: (Age) Roll Call (Demographic buster)
GYPSYTDA 01-29-2003, 03:32 PM Hi all, i hear the question over and over about the target demographic Honda intended with this vehicle...
Let us see how far off they are, I wanna see an age roll call here, plus guy or gal... (and note which Element you have or intend to get)
I will start it off:
female 33 (34 on April 29)
OWN: Blue Element EX 4WD Automatic. :D
Carla 01-29-2003, 05:49 PM I'm a woman, I'll be 50 this year, and I'm the proud owner of another beautiful blue auto EX 4WD.
:D
GYPSYTDA 01-29-2003, 05:55 PM after my heart with the twin of my element eh?
ibutchman 01-29-2003, 06:24 PM Well, I'm a 43 year young  male. I got the 4WD EX in the Shoreline Mist color.
Darn does this car look good! I'm feeling 10 years younger already.
I am 38, my wife 39. We bought the Green Element.
dangerzone 01-29-2003, 07:58 PM 34 year old male. bought 2wd blue.
traded in my 94 accord with 185,000 miles, gonna miss that car.
GYPSYTDA 01-29-2003, 09:05 PM cool another BLUE!
I still miss my old Prelude. We were gonna trade our Integra for the Element, but decided on selling the Tacoma instead.. sooo The Integra stays for a bit longer over 7 years old, still like new!
oh I love HONDAS!
yazoo68 01-30-2003, 08:20 PM Blue DX Auto.
M (Female) - 36 (37 in February) (Actual owner of the Element!)
T (Male) - 34
First Honda for either of us. M is selling her 1999 VW Beetle and I drive a 2000 VW Passat, which I got after a 1996 VW Jetta. So, we're converts.
Peace out.
M and T (Demo-busters)
GYPSYTDA 01-30-2003, 08:37 PM yazoo68 Congrats on your conversion, enjoy!!!
Hmrjr 01-30-2003, 09:27 PM We hardly fit the target audience????
I am 56 and my wife is 48. I traded an 02 Chevy Trailblazer (40K miles). My wife has a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible.
We love the "E". This is our first Honda (we are glad they are built in Ohio)! We thought the Sebring was a stretch in 2000 as we had always drove GM.
4WD EX
keithmo 01-31-2003, 12:44 AM I'm 42 wife's 39, we're picking up a 4WD EX in the Shoreline Mist on Saturday. We're replacing her car, and were going for the mini van market but we HATED EVERYTHING! We decided to run by and check this out and fell in love.
GYPSYTDA 01-31-2003, 08:54 AM I am loving the comments & reasons so cool what made everyone choose the Element (as well as the people who have converted from VM, GM or other American Manufacturers).
The big fear, has the whole world converted, will we see only Elements on the road now, smiles.. sounds like a horror movie doesn't it??
richard_brooks 01-31-2003, 11:52 AM :D
I am 30 and my Element is Shoreline Mist
Wife is 31 .....
GYPSYTDA 01-31-2003, 12:03 PM Hey rich is your element a DX or EX & 4wd or 2wd?
How do you like the shoreline mist, I had 1/2 was considered it but online sometimes it appeared champagne other times beige? How does it look?
Enjoy!
tigernumber6 01-31-2003, 12:03 PM I'm waiting for an Orange EX 4WD.
I'm a 29yo male living near Detroit, MI.
My wife and I are deciding to give Honda another chance after a terrible experience with her 98 Accord (terrible car, terrible service).
I love the Element and can't wait for it to get here. Had it not come along, I'd still be trying to top 300,000 miles in my 94 Saturn (was at 276,000!).
Is it wrong for me to hope this car fails so I can be the one of the few who owns one? They're so cool I just don't want to share! :D
GYPSYTDA 01-31-2003, 12:12 PM I think as of now you are our Youngest, congrats, we shall see if that can be beat.
I am so sorry you had a previous bad experience with a honda, I wish you well & happiness with your new arrival to be.
Congrats (& I know what you mean, i don't want to see the roads populated with the same vehicle, neat to be unique! but odds are it is becomeing very popular!).
1manparty 01-31-2003, 10:26 PM 31 and male
wife is 32
waiting for AWD manual EX Galapagos Green
My wife took a while to come around to the E. Now she can't wait either!
silver 02-01-2003, 06:21 PM I'm 53, my wife is 45. We originally ordered a Silver EX but, it was delayed/diverted. We took a look at a DX in Shoreline Mist and loved it's "chameleon like" ability to reflect the color(s) of the setting.
Picked up our ELEMENT EX - 2WD - Shoreline Mist Metallic last Friday. Traded in a 92' Camry with 123,000 miles - great car.
GYPSYTDA 02-01-2003, 06:48 PM cool so the shoreline mist is kinda chameleon like eh? I was not sure if it was going to be more champagne colored or beige, the online images were kinda non-descript.. i am thrilled for you guys, and sounds awesome!
elementH3 02-01-2003, 07:58 PM 27yr old male
Love my Element!!!! :)
GYPSYTDA 02-01-2003, 08:25 PM Woo hoo new winner (of the youngest) so far age 27 Elementh3!!
RickB 02-01-2003, 11:20 PM Just ordered our Eternal Blue EX 4WD today . Sure hope dealer is being truthfull and delivery will be within 3 weeks. Wife (46) was complaining she needed something to replace her 91 LeBaron. I had been thinking about Element since I first started reading about it last November. Long story short, I liked Element more than she did so we are still in the market for a new(er) car for her and I will be replacing my '98 Caravan. I think that Honda is off in their target demographics. I am 47 and the Element really appeals to me. It does not particularly appeal to my 18 year old son (thank God), he likes his Accord.
Rick B
RobRexk9s 02-02-2003, 05:53 AM 45 male South Carollina Shoreline Mist Auto EX :D
GYPSYTDA 02-02-2003, 11:47 AM RickB: cool anothe EX 4wd Blue Twin of mine, good choice, smiles.
Yeah it is funny when you look at the ages of everyone who is getting the element, the youngest I have seen so far on this site is like 27.. most are over 40! So you are in good company!
I hope it does come in as expected, I picked mine up over a week ago, and I LOVE IT!!
ALMONDOG 02-02-2003, 05:10 PM im a 38 year old guy,my green ex is due soon. i hope it will live up to my VWvanagons standards. the original fun mobile.
GYPSYTDA 02-02-2003, 05:18 PM Almondog I think the Element will surpass your orginal fun mobile, I hope to hear what youthink when you get it, but I place odds on the Element, it is smooth, comfortable, and incredible.. ENJOY!
49 Male
Just ordered black 4wd auto
Can't wait to get it!
windowtint 02-03-2003, 03:14 AM 28 (will be 29 before taking ownership though...) ~ bday around the corner

