Does anyone know what a replacement Key costs for the Element?
Most new keys have embedded features that drive up the price, is that the case with the Element ?

Yes, only Honda may replace your key. I have seen people say $50 to $75 USD each.

I was told by my dealer that $30 is the price.

Pet Peeve of mine:
Why if you go to 50 Honda dealers, you get 50 different prices??
That drives me crazy. Labor cost on the accessories is a good example

I think the pricing is different at every dealership because each parts department is an independent franchise and they set their own profit margin. I broke a power sideview mirror on my '96 GMC pickup and the local dealer wanted $148 for the replacement. I went online to parts.com and checked the pricing at several dealers parts departments around the country and got it for $97 plus 10.00 shipping for a total of $107. If I had purchased it locally, it would have cost me $158.36 after adding 7% tax, so I saved $51.36 by doing a little research.

Element keys cost $40 at Honda World in Westminster, CA, but only $32.88 at Costa Mesa, Honda. Apparently the key can be duplicated only on the Honda blank, and all Honda blanks have a chip in them.
One dealer said water shouldn't hurt it.
My dealer told me the keys are about $50 but then each key's chip must be programmed for the individual car (another $50). $100 for a friggen key.
