This little girl was living in the back yard of my office. (there were actually 3 at the beginning of the week). By Friday we were down to one, so she was rescued, and eventually taken to a home in southwest Oklahoma, to a lady who rescues wild animals... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3085/2469606280_98e467be91.jpg

I had a friend who's motherwas obsessed with raccoons...she had figures and pictures all over the house. She nursed one from a baby as well. I think it stayed outside, but never went far from the house.

Oh, and once at a drive-in in Central PA I saw a woman with a skunk on a leash.

Awwwwww sooooooooooo cute!! I always wanted a raccoon after reading Rascal, you're lucky you got to nurse and pet one! But I agree Judah looks kinda non-plussed at the face to face meeting

The neighborhood dogs killed a mama possum back when I was in high school. Everybody took a furless closed-eye baby to raise, mine was the only one to live. She lived a couple of years, she was entertaining, but not very bright. After dropping a #2, she would rip up the newspaper on the bottom of her cage, and pick it up with her tail and WIPE herself!!:???: Wack-wacka! She was actually sorta cute when she was small, I never did see her "play possum", though..and she would eat absolutely anything! Oh, and I called her "Patty"....:D

My zombie neighbors used to have a racoon. They would wander into my yard, claiming their racoon was in my yard...I told them my dogs would eat it, so if it was in my yard, it wasn't anymore!
I heard they get real vicious when theyre older..they don't have it anymore.

So cute! Good luck with the little guy. Kind of reminds me of this e-mail I received recently:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there I was . . . just relaxing in front of the TV when the kids yelled, "Hey Mom! Come see the kittens."

BINGO!!!

Have an aunt who had one. Only my uncle could go near it. They were animal crazy (three dogs, no two could be in the same room at the same time; gates all over the house). The dang coon took over their basement.

Never heard the "rest of the story". When my daughter was about a year or two old I stopped by with her. When the St. Bernard snapped at her they ....well, it was a lot of years ago...but their response was not what I expected. Haven't been back.

Anyway, raccoons are not cats or dogs.
