Hi folks,
I am trying to find a cd changer that I can install in both our 2003 element and our 2004 Mini Cooper. My wife and I need to trade vehicles frequently, but at least one of us has horrible taste in music, so we want to switch cd magazines. I see three options:
1) use a RF modulated unit. This would involve installing an ugly remote on the dash, and have lower fidelity, but it is cheap.
2) Use "USA SPEC" brand equipment. The match for Honda stops at 2001 and I am afraid someone changed a connector. This would otherwise be my first choice, as I could use the controllers built into both head units.
3) track down converters for the controllers so that I could buy a pair of Alpine changers. I haven't been able to find a converter for the Element. I did find one for the Mini.

If anyone has any thoughts, or sees something obvious that I'm missing, let me know. Thanks up front,
Dan

Buy two music keg systems and a couple of cartridges and you'll be able to store tons of music that you both like.

Thanks for the ideas, but I already screwed that one up. I bought my wife an Archos jukebox a while ago, and it was a disaster. Now I use it with the Rockbox software, but it is not intuitive, and books on tape are still a problem. My wife loves unabridged books on tape, which frequently run 10 or 15 CD's long. I have not yet found a way to rip them into mp3's that doesn't rearrange chapters or leave everything unlabeled.
Good thing that this is a relatively minor problem, overall.

I just think it's hilarious that your wife has a mini. Mine wants one as well, and you can guess what we call our E (purchased 3 days ago) by my nic.

I too am wondering how to maximize the sound in my new toy without losing any space or usability. I have an iPod and I also have a Rockford Fosgate Mp3 playing HU I bought last year. The last thing I wanna do is disrupt the excellent design of the E's interior.

Oh the possibilities.
