i am planning on putting infinity speakers in all 6 spots, running an amp and 10" to 12" sub from the head unit.

Since i know NOTHING about car audio, i am asking if this Alphine CDA 7838 will be supportive of this set-up. i bought the cdplayer 3 years ago to put in my Honda Civic and now that my civic is totalled due to flood damage i might as well shell the thing and get what i can out. I dont even know how to get the stereo out but i will find a way if it will go nicely in my new Element when i get it. Any help is appreciated.

The 7838 is an older model and as such I have no access tot he specs. But I can tell you what to look for - a deck that has both line level outputs and a set of RCA style subwoofer pre outs for non fading subwoofer control to go to an amp. If you have an AUX jack (if you have an EX) and you want to continue to be able to use it, you'll need a deck that has an AUX hookup as well.
