Sorry if this has been discussed before, but the search function is kind of screwy.

Anyways I was reading the E owner's manual and read that if you upshift from 1 to 2 to drive you don't have to press the button. In the same section, it said that if you keep it on 1, the engine only stays in first gear and the same deal happens for 2nd.

I wanted to run the E for auto-x (assuming they haven't excluded it) for giggles and just wondered if I can just run in 1st or 2nd throughout a course. I threw my E around a little bit today and with low profile tires I think the E will handle pretty well.

I have about 200 miles on my E so I don't want to redline it yet. But what is the top speed for 1st gear and for 2nd gear with the automatic?

Nobody has run their E to the redline?

I used the calculators and I got this for the Auto transmission:

1st: 45.2 MPH
2nd: 79.1 MPH
3rd: 112.3 MPH
4th: 166 MPH

Hell if I know if the above is correct. :D

4-Speed Automatic Transmission Gear Ratios: 1st: 2.684, 2nd: 1.535, 3rd: 1.081, 4th: 0.733, Reverse: 2.000, Final Drive: 4.438

I'm at 350 mi right now. I'm gonna verify (at least first gear) to see if the above is correct when I get to 1000 mi.
