Right now I already have a set of Blizzaks for the winter and am looking for something to replace the stock Wranglers for the rest of the year.

I've been searching through a number of the tire threads (including the stickies), but I've found they mainly cater towards those looking for an all-year tire. I commute about 1,000km a week, so I'm looking for something that favours highway performance / road noise rather than off-road/snow... while trying to maintain a reasonable budget (below $120/tire or so).

Any suggestions?

Tried the Tire Rack wizard?

We don't have Tire Rack up here Dan...
But your right, their web site wizard should be able to suggest something...

Sorry, can't help either if you want summer only tires...
I have the Michelin LTX, and have no problems with them year round...

maybe someone in the southern states will chime in with a suggestion on a brand for you...

A true "summer only" tire is odd to find in a size to fit the E (stock, or close to stock).

A good quality highway touring tire seems like it would be best. The fact that it has some "light/ocassional snow capabilities" shouldn't be a problem.

What about the Kumho Solus KR21 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Solus+KR21&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=17TR6KR21&fromCompare1=yes&place=1) ? They are inexpensive, and since you've got winter tires anyway, it wouldn't hurt to give 'em a try.

The Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza or Firestone Destination LE or Cooper Discoverer HT are a few other tires worth taking a look at.

I've always thought that Toyo Open Country H/Ts would be a nice tire for highway driving.

I have Toyo Open Country H/T's and they are a great tire in the dry and in the wet. Nice and secure above 70mph unlike the Badyear Stranglers. Cost US
should be around a $100 a tire.

I run Michelin's Ice's as my winter tire since they have better dry and wet road perfor, mance then Blizzak's. Would the Open Country's be okay in the snow yeah but I prefer the added security of winter tires.

Thanks for the input everyone, I'm going to hit up the local shops this evening and see what's available based on the suggestions.. and then should have them mounted up by Wednesday. I'll add what I get/how I find them to the sticky thread.

Cheers.