GYPSYTDA 02-03-2003, 07:55 AM happy pending b-day windowtint!!

DarkwingD 02-03-2003, 12:15 PM ha Ha!

GYPSYTDA 02-03-2003, 01:14 PM The New Winner.. and Honda would be proud here is their ideal target for the Element.. Darkwing.. now is the D for Duck or what??
I am thrilled you love your element, I wish you two many happy years together!
windowtint 02-03-2003, 09:09 PM GYPSEY... these youngin's would be be the typical local kids that are enrolled at the local private Catholic High Schoool all the old Mobile families send their kids to....
rich, no true sense of reality and P/O'd that their dad didn't get them the new smurf blue 2003 M3 their friends dad got for THEM....
I'm 19 and will be ordering my orange or black Element 2wd EX as soon as I can sell my darn 4runner.
I have a job and am paying for it myself however. Do I fit in the demo? ;)
GYPSYTDA 02-03-2003, 10:18 PM OK Now we have hit the teens with Woot, the winner of the youngest person here, now can we beat that?
Congrats, and I am very proud of you for earning this vehicle on your own.. good job.. you will be even more proud of YOUR Element & the fact that you can honestly say that, rather than someone who it was handed to. The honor is all yours! Enjoy!
lon777 02-04-2003, 07:09 AM Blue EX 2WD 5SPD
Wife 42
Me 41- bday in 3 days! (Hope wife got hint wanted security system for bday)
Traded in another young people's car (97 Civic EX Coupe) for this youth-targeted car. Makes one happy driving it!!
GYPSYTDA 02-04-2003, 07:50 AM Yeah Another Blue! Woo HOO!
OK here it is, so far, the age, color & type talley... since we are on Page 3 of this Roll Call...
AVERAGE AGE: The Averag Guy Age is 37 and the Average Girl Age is 40, so far.
THE OLDEST: the Winner (so far) for the oldest male is HMRJR at 56 and the oldest female (so far) is Carla at 50!
YOUNGEST: The youngest Guy (so far) Woot at 19 and ga Rich Brooks wife at 31 (again so far).
WHAT COLOR? seems to be a tie between Shoreline Mist & Blue for most popular here. followed by green, then orange and tied for last is Silver & black.
TYPE? Ex is most popular by a landslide! 4wd is so far more preferred than the 2wd.
Sharp 02-04-2003, 02:24 PM Male, Age: 50
Blue EX, 4wd
This was the only EX on the lot and I didn't have the patience to wait to see the other colors.
I needed something to haul that big screen tv
back from the electronics store.
The real reason I bought the Element is for versatility. I wanted to have something in between my Chevy K3500 and the wife's Camry.
Traded in a 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. The Frontier just wasn't doing it. Back seat is too small for adults, rough ride. Wife was complaining about having to wear a jog-bra whenever we went anywhere.
Used to have a Toyota Van Wagon. When that died there wasn't anything on the market like it. So the Frontier was a stop gap thing. As soon as I saw the Element the Frontier's day's were numbered. (14 to be exact).
If Honda comes out with a longer version of this I'll trade up. It needs to be about 2 feet longer to fit 4x8 plywood, but this one is fun to drive.
GYPSYTDA 02-04-2003, 04:35 PM Sharp you crack me up, now aside from a limited choice do you like your Element (that is my Element's twin, i have an EX 4wd, automatic in Blue)...
I am glad you found that perfect transition vehicle, i hope it works great for you.
One of the things I like on it, is you can load some of that lumber, slide it under the seats and leave the tail gate down.. and just strap it in.. and you are ready to roll.. We do alot of home projects so that is something else I really like!
ENJOY!
OkieBug 02-04-2003, 08:11 PM I am 40, female and ordered the 2WD Shoreline Mist. The car is actually for my dogs, Ruggus is 6 and Chipper is 5. Does that count??
GYPSYTDA 02-04-2003, 08:32 PM heck yeah dogs count.. i am adding another topic talley.. it seems we have alot of dog owners here (see goes to prove that Element owners are the BEST!) just to see how many we have with pups.. should be interesting!
Welcome to the clan!
metooE 02-04-2003, 10:01 PM 55, black Element. Wife even likes it better then me if thats possible--she is the main driver at 53.
szacherau 02-05-2003, 09:27 AM We should do a Age Poll to see the breakdown.
I am 34, Male. I bought a Blue EX 4WD auto. I mountain bike and have two dogs. The Element is the only car I can imagine owning now.
GYPSYTDA 02-05-2003, 11:39 AM szacherau: well since there are sooo many ages out there, I put up this topic.. and I am keeping talley, I did a count and average the other day and will do another one soon.
I just figured it would be a little much to do a poll with female & male ages from 15 to 100 ya know.. but I am keeping count and I keep reporting them.. thank you for the equal thought, it is really fascinating!
I'm 34 and my wife is 35. Our golden retriever is 5. It took me and the dog and some obnoxious Toyota salesman to convince my wife that the Element was the way to go. We actually bought it as our "family car" for our first, due in March. I must admit it's with sadisitic pleasure that I show it off to friends and colleagues who settled for their minivans.
GYPSYTDA 02-05-2003, 12:07 PM ctk8 yeah I have soo many jealous friends and passer-bys, too.. i was in the shopping center down the road a couple in the new CRV (in blue like my Element) and you should have seen the look on their face.. and that is just honda-to-honda...
People at my husbands work, people at stop lights, and friends are all in awe!!
Our friends are jealous of us for so many reasons already, it is sad (for them).. they all spent mega bucks on weddings (we went to the Pococons) we have the largest house and spent the least money & it is new.. grin.. and so many other things... i love our friends but well you know it is that human competitive nature,.. and the get older get bigger toys competition too, grin!
Elemental Tom 02-05-2003, 01:06 PM :D Well.................I'm 58 going on 18 for the 40th time!
I've been told several times that my Eternal Blue, EX 4WD, looks like a baby HUMMER H2 !
Maybe I'll get some die cut vinyl letters made, for the back hatch. I'll put it right under the "ELEMENT" badge!
"HUMMER 2 1/2"
GYPSYTDA 02-05-2003, 01:12 PM Elemental Tom: awwwww that is soo cute!
yeah in car 'n driver they said the Element looks like the love child of the Hummer & the mini cooper.. which works for me, i think the mini is cute and my hubbie loves the Hummers! (he was in the military go figure huh?)
and 18 still huh.. grin.. well i was born at 30 (so it was said from my childhood, often, err lack there of a childhood, i never was a kid... about time don't ya think?), and though i have past the actual 30 mark perhaps i am eternal 30, i can live with that! Or I am dropping the "0" and going for my toddlerhood.. eh who knows! I am enjoying my Ellie, and life sooo!
"the poor man's hum-V" is my favorite moniker thus far. However, I don't think Hummer owners get accosted at gas pumps and gawked at in intersections quite like the Element owner. Still getting used to allowing total strangers to check out the interior. Best moment of all was taking the downtown show-off trip the first night we had the car and clearly being able to read the lips of two skateboarders on the corner as they stared wide eyed and inquired (at exactly the same time) "what's that???".
GYPSYTDA 02-05-2003, 03:08 PM ctk8: Nahh not a "poor man's" hummer.. this is far richer than a hummer could be,... and cooler.. (not to mention not 1 mpg!)
Now "what's that" might just apply, i think we all hear that!
22 m atx (with a good job... good enough to buy a new car)
Generation Y.... and lovin' it.

