I see you go thru the sunroof, is there a ladder? I am short and a bit on the heavy side so I was wondering if that would be a problem?

No ladder, but you could probably put a little folding stepstool down there ... getting down could be an issue too if you're pretty short. Takes a little bit of arm OOMPH to get up.

I dunno ... the ecamper is pretty sweet! A two-step ladder with tall handle thing is only about $20 ...

There are a couple pictures in the Southern California section from the meet on Saturday - maybe look at those and see if it helps?

as long as you stand up and can sit on the roof you should have no problem :)

Hi Mels,

I just picked up my ecamper 12 days ago and we camped in it almost every night during that period. I admit I'm not short but my gimpy wrist means I do have some difficulty supporting my weight on it. Anticipating this would make it hard for me to get into the camper we packed our milk crate (full of camp stuff) and for the whole trip I'd stand on two corners of it and hoist myself into the back corner of the camper. Same for the way down.

We only ever removed half of the "hatch" cover the whole trip but when I went up to clean the sand out today I had it fully opened and didn't need the crate at all!

I'd recommend removing your sunroof and playing around to see what works for you.

How hard is it for you to push the top up given your wrist? I have very little upper body strength and am concerned that I can't push it up - I'm on the East coast, so can't try it out.

Hi Lyn, I don't find raising the top to be difficult at all - far easier than with the VW vans I looked at (where I did have to call in help most of the time). From the "hatch", I just push up on the roof and it only needs help for a short while. After that the springs kick in and it opens itself. I suspect this also makes it easier for the shorter folk. For closing the lid, you stand on the tail gate and pull the top down. That's the most challenging part for me and even it is pretty easy.

I should have mentioned that Kbrinner's video at http://www.thedarienplan.com/2008/09/video-of-ecamper-in-action.html shows the closing process really well.
