per person.
We have the online registration set up so that you can purchase additional event shirts at the time of registration. We probably will not order many extra to take with us for the actual event.
We will have EOC merch offered at discount prices at the meet. We'll also be raffling off some big prizes to members who attend the Saturday night event. (Guests are not in the raffle drawing).
dancetiludrop 03-16-2008, 10:02 PM I think it might also be good to discuss where some might go on Fri. night. Maybe start a thread on where people might like to go and mingle/meet in small groups. For those who know the area...suggestions would be good too.
I would hate for the guests to take spots of members getting into the tour....that being said I'll raffle my wifes spot to the highest bidder ......(j/k)
Seriously, I know my wife said that she'd be willing to give up a spot if a member didn't get in as I think they should have first access to the tour. Tom any idea on what kind of numbers they'll let thru??

One hot spot for great dining and shopping is Easton Town Centre. We went there last time and ate at the Cheesecake Factory. It's on the North end of Columbus. Another fun place is one of our dining/meet-up places from our first meet - Quaker Steak & Lube (http://www.lubewings.com/default.asp?fldLocation=columbus).
As for the number to go on the tour, I know a number now but I want to wait to see how registration flows before announcing it. Julie and I went on the tour last time, so if it comes down to people getting cut off, I'm going to offer up our spots as well. Like always, we will have a Welcome packet w/ a list of suggestions for places to go, but Columbus has a TON to offer.
Speaking of registration, it looks like it could go online as early as Monday, March 17 but could be Tuesday 3/18.
Thanks all!
E_BikeR 03-17-2008, 12:38 AM I sure hope to get into the plant after driving for 3 days to get there from Utah. It would be quite a disappointment to miss out on this tour event.
How bout those that travel the furthest get in first?:-)
Todd
valeriE 03-17-2008, 01:32 AM I am too excited. :D
xequar 03-17-2008, 07:33 AM Good info... And I will be very displeased if I don't get to go to the plant!
Since space is limited, I don't feel so bad for missing Friday afternoon now, since I'll be travelling then. I would love to tour the plant though. Oh well...
By the way T-Mac, I won't be on the tour Friday. Definitly up for going out Friday night though. I'm sure there'll be threads as we get closer.
Twilightzero 03-17-2008, 09:12 AM I darn tootin' better get on the tour! :D I'll check but my wife probably won't really want to go, I'll just drop her in a big shopping area and pick her up that evening
What's the standard rate of favors for preferential treatment around here?
BuckNakedBooda 03-17-2008, 10:36 AM A lot of people...well some people...are traveling on Friday. If I don't make the list I'll find the fun somewhere in Dublin OH 8-)
Do I hear COW TIPPIN' ?
T Mac 03-17-2008, 10:51 AM It's too early for anyone to be concerned about not getting in on the tour at this point. Honda is working with us and we'll do everything we can. Even if you don't get in on the tour, there are other activities at that plant that Friday you will not want to miss.
chozn4service 03-17-2008, 11:38 AM Thanks for the info Tom! I can now take a break from trying to answer questions on when an agenda was going to be posted and registration Q's. Its hard trying to keep these Eeople at bay.
I'm going to transfer some funds into my paypal account now and wait for for the online registration. I'm going on sabbatical until its time to head east.
Peace!
NismoGriff 03-17-2008, 11:48 PM Ha!! I've been looking for this info, thanks to TwilightZero for pointing me in the right direction!!
JPH102900 03-18-2008, 11:56 AM The wife and I definitely want to go on the tour, so we will have to jump on this registration ASAP
T Mac 03-18-2008, 06:55 PM Guys, please help me keep at least SOME of the meet threads information based.
Snuffleupagus 03-24-2008, 12:57 PM Hi T-Mac,
Can you please clarify?
If I understand your posts correctly, we can still go to the plant on Friday and participate (hopefully in whatever other activities there are even if we miss out on the tour itself. Is this correct?
Thanks,
S

Yes. There are other activities planned for the plant that are worth the trip.

Thank you for clarifying this, T-Mac. Looking forward to the trip.

T-Mac, myself and my wife are registered but we will decline the Honda plant tour on Friday. As much as I would love to take the tour, my back condition (too many years riding a hardtail bike) makes it very difficult to walk long distances (even worse on hard surfaces like concrete) and since spaces are limited we will just hang out and try to catch all the other activities at the plant and over the weekend. Will Element-D be at the Honda Plant?
T Mac 04-29-2008, 09:59 PM Sorry to say...still nothing concrete from Honda about Saturday. I'll keep you posted.
gibroni 05-06-2008, 01:02 AM Damn, I just checked the MLS schedule and the Crew are away that weekend. They're playing against David Beckham and the LA Galaxy that Sat. night but it's out in LA. I really wanted to catch a match at the stadium there. The Dave Matthews Band concert is July 29th. As the meet gets closer I'll keep an eye on the events calender there.