Elementowner 02-05-2003, 09:57 PM About to be 24 in a few weeks. This is my first new car that I have purchased on my own.
2wd EX - black
I am absolutely in love. My last honda left with over 140,000 miles on it. This one has barely 200 (guess I better get to driving). The best part - the paper plates on my new one - 2-22-03 - my birthday.
GYPSYTDA 02-06-2003, 08:47 AM pdub: another young'en and would make Honda Happy they are getting those young guys eh?
Elementowner: another young guy.. and Hey Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you (in 2 weeks and 2 days) happy birthday to you!
That is soo cool the tags have your b-day awesome!
Perhaps my accessories will be in before the tag date (which i think is for Feb 24th or 25).. sigh!
Dennis1 02-06-2003, 11:49 AM I'm 55 and my wife is 55 and we feel like 30 again.
I got my wife last month a New CRV and I got what I wanted the most a Element EX Auto in the Shoreline Mist Color. I think she likes mine the best because she is always making excuses for borrowing it.
GYPSYTDA 02-06-2003, 12:45 PM Dennis1: Cute, and yeah I suffer with the same problem, my hubbie loves it and tries to come up with any excuse to drive it.. it is funny.. then again he always loved the vehicles i would choose, from back to when we first met.. i always had the cooler and more reliable vehicle.. I converted him from the American Cars he had become accustomed to (breaking down).
Well enjoy that.. and either way the CRV is nice too, even if you get "stuck"with that one, grin.. ENJOY & CONGRATS!!
Ranger1 02-07-2003, 03:27 PM My wife and I are new owners of a silver EX 4WD. My wife is 38 and I am 29. I might be in the demographic, "I don't think so" but my wife certainly is not. We love it so far. I drive to work every day in it and I wish I had further to drive when I get there. It is a pure joy to drive. A few heads have started to turn in the area! I am in rural North Carolina and Virginia. They have not seen many of these for sure. We both like it for the versitility and cool design of the body. GO ELEMENT!!! 8)
Juandelrio 02-07-2003, 11:25 PM 49 year old male Sunset Orange 4wd ex...I'm having a new 9'6'' longboard made to match the color of the car then taking it on a road trip to Scorpion Bay in Baja. Check it out at www.juanyjuan.com
GYPSYTDA 02-08-2003, 10:00 AM Juandelrio: cool site, neat pix.. you sound like you are gonna be a fun one here.. !!
I think the orange is the color to have in CA, whatcha all think?
superskunk 02-08-2003, 10:26 AM I am barely 30, male. (Gen X)
I used to watch the Transformers and Voltron. :P
Now I drive a blue box.
That is all.
GYPSYTDA 02-08-2003, 02:40 PM Welcome Super-Skunk!
Enjoy that blue box!
LittleDogBox 02-08-2003, 07:56 PM Looks like most of us are around the same age. I am 47. 8)
DrAlbertLee 02-09-2003, 04:04 PM Hi kids. I am 70 years and 6 months YOUNG. I am the proud and pleased owner of my Galapagos Green EX Auto AWD ELEMENT. (Yes, kids, you can call me "grandpa" if you want.) Am I in the targeted demographic?
I sold my Red Jeep Wrangler ragtop to buy my Element. I considered buying a red Element until I discovered it was actually orange. Thought I would leave that conservative color for you youngsters under 60.
I am an ex-paratrooper (82nd Airborne Korean Veteran) and an ex-inner city high school principal (very similar challenges). I have always loved the outdoors (I spent a month, when in my mid-40's, at an "Outward Bound" challenge program). I love to camp, bike, and kayak -- and my new green "Turtle" (Hint: Darwin, Galapagos Island) will carry the gear I need to do all of those things at once. When I am egaged in these kinds of activities I am really in my "element." Hope to see some of you youngsters at some Missouri campgrounds this summer.
ibutchman 02-09-2003, 05:56 PM DrAlbertLee,
I'm 43 and I know one thing, Your in "Our demographics" as Element owners.
Welcome Aboard! :D
superskunk 02-09-2003, 07:09 PM DrLee... you rock! 8)
Hope I am as active as you when I am 70!
Derek
okfine 02-09-2003, 07:43 PM Just got my Element Ex and I don't fit the demographic either, 47 yr old female. My 17 yr old snowboarding daughter loves the car, not that she will get the chance to drive it. She can keep on driving her 95 Blazer!
GYPSYTDA 02-09-2003, 09:05 PM What a great crew we have here.. led by Doc the 70 year old kid. awesome! I wish i had his energy, and i am close to 1/2 his age.. way to go!
