: rain x
Montster 11-08-2003, 11:28 PM I tried rain x once and also the anti fogging for the inside.
Bad Bad bad experience. they smeard the glass and did absolutely the oposite.
Talk about truth in advertising.
The rain x made a mess of my wipers and was dificult to remove.
Happy to say that this was on an older vehicle which i sold a few month ago.
I usually wipe the mindows until they feel soft with the same cloth I use to remove carnuba base wax and this usually repels H2o. Not to be used on the windshield. Good "rubber" wipers are in call for here. replace every six month and you'll be fine.
In the meantime... enjoying life beyond these walls.
HappyCamper 11-08-2003, 11:35 PM I saw Stoner Invisible Glass recommended here and gave it a try. Got a can of it at Pep Boys.
I've been pleased with it so far, even on the windshield. The water seems to bead up well, so I'm able to deal with the E's intermittent wipers having only the one speed.
Lightship 11-10-2003, 04:30 PM One of the first things I did was use rain-x on the windshield, took some time, applied a couple of coats and buffed it out, also use on my 64 Chevelle Malibu SS 4 sp, the wipers don't function. good product, and helps keep the windows cleaner.
Best Wishes,

MarkZ 11-10-2003, 05:02 PM I have used Rain-X on all our cars for several years! I love the stuff. Didn't even have to use windshield wipers if I am going over 40 mph in my Dakota.
I haven't applied it yet on the E since I just got it last week, but will this weekend.
foxtail 11-10-2003, 06:30 PM I've been using the Rain-X brand of bug-removing windshield cleaner (Bug-b-gone, or something like that :D ) and it serves 2 purposes. It makes it much easier to get the bugs off the windshield, and it acts like regular Rain-X without the bother of applying it by hand. The Rain-X effect is probably not as strong as when I've applied the liquid, but it's still nice.

I actually apply Rain-X to the windshield and then use the Rain-X brand windshield washer fluid as well. That way it wears of less quickly!
georgeyew 11-19-2003, 10:43 PM I also have RainX on my front windshield and use the RainX wipers. But I am getting a slight chatter, and I can see the chatter marks. What am I doing wrong? Should I clean the window completely and reapply RainX? Or should I just stay away from the stuff. I also have the RainX wiper fluid....so I guess that there's no way to avoid it until the fluid runs out (too much hassle to dump the fluid).
firetruck41 11-20-2003, 01:29 AM I find rainx works well and I don't need to use the wipers very often, but it does need to be reapplied every 2-4 weeks to work well, otherwise the window starts to "cloud" a bit with rain.
MrAnderson 12-10-2003, 12:44 PM You can buy Rain X windsheild washer fluid. I haven't bought any for the E yet but I used it on my S10 and it worked great.
RHYNO 12-17-2003, 09:16 AM I have used Rain-X in the past, that is until I found Castrol Accuvision at Wal-Mart. In my opinion, it is a far better product. It seems to repel water longer than Rain-X.
Also, I went to a local glass shop and purchased some water spot remover specifically for glass. It is similar to a liquid paste. It has some very fine granules that strip away water spots and anything else on the glass. It will not scratch the glass.
Use the water spot remover first and then the Castrol Accuvision, for great results.

You didn't properly clean the windshield, apply and buff then. Rain-X works, flawlessly when properly applied.
