The new Element looks awesome. When I first saw a picture of it on Yahoo! News, I couldn't believe how cool it looks. It reminds me of my old Datsun Stationwagon I had in High School.

Man, that was one versatile car! One night when I had to pick my little sister up at the school after a roadtrip for her basketball team, the bus ended up being two hours late and I was able to crash in the back of my wagon with a sleeping bag until her team arrived. Not only that, but back in the days after all the skateparks closed, me and my buddies could all squeeze into the wagon for a roadtrip to an abandoned pool that someone had found hidden in the forest east of Austin to skate in.

When I saw all the room that the Element had with the back seats folded up, it really took me back. I almost blew my milk through my nose (had I been drinking milk). I couldn't believe it! Now here's a vehicle that can help me recapture my old glory days. I might even take up surfing again!!!

Now, I haven't even taken one for a test drive, but I'm pumped about the looks of it! Here's the big question (and I'm sorry it took me this long to get to the big question, but....), can I fit in it with enough headroom so as not to loose any more hair from friction against the headliner? I'm 6'1'' and have funky proportions (long torso, short legs) that cause me to sit a little taller in the saddle.

I believe so. Im 6'0 and there is a bunch of headroom. Also, there was someone else on the boards that said they were 6'5". The only problem i see is seeing out the front if you're tall, but you have the same problem in any vehicle i suppose.

I am 5'11" and I couldn't believe how much fricken head room there was. It was incredible, I can't guarantee anything, but I can't see there being any problem for anyone under 6'3" :!:

I'm 6'1" as well and have absolutely no problems at all fitting in my Element. I think you'd have to be 6'6 at least before things got tight. I don't even notice any legroom difficulties, as some people have - and I've got long ones. All in all, it feels incredibly spacious in there.

Rockin' Good News!!! :D :!: :D

I can't wait to test drive one. After that, the only problem is selling my wife on the Sunset Orange Pearl! :?

My buddy is 6'1" and he drove mine, he said he felt like a little kid there was so much head room! Trust me, you will fit and you will love it!! 8)

One family member is 6'4" with your proportions (long torso - short legs) and he fits just fine. I don't even have to do my usual spraying of static guard tio keep his hair from clinging to the ceiling. Plus he said there was even plenty of room in the rear seats for him.

I'm 6'2", long torso like you, and I was pleased to find it had more room than my late beloved 4WD 85 Civic. In a word, lots.

I'd been looking at the Vibe as well until I got in one... no headroom at all. That swung me to the Element. Gonna buy a Green 4WD EX, I think.

I am 6'1 and i have PLENTY of room. BUT i do have one complaint. That i have to have the Steering Column Adjusted all the way up and the Seat lowered all the way down. Even then i occasionally...if sitting straight up...cannot see the top of the speedometer. Basically i can't see 45 to 65 very well. I mean it is a small thing and most of the time i can see it but i thought you should know. I still love my element though.

I could use 1 - 2 more inches of leg room but the headroom is wonderful and the rear seat leg room is like being in an old fashioned NY cab! The long legged people who have had the pleasure of riding in my new E have been pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the rear seats and the amount of leg room

My hubby is 6'4 and has headroom to spare. The legroom is fairly good for him as well.

:? I'm 6-1 also and have plenty of headroom. I have also noticed that with the seat back and the wheel all the way up, the top of the speedo is cut off. Very minor issue though. I am not happy with the armrest/cupholder situation. Could have been done better (and probably will be solved on future models.

This thread can now end. I test drove an Element last night and I'm spent. All this research on vehicles and worry whether there is enough headroom was for naught. When I sat down in the front seat, I thought I was climbing into the cab of an 18-wheeler. Okay, that may be a stretch. But I was pleasantly surprised that the footbox was wide enough for me to get in and out without any trouble. So it passed the jumpin' in test. Then, my 6-year old son was so excited about the back seats folding up that he wanted me to buy it right then and there. Then came the bike test. Because I have a timetrial/triatholn bike and the handlebars are so long (dropdown bars), it's hard to get it into most vehicles without completely breaking it down. Well, the Element passed with flying colors (but only if you load the bike in rear wheel first). You also have to remove the front wheel. This is a significant improvement from the trunk of my '92 Camry. The only thing I need now is...........money to buy it. :D That'll come later this year. I'm going to wait until the new models come out in late September and buy a '03 model that the dealer will have to get rid of (at a much cheaper price) in order to make room for the '04 models.

Hello,
I am six feet tall but when I signed up for the air force, they measured my sitting height (in case I wanted to be a fighter pilot) and I was surprised to find out I had the sitting height of someone 6'4". I have plenty of room in the Element, heck, I could wear a cowboy hat if I wanted. Really, an amazing amount of room in this little truck. Go get one!

Same thing here, John. All of my height is in my upper body whereas my brother got the long legs - we're a family of mutants I think.

I had plenty of problems when car shopping with rubbing up against the headliner until I tried the Element. My E has good hip and shoulder room as well even though I'm a big guy. My only small complaint is that my big ol' clod-hopper feets fit much better on the drivers side than they do on the passenger, but my wife, Dede, wants to share the driving priveledges.

The interior spaciousness blows everyone away. And the amount of legroom in the back seat bests that found in vehicles twice the price and as much as a third larger. This li'l truckster is deceptively roomy! Amazing! Bravo!

Okay, I posted a thread on the Ask the Dealer section regarding what I'm about to ask. Based on all the responses from guys (and possibly gals) who are taller than 6', what are your takes on the total cargo limit (passengers included) of 675 lbs.? Does anyone think that is rediculously low? Think about it, if you have 4 adults in your vehicle, they each have to weigh an average of 168 lbs. or less. That's just driver and passengers and not extra gear! Like most guys my size, I exceeded 168 lbs. back in high school. What is the rationale for having such a low limit? :!: :?

I'm 6'3" and actually fit in the E very comfortably. One of my decision points in selecting a new vehicle was the head/leg room available - in both cases, I found the E to be more spacious than many competiving vehicles (strange to me that some huge SUVs aren't exactly designed to be huge inside).

Give it test drive and see what you think. I was pleasantly surprised enough that it helped to sell me on the vehicle. (On the other hand, my 5'2" significant other looks a little tiny in the passenger seat, so she's not as enamored with the size....)

The comments here are a hoot, i love this one I have quoted above.. that is soo funny.. i am visualizing spraying to reduce the static cling.. but i also know the situation, i am not tall.. i am 5'5" ish.. and I have been in cars that I had the static hair cling that is the worst feeling, ew.. nasty!

I love the space in the element, I am a tad claustrophobic, this vehicle more than takes care of that issue, soooo mmmmuuuucccchhhh roooommmm!! echo echo echo.. anyhow I love it. I don;t hit my head when I get in and out, such a nice plus.. and just well I LOVE IT!