konzie 02-09-2003, 11:00 PM My wife and I are both 24. We traded in a 2002 Jeep Liberty and a 1994 Toyota Corolla just to get our hands on something reliable and something we didn't have to worry about mileage with (Jeep was a lease). We're a one car family now and the Element had to be adaptable to our lifestyle (skiing, hauling crap around, loving to drive, camping, etc.)
This spring, I'm getting the hitch so I can tow my Honda CBR 954 (getting rid of the F4i). Yes, you can say I'm a Honda man.
-Jim
GYPSYTDA 02-10-2003, 08:40 AM KOnzie: "1994 Toyota Accord " ???
konzie 02-10-2003, 08:54 AM My bad. I fixed it. I also had a 1999 Honda Accord Coupe EX though. That was my fav.... Oh, how I miss stick.
-Konzie
GYPSYTDA 02-10-2003, 08:59 AM konzie: we are all human.. I just was not sure if that might be a Camry or was it a Honda, soo just curious, thank you so much!
Accord Great Car! It is funny with the BIG HUGE re-do they did to the Accord, they made it sound sooo drastic, but it is not, the coupe is reministent of the prelude, but that is about as extreme as it got with this HUGE CHANGE! Still a wonderful car!
ericb 02-11-2003, 06:39 AM :o
Hi, my name is Eric, I'm 33 years old, I'm from Quebec, Canada.
I ordered my Orange Honda Element 2WD with Y package last week !
I still don't know when I will receive it. I'm very happy to participate to this nice website !
Congratulations !!
ibutchman 02-11-2003, 07:30 AM Welcome Eric,
Glad to have you aboard!
NuBluElement 02-11-2003, 10:14 AM Hi,
I'm 28 and my fiancé is 23. We fit the demographic kind of I guess. Oh through in one kid and that's us.
It's a cool family car for us. And a biking and camping gem. We love to mountain bike and enjoy the outdoors. So, this vehicle is just perfect for our little family.
Color: Blue
Model: 2WD EX
Cheers,
JR & JD :D
janus285 02-11-2003, 11:47 AM Hey Everyone -
I'm Erich, stereotypic Gen X boy from Kent, Ohio, age 28. Finally got my E yesterday after waiting almost 4 weeks. So far so good, traded in a 97' Toyota Rav-4 and has been decent in the snowbelt of NE Ohio the past 2 days.
Hope this car behaves itself, doesn't end up with the niggling issues some have had - I'm a poor PhD candidate, so can't be messing around with car probs the remaining year and half of school (classes, comps, and dissertation give me enough to stress over.....)
Shalom 8)
GYPSYTDA 02-11-2003, 11:51 AM Welcome & Congrats to: janus285 & NuBluElement
Welcome & Hope yours comes in real quick to: ericb
As far as janus285 our poor phd, the problems are nothing that will leave you stranded they are minor, and the fixes should be quick... Honda makes extremely reliable vehicles.. so the problems if any willbe superficial! ENJOY!
PhillyElement 02-11-2003, 01:37 PM 35 Male soon to be 36 with a Silver and Grey Element
GYPSYTDA 02-11-2003, 01:57 PM Welcome soon to be 36 Philly Element!!
I'm a 28 y/o male and got my Element today! Galapagos green (great name and color!) 2wd EX. Living in NorCal, don't really need much more then that in the valley. Traded in the wife's Focus (we had a much more creative name for it...) and we're extremely stoked about this vehicle. Got it with 11 miles on it! That's a great feeling! First new car I've ever got...way more exciting! Now, just need to trick it out...
GYPSYTDA 02-12-2003, 07:14 AM remf: Congrats & Welcome.. now do tell what are your plans to "trick" out your Element..
also what was the more creative name for your Focus?
The nickname for the Focus was the Fu**-us...it was a giant POS.
As for tricking it out...probably too strong a word. Just want to add a couple of things: running boards, front air deflector, privacy blinds and I need to find something to mount an iPod to in the front. Oh and the XM antennae...
GYPSYTDA 02-12-2003, 01:30 PM remf: ahh kinda what i thought you might call the Focus, just wanted to check... it is Funny about Ford and these economy car nightmares they keep adopting... the Festiva which was a tin can with tires replaced by the Aspire, replaced by the Focus... humm interesting huh? And all of them have been pieces of garbage oh well, ...
OK thank goodness you are not "tricking it out" I know when people say that the vehicle does look like trailer trash.. thank you.. yeah the nice enhancements are cool.. but some of the things people will do to cars, gasp, gag, ack!
dstrand 02-13-2003, 11:01 AM Well Im a 32 soon to be 33 year old kid I dont want to leave my youth behind. I still ride my skateboard on the local ramps and at the cement park. I also ride and race Mountain Bikes and enjoy camping and the outdoors in general. The Element just makes me feel good and fits my lifestyle perfectly.

