I've had my E since Juy, and for the past 2 months I've noticed that when I first start my E up and start driving the first few times I would touch on the brakes I would hear a semi-loud clicking noise. Anyone have any Ideas???

Same here, mentioned on a recent thread. There are actually 3 clicks:

A soft click under the steering wheel near the brake pedal when the relay engages early in the pedal travel, that both unlocks the automatic transmission from park and turns on the brake lights.

An optional click at the auto transmission shifter, when in park, that is the lock disengaging at the same time as above.

A loud click/clatter, a little further down the travel of the brake pedal. Not sure what this is.

Yeah I figured the first ones, I'm just concerned with the loud click/clatter..

do a search for brake clicking on this and the "other" boards. You'll find a plethora of threads about it....

Well thats good to hear, I still want to know why theres the clicking in the brakes. Or to at least know what it is.

I get that same "crunching soda can" noise when I first touch the brakes before driving off. Kapt Nemo isn't alone.

I did a search (no, honest, I did!) to no avail.

Due for service in 1,000 miles so I'll post if I get info on it!

Alright folks, I was browsing another Element site, and found this bit of info. It may apply to our problem:

...Acutally, they applied the CRV TSB O3-033 for Front Brakes AND rear brakes. My SA knew about the problem and instantlly knew what to do with it. My brakes don't make any more clunking noise at all!!!

the new clips snug the calipers much tighter.

Part numbers are:

43244-S9A-003 CRV CLIP (2 for front)
45237-S9A-A01 CLIP, PAD (2 for rear)

Is TSB O3-033 applied only for CRV ?Or Element also?
Is Element have own TSB number in order to fix clicking noise(replace clips on front brakes)???
Is dealer willing to fix this problems per CRV TSB?
Do you have any expereience?

Ok I called the local dealership and was told that they could change the clips but that within another 2000 miles they woud be clicking again. The reason we get a clicking noise is because the breaks are a "floating" type and the clips loosten up a little after roughly 2000 miles. So even if you get the new clips they will loosten up again...

Actually, I'm one of the few fortunate ones that got their Es fixed with the CRV TSB. Since they share the exact braking components, it wouldn't be unusal to hear the clicking noise on BOTH vehichles.

The clicking noise only happens when you shift from the forward to backward motion. I used to hear it everyday since I back out of a garage. The new updated CRV clips snug the brake pads to the calipers better so there is not forward and backward motion of the pads to the calipers.

Talk to your dealership and work to solve the problem. I didn't even show them the CRV TSB! My SA knew right away what I was talking about and applied the CRV TSB on my E. Not just for the front brakes but for the back ones as well!

My brakes haven't made a noise for a long long time ever since the updated parts.

The part number listed above are the part number on my work order form (all under warranty).

I recently had the CR-V brake clips installed and I drive around now with much more satisfaction with my vehicle. The parts were ridiculously cheap and I had them replaced during my 16K or 10K for our U.S. friends, checkup so my bit was easy. The difference is night and day...I highly recommend it.

The clips actually are not 'tighter' as one post noted, they have an extra protrusion that prevents them from moving forward and backwards creating the 'click' when you go from F to R. I was wondering if H would cover them on my E under the CRV recall, am going to print out all of these and bring to my dealer so he does not have to do any head scratching to figure them out!
