I was hoping to wait for a 09. I only owe $5,000 on this one.
Might take the ins check and pay it off and trade for a 08 im not sure:confused::confused::confused::-x

Wow, not sure which part of TX you are, but it must be around us. I posted a thread about self dent repair advice. Mr. Jet109 bought a 9 tool kit to try and fix our daughter's CR-V ( the Element was safe in the garage, thank goodness)!!!!

I soooo feel your pain. If the tools work and we get the CR-V fixed, I'll let you know. It might be worth trying!

I so sorry all this happen to you.
The one thing I notice when I visit Texas when my mom
lived in San Antonio ,there was very few shelter (car ports etc) was
to protect the cars from severe weather.

Well went to the insurance tent today to have them look at my car.
They wrote me a check for. Drum roll please .......................
$2,280 for my damage. BULL$hit.

I went to my Honda dealer just after that and they said $4,500-$4,800
UUUUUHH what a bogus deal. Now we stat the back and forth crap.
I wont mention the name of the insurance co. but it rhymes with state harm.

I told them I've paid their premium for 15 + years and i wanted my element back to just like new and whatever that cost they need to come up with it.

Come on its 8 months old and has 5,006 miles on it.

It's only hail damage, $2000 seems reasonable.

Ok its only hail damage.
But i took it to three body shops and they all wanted at least $4,000 to fix it.
Let me put it this way they found and counted 86 dents in my car.

Would you take $2,000 for 86 deep dents in your car?

at the dealership in El Paso we would get a large hail storm every couple of years, doing anywhere from 100k to 250k worth of damage to the vehicles.

mostly they used the paintless dent repair folks, who would charge like 400 a car to repair it all.

Ive taken it to two pdr guys and they both said the roof cannot be done because the paint is cracked and must be painted. They also said that the amount of metal stretching could cause the roof panel to flap at highway speeds.

The Honda dealership will use both pdr and conventional to do the repair . All the body shops want to skin the roof, remove mine and replace with a new one. Some of the dents are a 7/16 of an inch deep. The pics don't show how bad it really is. I'm hoping for the best.

The dealership (Kelly Grimsly) which is about 1/2 mile away had over $500,000 in damage. The hail storm only lasted about 5-6 mins.

Honestly dooing a roof panel seems like the better option, but with any metal replacement usually involves welding, and even the best repairs that are welded will rust a lot sooner that a factory fresh welded part. The welding process creates heat and oxidation, cleaning the rust and then painting is still not as good as a factory weld. The best bet is to go the PDR and conventional body method because you are not rewelding seams that will eventually lead to rust.

I got funny farm too!!:-x I'm trying to get my wife to agree to switch.

They're short changing you so you don't make any money off 'em.

Have the most expensive shop in town do the work. They have to pay the difference anyway.
