I think I'm going to try Toyo Observe http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/conven_as/observe.html this year. Last year, on my Xterra, I had the Bridgestone winter duelers and I was not overly impressed. They don't seem to stand the test of time very well, I had them for 2 1/2 winters mounted to their own rims.

I'm not in really tough winter territory, but the the tires that came with the element worked OK last year. We did 6'new snowfall like nothing was on the highway. I don't like Goodyear at all for nothing though, and have recently gone to BFGoodrich. They do well at this time of year, and have done OK for me on previous vehicles

I just bought 4 Yokohama Geolander I/T, the thread seems very good for both snow and ice. Also, the Toyo GP4 seems to be very good... Other choices are Pirelli Scorpion and Bridgestone Dueler. :)

I have heard from other Element owners that the Yokohama Geolander is very good dry/wet/snow/ice. I looked at the Bridgestone and found the tread to heavy for the amount of highway driving I do. It probably would have a lot to do with your location too. I'm in southern Ontario where snowfalls more than 2" at one time are very rare. Probably not the same story where you are. How about posting a report on the Yokohamas in 3 or 4 months?

Has any one heard good news about the Dunlops or even the Alpine 4x4?

Pictures and prices please. I want a more aggressive tire on my element. (And a 2 inch lift)

Just bought the Geolander I/T+ and mounted them on thier own rims..
I don't even feel that I have winter tires on. the sound is the same as teh OEM Goodyear HP.
All the reviews are saying that the Geolader are the best for all winter conditions..
I guess I will put it to the test soon..

Lizzurd and Tamer, what sort of costs are associated with the Alpins and Geolander (and for teh steel rims). Lizzurd, you mention you work at a parts ****er - at a Honda dealership I presume? Can I call you there?

I chose the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and they are fantastic. I got 4 of them, same size as our standard Wrangler HP's, installed on Honda steel rims (silver). I've had them for a month now and highly recommend them even though they cost about $1,400 installed. Shop around.

I was trying to use the stock All-Seasons, but I could barely make it up steep inclines when the snow was down.
I recently had Michelin Artic Alpins put on at the Honda Dealership - and I can't BELIEVE the DIFFERENCE!
It's phenomenal what tires can do! Anyway, I now conquer the winter roads, and don't dread crosswinds and slush when driving to and from work.

Just had to share my 2 cents. Previous to the Element, I drove a Mitsubishi Montero for 250K miles. Last two sets of tires were Dunlop Radial Rovers. Tread pattern was reasonably aggressive. I got 80K miles out of each set. They were fairly quiet on the highway and performed very well on snow and ice. Needless to say- I'll be buying another set when the factory rubber wears out.

So far so good getting around in the Element. But I like the durability and peace of mind the Dunlops offer.
