: Camber correction kit...?
MatT3T4 10-08-2003, 05:56 PM Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket companies currently making a camber correction kit for our cars? I lowered Ellie 2" with Sprint Springs (which ride exceptionally well, might I add), but it does throw off the rear camber a bit too much. I haven't gauged it, but I'd imagine it threw it off at least five degrees, if not more.
OR, should I just make one myself?
Kigotai 10-08-2003, 11:26 PM Uh, whats a camber?
Try "NOPIONLINE.COM".....they have a few things listed that might help you...never dealt with them if that means anything, which it shouldn't.....Let us know how it goes?????? AND PICS, PLEASE THANK YOU.....
What's a camber? An angle...., running from the top pivot piont thru /down to the bottom pivot piont, that determines the actual location of the tire lean....tire in is negative camber....tire out is positive....too much of either is not good ....
Toe is most important for tire wear, scrub
Caster adds control, straight ahead, return
Camber fine tunes all of the above
TOO much of any will be a problem
Kigotai 10-09-2003, 07:30 AM Thank-you fro explaining! I learn something new on this board everyday!
MatT3T4 10-09-2003, 10:22 AM WHOA! Nopi is charging $227.75 for Sprint Springs for the Element. I payed $139.00 shipped from Suspension Max...
I would have gone with Eibach (I carry Eibach), but they only drop 1.7" I think. I'll have to wait a little longer to see. I wonder if a kit designed for another car would work...? The Sprint Springs for the Element, if I am not mistaken, are the same ones for the RSX. I'll have to look into it, maybe an RSX camber kit will work...?
Hey Matt..got pics??...I saw a few on cardomain and they look sick...not for me thou...here in New England I want the clearance....
MatT3T4 10-09-2003, 02:42 PM Haven't taken any yet. Maybe I'll snap some on our SoCal paintballing trip...they outta be great!
Silvsteve 03-18-2004, 11:02 PM Did you ever find a good place for the camber kit?

Here's a pic of it after the drop. You can notice the camber on the rear wheels...f'ing horrible. For some reason, the inner tire tread hasn't worn down like I thought it would, but I still need to fix it anyway. I haven't gotten around to it yet...
bc is me 03-25-2004, 01:48 AM e-mail me at bclark28@cox.net. I'll help you out.
Rockford 03-25-2004, 07:20 AM Man, that looks brutal - the rears I mean. It would kill me to drive around like that knowing it's that much off. The tires WILL wear. Any "Nice ride, ya ricer!" comments yet? You're any easy target now.
Once you get it all sorted are you going to get larger wheels/tires? It would look way better if you did IMO.
MatT3T4 03-25-2004, 10:48 AM I had a moron in a C5 Corvette call me a ricer when I was in my old Civic...right before I stomped a mudhole in his ass. People can call whoever they want, whatever they want. I still don't understand the whole stigma behind it anyway.
I'll get around to wheels when I get around to it...one of these days, but I have other priorities. I should probably just leave the camber off until the tires run bare, giving me an excuse to just change the entire set-up. At least then, the old lady can't scream about it. However, in a side-by-side comparison, sans camber problems (sub-$100 fix), the lowered Element looks exponentially better than the stock height. I really didn't realize how high and how much wheel gap there was on a stock height Element, until I did the comparison. And still, even with the two-inch drop...I can ram it over speedbumps at full speed with no problems, etc...etc...etc...It handles a little better as well.
bc is me 03-25-2004, 12:10 PM If you look at a stock E, you'll notice that it has negative camber already. Honda designs their cars with more of a sport tuned suspension setup. I drove mine around lowered for a couple of months before installing camber correcting control arms and didn't see any excessive tire wear.
Dimsum19 04-15-2004, 02:51 PM i know of a place that deals with these camber issues. They bend cambers for about 100 bucks and that usually lasts a while. They deal a lot with bending cambers since a lot of lowered cars go there to get their cambers bent.
bc is me 04-26-2004, 11:15 PM I've got a brand new set of adjustable control arms for 125.00. I've got a set on mine and they work great. e-mail me at: bclark28@cox.net for info.