utahrex 02-13-2003, 06:50 PM I'm 58 and all the others I saw looking at Elements were near my age too.
Salesman told me this morning he had yet to sell one to anyone without grey whiskers!!
GYPSYTDA 02-13-2003, 06:58 PM utahrex: Welcome & did you get yours yet?
yeah poor honda's marketing team, they are all fired. :P
dutchbroscoffee 02-14-2003, 12:41 AM divorced male 28 with a 19 month old boy this is the perfect car for us its so easy to get in and around he loves it too

dougup 02-16-2003, 11:03 AM So I'm 35, but I think that the real demographic here isn't the age, but the "gadget-addiction" level of the buyers. I'm curious how many of you are like I am in that I have to have the latest and greatest gadgets as quickly as they come out. Here are some of my early adoptions:
TiVo: Almost 2.5 years
Danger Sidekick: 2 weeks after release in October
Ipod: 2 months after release
How many of the rest of you are early adopters in other areas of your life??

ibutchman 02-16-2003, 11:35 AM I bought a 1974 Civic in 1975 in the Car capital of the World. I was seen as odd.
But I was just ahead of my time.I've always liked the new and different. With the Element I guess it shows.
kylenmel 02-16-2003, 02:43 PM We are the proud new owners of a 4WD EX Galapagos Green Element. We absolutely love it!! I'm 28 years old and my husband is 29. It does wonders on the snow. Our 2 labrador retrievers (one yellow and one chocolate) are also in love it. I've never seen such happier dogs when they are riding our new Baby Hummer.

Alien Element 02-16-2003, 04:48 PM I am 36 (Male), will be 37 next month. I will be selling my Suzuki Sidekick Sport 4x4 and trading in my GMC Sonoma Club Coupe pickup for an EX 4WD Element sometime in May/June. As far as color goes, I am partial to black - both my other vehicles are black. But I am open to blue, silver, green, and orange... but not the mist.
ibutchman 02-16-2003, 04:55 PM Have you seen the mist in person. To me its such a nice contrast to the fenders. 8)
I will throw in my 2 cents worth, the Green looks super in person. It holds up well against dirt and grime. :D
OkieBug 02-16-2003, 08:18 PM I am a 40 yr old female w/ 2 small dogs and one tall husband. I wasn't in the market for a new vehicle but I had to buy one before they got to popular and became too difficult to get.
I did the same thing with the last car I bought, a 96 Suzuki X-90. I figured everyone would have to have one and bought one the first day our dealership in Tulsa got it. Well, they didn't sell very well and Suzuki quit making the X-90 after 3 years.
burnt-O 02-16-2003, 09:04 PM HI! I am 28 (will be 29 March 2nd) and my husband is 31, although I won't be sharing my E with him very often! But I do thank him since he is the one who showed me the car- I was trying to decide whether or not to go for an Outlander. He said, "Don't decide until you see this" and the rest is history! I am now a proud owner of a SO 4WD automatic!
Alien Element 02-16-2003, 09:38 PM Have you seen the mist in person. To me its such a nice contrast to the fenders.
Hey ibutchman,
No I haven't seen the Mist in person yet. There are four Honda dealerships within 30 miles of me, but I have only had time to visit two of them. The closest dealer has had 2 blue, 1 black, and 1 green that I have seen. All of them sold within days of arriving on the lot (except the green - it has a window sticker that says "Dealer Demo - Not For Sale). The other dealership I went to, an AutoMall BTW, seems to really like silver as they have had 10 of them! The showroom demo they have is black though. A third dealership says they have an orange one on the lot, but I haven't been able to get out their way yet. By the time I get the chance it will be gone! The fourth dealership doesn't have a website, so I don't even know if they have any on hand. I'll have to call them before I make the trip up!
Hello, I’m 35 with my new Sunset Orange EX 5 speed. I traded in my 97 F150 4x4 extended cab. My wife is 33 and just bought her a 2003 Toyota Matrix. I’m glad I test drove the 5 speed at the last min…The 5 speed is the way to go….It’s tight! Love it!

