Pics can be seen there. Basically i was drivin the same trails that some wranglers were doing. When i popped up this massive hill everyone about dang pooped there pants when they saw the little element come over the top of the hill. Just goes to show you, that a little box has some off road potential.

Most photos that attempt to show the steepness of the road are disappointing. One exception that I came across the other day was of a switchback on the Black Bear Pass in SW Colorado. The photographer was driving an old series Landrover called Basil.

The next two postcards (8 and 9) show Basil with a wheel off the ground, and that is with considerably greater articulation than an Element. Keith's photos also give an idea of what it looks like to drive with a spare tire on the hood.

While browsing some more of Keith and Basil's postcards, I found a LR 110 (that's the long wheelbase Series wagon), with some real rooftop outfitting.

I would love to go out west on one of these 4 wheeling expeditions. I wonder if they rent these vehicles out to people. Better than tearing up your own. The Element probably wouldn't make it out of their sand parking lot.

In various trail and trip descriptions I have seen mention of rental Jeeps, both in the Moab UT area and SW Colorado (Durango and north). I remember one trail being described as rough enough that it was prohibited in rental contracts. I don't recall if driving schools, such as Bill Burke's, provide rentals or not. http://www.bb4wa.com/
