my 4wd ex is 8 months old with only 600 miles..went out yesterday
and got in car..wouldnt start..had no lights, nothing and could not
move the automatic gear shift from park, just wouldnt move.
had gone out two days ago.
i left no lights on
i dont even keep the indoor and tail lift lites on the one position..
it makes me nervous..
the aaa guy came and used my key in the safety mechanism slot near gear shift to release it(i had been trying to do that with screw driver)
he charged it up and i ran it 15 minutes and then did some errands
when he show me the battery its got a view hole on it that says
its supposed to be green when fully charged.
even after driving to errands i went to check the battery and i dont see green..
(seeing red so to speak!!!)
anybody else with battery problems????

A few errands? Best bet with a little battery like this is pick up a slow charger so your alternator doesnt try and cram as much as it can as quickly as it can into your battery. I would slow charge it for 6-12 hours and you should be good. Tons of people in this group can give you the amount to charge etc.
Chargeslow get the battery back, charge fast short battery life here on out.

Was that a typo in your post, or have you really driven it only 600 miles in 8 months?

I'm not a mechanic, but I'd suggest the trickle charger, to fully charge it between runs or to top it off once a month. You're not using it enough for the alternator to keep it charged on its own.

Why buy a NEW car if you only put 1,100 miles a year ???

I would much rather buy a good used car and not spend 22K

HappyCamper is right on the money.

You obviously don't drive it that much. What happens is the starting process puts a huge drain on your battery, or any battery for that matter. The car needs to run for roughly 30 minutes or longer for the alternator to replace what was lost in starting. If you make a quick trip to a nearby store, shut it down and restart for a quick drive back, you are essentially taking more out of the battery than the alternator can put back in. Over time...you get a dead battery.

In your case, you should hook the battery up to a charger once a month to maintain it. I have to do the same thing to my wife's car, she drives 3 miles each way to work. She drains the battery faster than the alternator can replace it driving it like this.
