So i was swapping out my cd players the other day. I now have a problem. I swapped them out fine, new one worked, no problem. I plugged in my ipod interface to the new deck (cd8053) and turned the car back on, and then i got nothing. The cd player was not turning on at all. So i swapped back to the old one. Same thing. I also realized my factory keyless entry isn't working as well as the front dome light that comes on when the doors are opened (yes the switch is in the middle) So i disconnect it and pull out my DMM. So i figured out the ground was bad. No biggie. So then i also find out my 12 constant isn't seeming to work. So i ran one straight from the fuse box. Now i'm having some very peculiar problems. I have the ground, illumination, and power antenna wires hooked up to my deck. When i hook, up the switched nothing happens. When i hook up the constant, it comes on. Even with no key in the car. If either the constant or switched from the cd player is hooked up to the constant from the car my cd player turns on. Even weirder. I have my amps hooked up with the add-a-circuit on the radio fuse on my fusebox. Now, with no key in the car at all, (i have the ground, and illumination hooked up to the cd player at all times) now when i connect the constant on the cd player, the cd player turns on, as well as my amps? Still the overhead dome light and the keyless don't work. Any thoughts?

quick update: I got my cd player working. There seems to have been something weird about the wiring harness i was using. I had an extra from another deck and hooked it up and its working. But i still have a problem. My keyless entry doesn't work. It seems as though the dome light isn't working because without a key in the ignition, my car doesn't recognize when the door is open or closed. If i leave my lights on and the door open, my buzzer should buzz, and my dome light should come on. and neither do.

Its been awhile, so bump this back up hoping that someone happens to know what the heck is wrong with my car.

Try reseting the computer.... (unhook the battery for 20 mins).... also maybe you blew a fuse when changing the radio the first time....:?:

Thanks. I didn't know anything about the computer. I've checked for fuses several times, but I may check again.

I've pretty much gotten used to all of this not working now. Which scares me.

I feel like a complete idiot. Somehow, after pulling (or at least what i thought) every fuse out of both boxes twice, i went back again just now and found the blown fuse in about 3 mins. Problem solved. Thanks for the advice.
