: Do sub enclosures slide around?

I'm going to do a modest sub enclosure in the trunk. What steps do I need to take to keep it from sliding around and bashing the crap out of the interior? Are two-dollar Radio Shack speaker feet good enough?

If carpeted, they will slide around for sure. I use screw-in rubber feet that stop mine from sliding but not from bouncing up and down when I take speed bumps too fast and such. I am reluctant to bolt it down permanantly for obvious ease of use removal reasons but I've often thought that a good idea would be to anchor a couple of nylon straps to the spare tire then cut a couple of slots in the cargo floor. This way one could thread the straps up through the slots and attach dog collar type male-female snap connectors to close and cinch down the box, but be able to remove it easily.

I do a lot of diving in the summer so this configuration could have the added benefit of keeping my tanks from sliding around since I take the sub out when I go on scuba trips anyway.

It might also be a good place to mount that Nitrous bottle I've always wanted too.

You can buy the rubber feet here: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=15390277&St=3666&St2=53437135&St3=-52824239&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=5838&DID=7

I used industrial strenth velcro. Then again my sub is between the front and back seats, in the middle like a center console.

Totally off subject but...
eMass I just got turned onto diving. I spent this past weekend getting my PADI Open Water Dive Certification. It ranks as one of the coolest things I have ever done. Now if I can just come up with enough cash to purchase all of my equipment on a students income. I have a trip planned over christmas to dive in Florida with the Manatees. I cant wait.

[yep, this thread is definately drifting but...]

I'm not sure where you're from but if you're from up north like I am, you'll find southern water diving SO much better!

The visibility is excellent, the water is so warm you won't need a wetsuit, and best of all the underwater life has actual COLOR!

The downside is that ever since I dove the carribean and a few other beautiful spots I became spoiled. I have since lost a lot of interest in diving up here except when the water warms up enough to do a dive off the north shore for lobster.

Cheers!
