ummm...not entirely sure if this is something that's old news. I searched for it and found nothing on it...but if it is old news, please don't think I'm cluttering up the forums.

I was looking on the Crutchfield website and found an article on a project Honda Element that they've been working on. I guess you could say it's like Crutchfield's version of the Studio E:

WAY above and beyond anything I would or could possibly do with my E.

Is there actually a 2002 model year Element or is that a misprint?

Where do you put your paddles? I don't see anywhere for wet wetsuits either. There's no rack or trailer hitch either, so where do the kayaks go? I guess I don't get it.

I saw this E at the NOPI show in Atlanta this summer along with a convertible Element...Someone had pictures posted somewhere.

I was getting concerned that I was the only one who was thinking this. What a waste - can't they do the 'cool electronics' thing without completely scrapping what it was designed to do?

What I don't get is the little video panels everywhere... especially the ones in the rear doors - what are they for, and who's going to see them? Here you've got this kick-butt audio system with enough power to fill a stadium, yet you have to be within five feet of the thing to see anything on the screens. A big plasma screen that folded down from the inside roof over the tailgate would make some sense, but those little screens are dumb.

FWIW, and YMMV. :P

Yah...I have to agree with MikeQBF and K-Dan. As cool as this is and as resourceful as the Crutchfield guys were at installing this monster audio/video system, they unfortunately reduced the utility of such a vehicle to NIL.

I would've been MUCH more impressed if they had managed to install all the same components more DISCREETLY and without negating the utility of the E's rear space.

Still, cool car. And I love the paint scheme. =P

You guys just don't get it. This wasn't designed to be a sound system for a functional utility vehicle. The vehicle is only needed to serve as a chamber for the system. The fact that it can be driven around is its utility...
