Hey guys, I'm just curious if anyone had the same luck as me with my Element. I purchased it at 7:30 PM on a Tuesday night. Wednesday I was driving in to work at 7:00 AM and someone lost control of their car on the interstate and took out the front of my E. 11 1/2 hours and my car is injured! Just wondering if anyone else ran into the same crappy luck.

The only thing that happened to me, and is still happening is this. Every time I drive past the "rims place" my car almost mysteriously swerves into the driveway, but a quick conk on the head from my wife cures the problem. They shouldn't put those 18" in the window, it's just not fair :(

Hey CincinnatiE,

Sorry about your luck but hope to see you on the road around Cincy soon! Where'd you buy your E? I bought mine at Superior Honda and was very pleased with the way they did business. If your looking for a good body shop, try Mt. Healthy Auto Body at 521-8600. I've used them in the past and they do great work.

Best of luck.

Thanks.....I actually have my car all fixed now. Luckily it only took a few days for the repair, which was performed at Superior Collision Center. I wanted to take it back to where I bought the car (Honda East), however, they were not a 'preferred' service place for Progressive. Oh well, it was still a Honda place.

Hmmm, Sunset Orange.....I don't think I have seen that one on the streets of Cincy. I have only seen a green one up in Hyde Park, and another E parked at a pet store or dentist up my way in mason.

Am I so late posting on here or not! I curb mine. Banged up the aftermarket rim. But heck, I was to busy staring at someone while they were staring at me. "focus, the road, the road"

Two large rock hits on the windshield within the first 700 miles. Got them both fixed by the divot repair guy. Here in New Mexico flying rocks are around more than rain.

Funny you should mention it...I bought my green E on the evening of Dec. 21st. On Christmas Eve Day, pulling into my work parking lot, someone drove right into me! At first look, it was only my back driver's side wheel. When they put it up at the dealership, everything underneath was bent. They say it'll be replaced and good as new by hopefully this Thursday! Merry Christmas, huh?

Not having had a payment in twenty years....
As I rode away from the dealer, had a terrible pain in the butt and
couldn't find my wallet......

2 days after I got my Element I smelled a nasty, sweet smell. I had smelled it before, but I thought it was the candy factory down the street. I still smelled it 10 minutes later, then I saw the temperture gauge... RED LINE! Pulled over, popped the hood, the top cooling hose had popped off. Seems the hose clamp had never been tightened. Had a nice walk to the parts store for coolant, a clamp and a screwdriver (no tools in the car at that time!). On my way in an hour (about 2 miles to the store) with just a few cuts and burns.

Took it in to have the system flushed and Honda antifreeze put in, no charge. The service manager gave me some crap when I wanted it noted that the clamp had never been closed, but he finally gave in.

Heh! That happened to me one time I was driving home from pittsburgh in my old Taurus. Smelled something odd. Got stronger...but instead of noticing the temperature gauge first, I looked back and saw a big white cloud. Whuh? Then I noticed the temperature and pulled over at a thankfully close-by emergency pull off. As I slowed down and stopped, I and my car were suddenly enclosed in an opaque white cloud.

I popped the hood, jumped out of the car, opened the hood and, when I finally could see, found a big hole in a coolant hose.

Lots of fun. :)

In honor of the plastic panels that I am afraid of messing up, on my first fillup the nozzle leaked in a weird place and got gas on the panel. This was about 24 hours into my ownership.
