: Skylight Storage?

Any ideas on how to travel with the Skylight removed and in its protective bag?

The Manual says to clip the Skylight in its bag onto the 4 tie downs but then to NOT place anything on top of it. I will always have something in the back area, dog crate, bikes, etc. so I am hoping that there is a way to protect the glass Skylight while it is stored AND still carry something in the back cargo area.

I was thinking about some sort of foam layers in the storage bag with the glass sandwiched between them.

Any thoughts or successful solutions?

It's too bad Honda didn't design it so that it could safely be stored on top of the spare tire under the cover.

I like to travel with the dog in the back but like the sunroof out so me and him can enjoy the wind. I still need to keep the sunroof just incase it rains. I decided, being a rock climber we clip everything to something, that I should try to clip the bag off to the side someway. It is easy just clip in to the 2 cargo clips at the floor and then clip one top clip to the child seat harness clip to the rear, the other clip you just clip into the carabiner that holds the seat up or if the seats are out just leave the carabiner clipped to the "OH MY GOD" handel. This keeps the sunroof up and out of the way of danger. Now remember, if you stack some stuff up that may fall into the sunroof glass you could break it but other than that you are good to go. If you need pictures let me know :)

Way cool idea. Thanks a lot, I would love pics as well, when you get around to it. This is why I love this forum. Simple easy answers. Thanks again

I was wondering if anyone has devised a solution for camping with the sunroof open? I am going camping in a couple of weekends and will sleep in the E. If I keep the sunroof open, my wife is afraid that a squirrel will fall through the open roof, or a bird will poop on us. Of course, rain is a possibility too. Is there some type of screen, like is on tent windows, for the sunroof opening???? 8)

there is a screen avaialble from honda - DON'T BUY IT !!!

if you did buy it - DON'T LET HONDA INSTALL AS PER INSTRUCTIONS !!!

whn installed as per instructions, it looks like a saggy diaper !!!

I am going to make a screen myself, put it on a frame and velcro it to the roof somehow so it does not sag

hambone,

The screen does not look bad.

I have mine put in, and leave it up all the time.

It works great as a shade, but would not keep out bugs.

unfortunately i am one of those people who ordered the shade screen. i'm sorry but it does look like a soggy diaper....( thankfully this is where it ends, looks but no smells :o) ).

the snap placement measurement is approx 20 3/4" and when attached the sliding snap holders in the screen do not allow for tensioning...

i have seen the other posting regarding the screen someone made and it looks much better and seems to be a better solution for keeping out the critters and insects...

don't get me wrong...it does function well as a shading device...it is just that i was lead to believe that it was a proper screen which would double as a insect barrier...

skylight, that is...............The choice was between the manual trans and the skylight and the trans won. Hands down.
Nevertheless, I am considering an aftermarket install . Any thoughts regarding placement, size, etc that you skylight owners think would be better than the factory one.??
Thanks for all input.

To clarify the choice was between the 2WD and the Sunroof. Auto or stick is available in 2WD/no sunroof or 4WD with sunroof. I am sure there are or soon will be aftermarket sunroofs for the E but I am not sure you can get one for the front area of the roof due to the extra frame design for the B pillars.

Enjoy!
