I would have upgraded the headunit to an MP3 player in a heart beat. I probably would have bought a fully integrated DVD movie player as well.
I know the Element is meant to be "Tabula Rasa" for people to mod silly, but there's no reason they shouldn't just mod it at the dealer (aside the price). Many many people would go for that I'm sure.
Dream time: a slot for me to slide in my iPod and use a navi touch screen to play with it. And a wireless internet connection for me to synch with my PC & Server from the garage.
The door chime issue - kills parties dead. THe stereo should play without the key in the ignition. My VW does this, and its quite nice.
Also, and this is HUGE, realize that teenagers aren't the only ones buying this car. Small families with 1 or 2 kids are buying them instead of a full size minivan, because we get more room than a CR-V and all the utility of a pickup, without compromising comfort and style. Making the Element as kid friendly as possible is a MUST. Heck, if you can produce a matching car seat I may even buy one. A booster too. I don't have anything in particular here, just a general pointer. The Element is already pretty kid friendly, the stain resistant interior for instance, but I'm sure there's more I'm missing that you're marketing gurus can figure out.
