Has anyone had their E long enough to have driven in snow? How does it handle?

:D

LOTS of discussion about snow, Es and winter if you do a search.

Coles Notes version: the overwhelming majority think the E is great in snow but that the OEM tires need upgrading.

I think it is great, but I came from driving a Civic. Many people here will tell you that the stock tires suck for everthing, especially snow, but I never had a problem (a couple of winters in the mountains of central PA, parking on the street on a hill and frequently getting plowed in).

Just remember that just because you have AWD doesn't mean you can drive in bad weather without caution.

Have had mine since 2003, handles the snow well as long as there isn't a foot or more on the street...........good tires make a big difference - I'm running BFG A/T's

Good day to ask that question! I have a feeling you might discover how it handles yourself this afternoon :-)

I've driven mine a fair amount in the snow with some warn OEM tires. It is significantly worse then a subaru. The front wheel to all wheel kick in lag time is annoying, but overall I was pretty satisfied.

And referencing the foot of snow on the ground, a food of Oregon wet pow was no problem for mine while cruising over mt. hood. I think our sugar CO pow pow will be a joy to ride in.

Do plan on upgrading the tires before next season, nothing like some good now tires to make ski trips safe and enjoyable.

Happy Thursday! where are you at in CO?

I'll bump the previous answers. Handles great as long as you're cautious and get to know your vehicle. Upgrade the stock tires ASAP.

Welcome and enjoy the ride :D

We 4 wheel in Montero's, so we are not like some of the other people who think they are safe in a 4WD vehicle. We live in four wheelin' country. We live only an hour from Moab, Utah and also 4 wheel around the Grand Jct. area. Colorado natives !

My E was scary as hell in the snow when I had some Hankook tires on. I switched over to Yokohama TRZ and it was alot more stable in the snow. The tires are decent in the snow but I ended up getting stuck once up in A-basin's parking lot. I ended up having spin up enough speed to shoot myself out of the parking lot and out to the road. LOL.

4WD! you're in CO for cryin' o' loud! There are people here who ski during every month of the year. I just drove in snow yesterday and it's the end of April!

Good news about the tires though... mine are bald as heck, and time to look into some new ones. But the 4WD makes a heck of a lot of difference.

I don't know which tires are on my Element, I assume their the original all weathers and it runs like a champ in my PA snow falls... Of course, this isn't CO so I'm sure it doesn't really compare.

I used to be a Jeeper and have had several 4x4 trucks and I find the Element to be far better in the snow and on ice. Not so much on the skidder trails though, stupid gas tank guard. Two more inches of ground clearance. Is that too much to ask for? One of these days I will get around to copying goosler's skid plate design.:)
