: Is there an Orange Element in 2WD??
PepperJaxx 03-02-2003, 09:22 PM I am looking to purchase a new Element in a few months, I don't really need 4WD as I live in KY (not much snow) & I don't really go off road. But I must have the Sunset Orange color. Is it only available in 4WD? and why? Does anyone know if it will be available in the 2WD versions in 2004??
Also, does anyone know the best dealers to go shopping at in Western KY?? I have one pretty close, but they only have one and it isn't the color that I am looking for. I just stopped by at night, nooone there, but I fell in love with it, except for the color.
How difficult is it to order one in the color I want, and with the options that I want from a dealership? And can I order one direct from Honda?
 Thanks to all in advance.
PepperJaxx,
Well, they do make the EX in 2WD, and in Orange. :D
You may want to check with a few other dealers, see if someone will take the order. Someone should.
You can't order from Honda direct, you need to go through one of their dealerships. Sorry.

Yes, the Sunset Orange is definitely available in 2WD.
I got mine on the 23rd of January and have been
racking up the miles(3500) so far. Good Luck
If you find a good dealer he will locate one for you
angiebanana 03-02-2003, 10:34 PM Kudos on wanting the orange! That's the color I've got my eye on also. However, I was at the dealership over the weekend and he said that there's at least a 2 month wait on them! I'm not sure if he was pullin my leg or not.
So, I guess this little chickie will be waiting awhile. (or will have to settle for a different color)
From what everyone is saying, the Orange is the hardest color to come by. It seem that Honda did not think it was going to be that popular, and neither did the dealers.
If your local dealer is saying that they don't make it in Orange, they are pulling your leg. They may just want to sell what they have, or what they know they are getting soon.
burnt-O 03-03-2003, 05:06 PM When I bought my SO, everyone at the dealership told me that only 2% of SO E's will be produced. Sounds a little low to me.
I ordered my SOP on January 17th and still no sign of it. They say that hopefully i will have it in march sometime.
I figure I will give them till 17th and then start giving them a little pressure to find and trade with another dealer.
Problem is that I live on Cape Cod and there is only one dealer on the entire cape.
I've been keeping busy buying accessories over the internet and at least getting ready.

That dealer is full of BS. Remember this is 2003 and their are only
maufactured or contrived shortages of anything. Honda may have miscalculated the popularity of the SOP. But rest assured they now realize this and it wouldn't surprise me if they discontinued every other color in the line and made SOP the only color available. Or possibly in 04 came introduced a Classic Commemerative limited Edition SOP.
Sunset Orange Pearl is worth the wait! It is more burnt than fireball, and it looks better than in the brochures.
I got mine last week after waiting only a month. They told me 2 months when I got on the list, so don't sell out for another color if SOP is what you want.
Simon 03-03-2003, 10:40 PM I would think Honda wouldn't mind boosting production of the SOP.
The demand is there.
bqbauer 03-05-2003, 01:31 AM Think of this 4WD as an All Wheel Drive of sorts. I'm a big proponnent of all wheel drive or full time 4WD vehicles. It's in the handling & safety. It will be better in rain, dirt roads, and any situation where your front tires might encouter some slippage.
If only Subaru made a vehicle like this! Now there's a company than knows AWD. But I digress.
If 4WD is the only thing holding you back, remember this is a front wheel drive vehicle until the automatic "4WD" kicks in because it is needed.
Just a thought.

E-lated,
Now you're talking. Everything will come down to $$$
M Ornett 03-05-2003, 12:14 PM I was told this about the Shoreline Mist as well - sorry, but they wanted to sell me a SOP instead and I turned them down. I'm not a Longhorn!! That's a University of Houston grad for those who don't know.
SPACE E 03-05-2003, 12:23 PM Their colors are burnt orange and white
The University of Houston is a Cougar their colors are red and white. Go Coogs! :D
Picked up my SO EX4WD yesterday...it had been on the lot for 3 weeks...made me a deal I couldn't refuse, even though I wasn't really looking to buy until next year! Dealer has now sold 2 and has 5 sitting on the lot (all DX's, both 2 and 4 WD) Silver and Blue.
Great site, I'll now join you often! :D
angiebanana 03-05-2003, 09:49 PM Well, after reading thru all the posts on this thread, I've decided dealers are just poo heads! (not all, but, most)
I mean, why fib people into buying what you've got on the lot...why not please the customer?!
At my very first job, my manager pounded ONE major thing into my head and that was "the customer is always right". I'm a hairstylist and basically, I pretty much live by that. Why cant they??
And, believe me, I WILL get an orange E! Even if I have to wait 4 months! *lol*
Angie :D

Sorry, I meant Texas not Houston
:) Been reading abouth Elements since August, bought my SOP E 5 speed off the showroom floor (without having to order it) at $500 off MSRP. My wife wanted a Shoreline Mist, but as a University of Texas fan, I had to buy the SOP (not University of Houston M Ornett). After two weeks and 800 miles, we are very happy the the vehicle.

M Ornett 03-08-2003, 07:39 AM I know, I know, I apologized once - sorry it was just a brain glitch!!
