: Big Al's Ultimate Bachelor Pad
BigAl205 08-25-2008, 02:09 PM People have been hounding me to post picks of my new home...so here's the info. It's 1350 square feet sitting on a pretty level .7 acre lot. It's one level with a huge crawlspace, but no garage (I have plenty of space to build one later). The house has 3 BR, 2 baths, eat-in kitchen and a laundry room. It also has an awesome country porch to rock and drink some iced tea. The previous owners moved to Kentucky and it sat vacant for several months and the bushes are overgrown. I'm in the process of trying to get the yards back into shape...ignore the bushes...my hedge clippers bit the dust halfway through.
Here's a few outdoor pics...
BigAl205 08-25-2008, 02:14 PM They're building a new gated community behind me, so that should help my property value. I'm also getting a free privacy fence when they build behind me.
BigAl205 08-25-2008, 02:20 PM Here's the kitchen and elegant dining area:rolleyes:
...and the ultimate bachelor TV. A 106" monitor is the only way to surf :)
gibroni 08-25-2008, 02:21 PM Hey Al, nice digs! Is that barrel in the backyard a grill? Why don't you have a basement? I know in Californina they don't have basements because of groundwater.
Brawsie 08-25-2008, 02:22 PM Nice pad Al!
I really dig the mullet bushes.
BigAl205 08-25-2008, 02:27 PM The La-Z-Boys with projector under the coffee table; master bedroom; master bath with mine-and-mine sinks:D;walk-in closet; laundry

The standing barrel is an old burn-barrel that the previous owner used to incinerate paper, leaves and tree limbs...I'll eventually get rid of it. Houses around here vary from plain slab foundation to full walk-out basements, just depending on the lay of the land and the builder's ideas.
Brawsie and Orangee...thanks and bite me..at the same time

Junebug 08-25-2008, 07:05 PM Good job Al! Thanks for all the pics. There was a time (okay, several months) where it just seemed like it would never happen, and now look at you! Love the EOC swag around the house. :)

Oh Jojo, thanks for the compliments! You are more than welcome (we will not even ask Al)!!!
Hey maybe he'll be at work, and we can cook, eat at the elegant table, burn some trash in the burn barrel, sit out back, then lounge in the LR and play some Wii games on the widescreen!:)
BigAl205 08-26-2008, 12:39 PM I've already started modding.:) The old country handles just weren't my style so I found a six-pack of contemporary handles at Target for $9. I'm thinking about painting the cabinets to give it an updated feel but I can't decide what color (maybe NBP ). The faux stone linoleum wil eventually have to go, also.

Jea, somebody as sweet as you cooking something sweet? That much sweetness would probably cause my head to implode. I might need Hojo here just to balance out the atmosphere

Already modding the house huh? Once that stuff starts you'll spend all yo money.
BigAl205 08-26-2008, 02:04 PM Agreed on the money thing....houses are a lot more mod-able than Elements.

At least you won't have to worry about fixing the chair rocking, or the dash creak. And don't let me hear you gripin about the milage.
bh241 08-26-2008, 09:55 PM BigAl - wow, it looks great. I do like the projection screen, now when you get old you won't need the glasses!
I do see that you are in desperate need of one other mod for the home, actually I think it would classify more as an accessory rather than a mod....
Yea, I think this one would fit the bill nicely.
Sam - he needs a home and you got a brand spankin' new one...
