Sweet pop-up Chuck.. when you taken er out ?
thanks!.. I am very excited!
Unfortunately... working this weekend.. and next weekend.. think I might squeeze in the first outing at a state park about 10 miles from home (Norris Dam State Park, TN).. next Tuesday night. Just to try her out. Then a couple of days the week following.. again pretty close by.
I am going to take it to Renfro Valley, KY in October.

For those who might be wondering.. or thinking about getting a PUP.. Here's my experience.. so far.
I was kinda skeptical about pulling anything with my Element.. Did alot of looking, reading and thinking. I decided the 8 ft box was the limit for me. I am still over the 1500 lbs.. probably will be about 1750 when I go camping.
When I drove home today.. about 25 miles.. lots of hills and curves.. and traffic. I just babied the Element.. allowed plenty of extra stopping room.. and kept the speed to under 60.. mostly around 50. To tell the truth.. other than being able to see the PUP behind me (it's wider than the E)... it was a breeze. My E didn't seem to be struggling at all.. Sure I know it's still 1500 (plus) pounds.. so it's working.. but I honestly expected to be more bogged down.. and expected to feel uncomfortable.. but I didn't.
(kept the car out of OD.. and didn't run the AC. Not sure if that helps.. but it made me feel better)
I expect that interstate driving.. with far less stops, curves and close traffic will be even easier. The key (for me) is to always baby the Element.. be aware that the camper is behind me.. and adjust my driving accordingly.
I am not suggesting to anyone that this is what they need to do.. just my experience and opinion.

Congrats!!!
It seems to dwarf the E when it's set up. That's going to be some comfy camping.
It will be great having all of '09 to enjoy it.

not intentional.. but i think it's trick photography. The set up photo was taken from atop the deck of our swimming pool looking down. The deck is on higher ground than the camper and E.. then the E is is on lower ground than the camper.
I am not sure how it compares with other 8 ft box campers.. but this Jayco does appeaer to be pretty tall.

Sounds like you're doin it right Chuck!!!
You might want to add a transmission cooler in the future just to be safe.. It's cheap and an easy install and will definitely keep away any overheat tranny problems.

Sweet camper! We tow a 19' trailer with my husband's Toyota pickup. Trailer and stuff is just at the limit for the truck, but we just pack as light as we can and buy stuff closer to the campground, like our drinking water & soda/beer and we usually camp at campgrounds with water/electric hook ups so we don't have to fill tanks. Anything we can get so we don't have to haul it ALL THE WAY. Have fun. Camping ROCKS!!! :)
