Hello everyone, great sight. Has anyone got experience with or an opinion of Audiobahn speakers, thinking of getting model AN6000? They have a shallow install depth but look kind of fat for the stock hole. Any input welcome.
Thanx

This exact Q has been asked in this forum a couple of times - if you do a search on "audiobahn" you'll find what you're looking for.

I have a pair of FOCAL 165k 6.5". The ? I have is how hard is it to cut the hole bigger and install these, will I have to make new screw holes? Also how do I replace the tweeters? How do I get the covers off? Any help with this would be great

I can't speak to the specific installation of the Focals but you can ask eMass and others who have installed them. As to enlarging the existing hole, it isn't very hard.

Before you cut anything I would advise you to make a template so that you can see exactly where you need to cut and screw. I used a rotary tool and cut out the entire plastic basket. I smoothed out the new hole with the sanding bit and marked the new screw holes with an awl. Just used your screw to make the new holes since the plastic is fairly soft. Make sure your screws are not too long and won't hit the metal behind it.

Finally if you do need to cut out the entire basket, you will notice you don't any protection from the window above. So I used a XTC foam baffle to protect my new speakers.

The trick is to use metal spring clips that slide on to the plastic and act as a metal guide hole into the plastic material for the screw. This ensures a nice secure mounting point.

If you look at the pictures of my setup you'll see that I have 4 of these on each speaker hole in the front doors.

If you do a search, I think I even found a web supplier of these clips - crutchfield also might sell them if you ask.

Hope this helps!

emass,
I got my FOCAL 165k's I was told to rerun the speaker wires incase there was a stock cross-over. I was wondering if you did the same? What ohm's do these speakers run at and would a 135w amp be enough for them?????

Yes, if you're using a seperate amp you should run new wiring to the speakers. I did the same. And yes, a 135 w amp should be enough.
