: 2007 SC stereo install
snowdreams1080 09-22-2008, 11:08 AM Over the weekend I finally started the install. Here's whats going in.
Alpine-CDA 9883
IPOD Cable
PAC SWIALP (steering wheel controls)
Alpine PDX 4.100 (currently under drivers seat)
JL 250/1 (currently under passengers seat)
Eclipse SC8355 3 way components front
Eclipse SC8255 2 way components rear
JL 6w3v2 in stock location.
I pulled the seats and console and got the JL sub in place and the two amps in a wired up.
Ran speaker wire into the door, mounted the components in teh a-pillar and then got tired and gave it a rest. have been taking pictures as I go along. Hopefully tonight the 5.25's will go in easily then I can install the head unit and be done. I will post the pics when all is said and done. Just felt like sharing what was done so far.
The reason for the system choice is that I had most of it from a previous install. downsizing my 12w3 to the 6w3 worries me but I don't want to give up the cargo area. Had to trade my jl e4300 for the alpine pdx. Really couldn't see how to cleanly get the jl amp under the front seat. just a little too long to clear the seat rails and have access to the wires. Had purchased the elcipse speakers for my bmw but it died before getting them in. Hopefully they will sound nice. Have seen mixed reviews.
gibroni 09-22-2008, 11:25 AM Great pics! I can't wait to see it when you're finished!
jpeaslee 09-22-2008, 03:00 PM Did you seal the factory box? Even if you leave it ported, i strongly suggest sealing up the seams where the two halves of the box come together.

tribalelement 09-23-2008, 09:27 PM Wow very clean job, thanks for the pics :)
snowdreams1080 09-24-2008, 06:39 AM Not as clean as I would like. I definately have a bit of DC high pitch whine entering into the system where the 4 channel patch cord passes too close to the power wire. When I laid it out it was a concern but was hoping it wouldn't be a problem. Considering using the PAC SNI-1 to try and be lazy not to have to pull the center console again to reroute wires. Anyone have experience with these?
Also the PAC SWI ALP did not work. the instructions seemed to say might need a resistor, might not so went with out one. Steering wheel controls don't work. Anyone with insight please chime in.
As for the 6w3. love it. definately not a 12w3 but it hits clean if not super loud but that was what I wanted. Opted for not sealing the box as I did a lot of research on the 6w3 and it seemed the consensus was infinite baffel helped it perform better than sealed. so kept the port figuring that I could go back in and seal later if I didn't like the way it sounded. But I am happy. amp is a 30% gain and I am keeping the sub output on the HU around 5-10 and its nice clean bass.
snowdreams1080 09-24-2008, 07:55 AM ordered some stinger ground loop isolators. Will see if they work. Otherwise this weekend I will be doing a re routing of some wires. where to I am not sure.
SCGUY 09-28-2008, 03:09 PM Did you have to do a lot of modifications to the factory sub box for the JL to fit?
box-E 09-28-2008, 03:22 PM I have the PAC hooked up to my Pioneer AVIC-D3 and I needed the resistor. Drew:)

No mods except cut the factory harness out to run the wire out at that point and drill the pattern for the screws as the holes don't line up with the stock sub. It just fit. Was scared there wouldn't be enough mounting depth but there was.
Bought some resisitors. a 3900 and a 5600. both are options in the directions. anyone remebmer which one they used??

I used the PAC with my Pioneer DEH-880prs, I recall the instructions mentioning something about a resistor, I opted to go without it and it works fine. Are you sure you are coding it correctly?

Hey I am trying to put the same head unit in my SC, but I cannot find a dash mounting kit that will fit in the space of the stock head unit. Would you mind letting me know where you got that one or where I can find one like it? Thanks

If you get the trim bezel from an LX that will work since it makes the opening a perfect rectangle, rather than tapered toward the bottom. This is what I had to do for mine.