E = Baby H2 02-20-2003, 11:35 AM After 18 years of marriage, I sold my wife's 93 Quest with 150,000 miles on it and bought her her 1st brand new car.....a 2WD Orange EX. I'm 6' and she's 5'2. Even with the front seats all the way back, I can stretch out in the back seats (like a Checker cab).
I'm 41, my wife's 38
Iksar 02-20-2003, 04:43 PM 35 and male.
I broke three personal rules buying my E:
1. No foreign cars, call me ethnocentric.
2. No 4 cylinder cars.
3. No new cars (Ridiculous depreciation).
Justifications:
1. Yes, I know it was made in Ohio
2. Has as much ooph as my last V6 (although mileage in't much better - yet).
3. I couldn't wait another year for a ride this cool. It rules!
ibutchman 02-20-2003, 09:32 PM I also don't like the loss on new cars, but I just had to get this one!
My last new car was in 1988. It's been awhile :)

47, wife 45. Silver EX AWD. Traded a Montero. Montero had a great 4X4 system but heavy, slow, expensive, rebuilt engin at 59k, insurance crazy. I broke a rule to. This is the first new car I have ever purchased. Same reason as many others, didn't want to wait, it was exactly what I wanted. I also have the feeling that the prices on these things will climb.
trackboy1001,
It is head size, not shoe size thank you very much.
fosterbo 02-24-2003, 10:51 PM Male aged 55 with job. 46 year-old wife works too. Saw the E on line last summer and started looking for ways to rationalize getting one. Went to Yosemite in December and had to chain up three times. Then, like an answer to prayer, the mechanic said my '85 Mercedes diesel, with 120K miles, need $1,400 worth of front end work. That was the cue to sell it and get a replacement.
Our EX 4WD Black Element arrives next week! After the break-in period, we'll go the 360 miles along the eastern Sierra Nevada to June Lake, to ski and hopefully drive through snow. Couldn't justify a gas guzzler. And it's a real bonus that the E is mostly US & Canadian made!
One of the dealers told me that Honda never makes a mistake, but they were off in targeting the E to 18-26 year-olds. He said most of the buyers were near 55.
Aykew 02-25-2003, 11:37 AM Male, 23 years old. (24 in a couple of months!) Married, with a bun in the oven! (Part of how we could justifying getting a new car. The Element should be great for baby access!) Baseball over surfing any day!
bigmobrown 02-25-2003, 11:51 AM I'm 42 and my wife is 46. We picked up our EX 4wd in Shoreline Mist last Saturday. We love it!!

I am so thrilled with my EX blue Element.......today is the first day I've had it..........I do a lot of "side road" exploring, nature-related activities....etc., and this is the perfect ride for me! It suits my needs, is definetely my personality. I traded in a 1999 loaded Ford Explorer that rode like a cloud......but this Element is me!!! I have 2 Irish setters, one bloodhound, one rescue dog and one minature schnauzer....so I can haul these guys to the Vet and wipe it out! I am thrilled! And, I'm not letting my husband take it away from me......he can have his truck!!!!

coach_tony 02-27-2003, 02:39 PM 44 year old husband and wife with 3 kids. Older daughter is going to college in the summer so a 4 seater is great. We will be picking up our Orange EX in two weeks. Our new element will be sharing the garage with a 1990 Ford Explorer (yuck!) and a pristine 1978 Datsun 280Z (yeah!). Traded in a 1993 Isuzu Trooper with 190,000 miles on it, my best car ever!
Sunstoke 02-27-2003, 06:33 PM Hi, I am 33 years old, and my wife is 29. I got the Shoreline Mist 4WD EX Auto and we love it! I went to the dealer with my father-in-law to get a Pilot and was walking in to make a deal, and the E caught my eye. I test drove it and the rest is history! My 65 year old father-in-law thought it was cooler than I did! We have had no other problems in a month and 1800 miles other than a stone chip in the windshield. We get b/t 22 and 23 MPG which I am very happy with compared to my 2000 Explorer. (Which also had a stone chip within a month btw.) We love all of the stares that it gets, mostly from older guys who have mainly been the ones who have asked about it! (One was at least 70, he said his dealer didn't have one for him to test drive yet!) This is a really good site and I have gotten alot of great info so far! 8)
JE_ELEMENT_TN 03-04-2003, 03:21 PM 25 years old. Male. Shoreline mist EX. Is it just me, or do people seem to stare at the Element. I mean, going down the road, people break their neck... Ha Ha.

Yeah, very different in person than in any of the pictures. They had an automatic at the dealership on Sunday which my wife and I drove (I'm 43, she's 46), and our 5sp. Misty is due later *this* week.

