I recently replaced the whole audio system in my '07 LX with a Sony Xplod head unit (CDX-GT420U (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?o=r&g=300&i=158GT420U&tp=5684)) and Xplod 6 1/2" two ways (GT1625A (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=52000&i=158GT1625A&tp=95)) in all the doors. I have to say that the performance is already head and shoulders above the stock cardboard speakers and head unit. Not only do I have aux and USB in, I get terrific highs, mids, and...only moderate bass.
I knew trunk rattle wasn't going to happen with 6 1/2" two ways - un-amplified at that (although they're adequately powered by the receiver), so I recently picked up the Honda OEM sub/console to enhance the low-end. I understand it's not earth-shattering, but I frankly can't afford to give up real estate in the cabin for a proper box.
Looks like the console comes with the Honda wiring harness attached, so I'm assuming I'll need some sort of adapter to run to the amp. Is this the same gear that Crutchfield sells? All their adapters were a snap when I re-fitted the door speakers.
I have two pre-amp outputs (L + R RCA) behind my head unit. Because it's a mono sub I'm assuming a mono amp is called for. I've tried researching the specs on the OEM sub but haven't found any hard data out there. Any one have any ideas? That info greatly influences amp choice. In an ideal world I'd get something small to conceal behind the passenger kick panel like the EX. Has anyone done this on an LX or have suggestions for a cheap-ish amp that would get the job done?
I apologize for my audio noob-ness. Any help is greatly appreciated!