My first car was a 1982 Honda Accord, great car! Then have had two Acuras since then.
Now giving up a 2001 BMW 325Ci for our "HONDA H2"... yes that's our CA License plate. We'll miss the bimmer for its awesome performance, but this is so much more practical for road trips with Chloe, so unique and so cool!
Any other San Francisco Bay Area folks out there?
Ger Brassfield 03-07-2003, 11:55 PM Well, lessee here, I am 57, going on 25, and I am having my second childhood because of this car!! I have installed a LOUD (117 db) back up alarm so people will acknowledge the dump truck they think they hear and GET OUTA the WAY!! I have the rack, alloys, wind deflector, exhaust tip and running boards. I also installed a roof mounted spotlight from a RV accessory store that is controlled from the dash, but mounted the control box on a gooseneck with a project box on top of the neck, fastened to the top of the center console (in front of) the forward drink holder. The remote head of my ham radio will also be installed to the box. The antenna is mounted on the left front fender, at the flat spot forward of the windshield, between the fender and the hood, at an existing bolt holding the inside of the fender to something. No holes to drill!!
Looking for the front bumper guard to put on when it becomes available thru aftermarket locations. Hope they make a really gnarley-looking one!
dmcarley 03-10-2003, 08:32 PM I am a 50 year old male. I have ordered a black Element Y with manual transmission and traded a 2002 Civic Sedan on it. I just wish Honda had produced this vehicle years ago. I have owned Hondas since 1980 and all with manual transmissions.
rodaniel 03-11-2003, 03:33 AM I am 39 and my wife is 40. Our Shoreline Mist 4wd EX Element is as good an excuse as any to act 10 years younger.
We actually went out to the garage a couple of days ago and laid the seats out to see how sleeping in the E would be. We're thinking about heading up to McDonald's Observatory in Fort Davis, TX this weekend to lay back and view the stars through the removable moon roof. McDonald's Observatory is perched upon the highest point in Texas and usually so clear that you can see the Milky Way with your naked eye.

BB & Freaky-E 03-16-2003, 11:52 PM First off I am a guy I bought the Element on my 27th birthday. I am the previous owner of a 1999 VW beetle, ( so I am used to all the looks ) sold it and bought a 97 Dodge RAM couldn't stand getting 9 mpg's so I sold it to buy the element I had my heart set on for a while. I got the shoreline mist EX 2wd 5-Speed. Wanted the sunroof but Gotta have a 5 speed ( wish it were a 6-speed though ) I LOVE IT!!!

I got my senior license this past summer after taking driver education, and so far I love my car. Working on upgrading the Sub inside!!! i'll tell u how it goes.. Till then...LATER
Boyracerone 03-21-2003, 12:17 AM Personally, as a 38 year young male, I was first taken with the Silver....until I opened the door and saw the blue accents on the interior. The Blue was my next choice...not minding the interior so much with the blue exterior. As a long road choice, I decided that the blue would show too much wear. The nighthawk black was definitley out of the question. I currently own a 91 CRX Si in black and will never own another black car. So that left it pretty much to the Elements that had a charcoal interior. That left me with with Nighthawk Black....Ugh....Those panels already look too way out of focus...SOP...Cool, but way too trendy a color. So I have decided on SLM. Perfect! At first I thought of it as a girlie color, (no offense gals!), but in the long run it will still look good five years down the road and has a classy look to it!

jayharley 04-09-2003, 05:43 PM 52 years old, and still a tough old biker with the standard grey beard, tattoos and pony tail. Bought a silver EX. My friends are giving me trouble because I bought something Japanese. My HD is parked next to a Honda. But as I tell them: I am old enough to not care what anyone thinks of how I handle my life and my money. I REALLY LIKE THE ELEMENT. I plan on keeping it for a long while.
abkilbourne 04-10-2003, 10:17 AM I'm close to the demographic. 29 year old male.
Bought a NHB 4wd EX primarily to haul all my crap - bicycles, golf clubs, etc. I like the utility and the gas mileage. The lease was up on my 2000 Isuzu Trooper Limited - a nice comfortable SUV with lots of room, a huuuggge sunroof, and a thirsty engine (14 mpg). I've had my E for 12 days. Happy so far. Haven't had much time to play yet.

Nesha 05-02-2003, 09:10 PM My husband is 77 (no, that wasn't a typo), and I'm 58. We will soon be replacing our 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan with an auto AWD Element (not sure of color choice yet). We've been wanting a smaller car, but none of the small SUVs can accommodate our dog's crate. We visited a local dealership a few weeks ago and examined the Element up close in the showroom (we had to wait our turn because there was a throng of people ahead of us). We fell in love with it, and we could see that the dog's crate would fit with no problem and not obstruct our vision. Fortunately, my husband will keep his 1988 Saab 900 convertible w/manual transmission, so I'll get to drive the Element most of the time.

cabcebu 05-11-2003, 11:11 PM Buying Element EX 4WD Shorline Mist, it's replacing my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT I just sold, my wife has 2002 Sonata LX, we also have 1950 Studebaker Champion (bulletnose) and 1962 Studebaker Champion Pickup. I'm 57 my wife is 40 we have 8 year old son.

I too slightly missed the marketing plan. 51 y/o male. Getting older, but haven't grown up yet! :?
There's just my wife and I, but the 'parking lot' outside the house holds the following stock:
2003 SOP EX 4WD (w/side step and fog lights - looks sharp!)
2000 Civic 4-Door Sedan LX
1995 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Club Cab Long Bed (for sale-makes room for E)
1984 Civic 4-Door Sedan (bought new - still in use!)
1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk (work in progress)
1953 Studebaker Champion 2-Door Sedan (fully restored back to original)
I either need more drivers or fewer vehicles (NOT!) :D
daSlinky 08-21-2003, 09:46 AM I don't know if I count, but I'm 13 and plan on owning an element (prefreably SOP, 2WD, EX, Side Airbags, etc.) as soon as possible. I'm not expecting much help from my parents though, so that might be a while.
boxonw 08-21-2003, 10:13 AM 37 y/o, since I bought the E, I felt like a 13 y/o.
Wife is 30 y/o

Mine's SSM EX AT 4WD, a real fun car.

flybigjet 04-08-2005, 02:54 PM 38 (39 next month). Single. 2005 5MT AWD SOP EX. It replaced a 2001 5MT Ford Focus ZX3 (hatchback) and 1989 5MT Acura Integra RS (hatchback). I needed something inexpensive, AWD, stick shift and snow/mountain/ski/board/climb/bikable, as my other car essentially a street-legal race car that never sees rain or snow. R.
LilSilver 04-08-2005, 04:08 PM (Gulp)... :-o 53 year old female... married, no dogs, no kids. (How's that for blowing their demographic!?) Wanted a practical, reliable car to get me and hubby (and our STUFF) from point A to point B, in town and on the highway. Time to replace the minivan, and the E seemed perfect (or it would be if the driver's seat was power-adjustable!... maybe Honda can come up with the Baby Boomer ["old farts'"] "comfort-for-my-old-achin'-back" package!) LOL
36 yr old guy, married (going on 15yr in June) with 4 kids.
Finally decided I needed the next new car and not the wife :D.
Wife thinks I am nuts with the amount of stuff I can come up with to do to my new E.

rmd-E 04-14-2005, 09:13 PM 31 (32 in a couple weeks), male. just picked up our 05 MM AWD EX (19 days old now). It's my "grown-up" car - other cars include 97 civic (modded - my kid car, with 138K on the clock - looks, runs new) and 01 A4. I love this thing - fun to drive, hauls my 7-6 surf board, mountain bike, bmx bike, snowboard, etc. i guess you can say i somewhat fit the demographic - just a slightly older kid.
LMNTRY 04-15-2005, 09:59 AM Age 44, male, 04 NBP EX
Found my 04 EX in February of this year, apparently it was one of the last 04 NBP EX's around. My first Honda auto purchace, replacing a Durango, I wanted something with good milage, but could still fit my bill, needing to do some light towing and get me through the winters in MN. I love the look of the black on black, and had my front windows tinted to match the rears. Looking to do some camping and will be ordering the tailgate cabana. I will be taking the dog to sturgis this summer pulling a Shadow Aero 1100. I know it's wimpy to pull a motorcycle to Sturgis, but last year I rode the whole way, so at least I can say, been there, done that. Can't wait to see the looks I get with the E pulling a sibling 2-wheel cruiser. Now I'm tempted to paint my cycle to match my E!
Hanzi 04-15-2005, 10:19 AM I'm 34 and my wife is 35. We each have an element - mine is an 03 SMM EXAWD and hers is an 04 GGM EXAWD - each has hood deflector, sidesteps, tailpipe finisher, home made grille screens, splashguards and of course the car seat for the 2 year old. We bought the 03 primarily for my wife but when our other car was getting a little long in the tooth, we both loved the E so much - we went for number 2. I'm shopping around now for more accessories - a dash kit, OEM style matts, and maybe even a home made liner bed for the back. Also might install some dynamat in a few places to dampen road noise.
We love our Es !!!
HeCam17 04-15-2005, 10:58 AM I'll be 46 in a few weeks, the wife is 29 (14 times). We have one spoiled dog, no kids, married 16 yrs this summer.
The new E is an 05 Mag MetalicEXAuto2WD. Lots of fun and more room than I could have imagined in a car/truck/small apt.

Interesting. The other age related post http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=126704&highlight=Average came up with an average age of 36.89 years after 109 posts.

The E will be replacing a pair of Passat wagons, (92 GL and 97 GLX). It'll be our only 'regular' car. The Ghia is for 'fair weather driving' (better way of saying that it leaks).
ElementGrrl 04-25-2005, 06:27 PM I was 38 when I picked up my new Element a month ago. I just turned 39 today
I think Honda was marketing this vehicle mostly to the young, West Coast crowd. I live on the East Coast and see mostly an equal number of males & females, over 30, driving the E. Go figure?
18 Year old Male
2005 Orange AWD EX
The Target market of the Element was deffently to the younge. But I think the greater number of older (meaning 25+ crowd) owning them is simple because of the funcuality, price, and the ease to maintain it. I gusse the older you become, the less responsabilty you want to bring on ur self, if that makes sence.
ElementalFox 04-25-2005, 06:53 PM 27 married no element yet, plan on having one by fall

On an interesting side note, my other car is a Mazda Miata, and I have noticed several other E owners on this board also own miatas.
My reason is the Miata is a fun car to drive. The E is a vehicle to do fun things (hiking, surfing, biking, light camping, etc).
