If the all-season mats are going to go on special, I might get those rather than some non-oem ones for all our wintery goodness (mainly rain and slush with some snow that doesn't last very long, creating more water) in Boise!

I voted for the spoiler but I may not wait. A forum member is selling his deflector at a decent price. If only it had been the October surprise.

but we r in california. winter does not truly exist with the climate changes. but, a nice set of fogs just for some extra added brightness would not hurt.

Wal Mart sells these really beefy black rubber ones. Much better than the OEM ones from what I'm told. OEM ones supposedly have problems with crap seeping over the edges.

Again, this is what I'm told. Haven't seen any snow with my E yet, but for 6 years I had a civic in North Dakota and had those Wal Mart mats and they rock.

Heck If I wanted aftermarket floor mat's I wouldn't be lookign here for them. Same goes for everyone looking at the fog lights and spoiler...

I have some universal ones in there now and they slide all over the place. Like I said befoer, lets offer some other stuff for those who bought foglights and the spoiler the first time around. It seems like it recycles through the same items all the time..

It sucks that the tailgate spoiler doesn't come in SOP. The only way to get it sop would be to repaint it, which will raise the overall cost of the darn thing. :(

ssm and asm look very similar to one another, i haven't seen both colors side by side though. Almost like smm & mm & ggm colors being similar. You might be able to get away with an asm tailgate spoiler on your ssm.

I have OEM mats, the edges are not high enough in some areas, that's why "problems with crap seeping over the edges" is true (especially driver's side under pedals). If you have snow and expect these to keep your floor dry, you're going to have to make some "major" modifications to the mat. The mat is thin and is very flexible. I noticed that there is a groove by the passenger side door and the mat follows it. If I dropped a drink on that side, it would flow into the groove, the mat would not stop it.

Please pardon my ignorance, what is the difference between the rear deflector and the spoiler, except for the lack of paint matching but more functionality of the former and the style points of the latter?

The rear air deflector functions to keep your rear window clear of frost.

The rear spoiler allows you to take high speed turns at full throttle.*

the air deflector is the width of the painted part. it comes in only one color, the same color as the side steps and front grill. it, also, has a gap betweek the e and the deflector. the spoiler comes for the 07+ years so it is only offered in those colors. it, however, fits all models. It is the width of the entire rear and it wraps around the edges. it fits flush to the e. look at the pics on the handa site. u can see the difference i explained.

Yep, I did look at the pictures and I'm confused. What I am trying to discern is the functionality of the spoiler versus the deflector. While the deflector makes sense, I wonder if the spoiler also does the same, but with more style?

I have the tailgate spoiler, and my E's rear manages to get the rear dirty. Although, I would imagine if I still had the deflector on, the rear would be even more filthy than it gets now. I like the spoiler a lot for it's style, especially since it wraps the the full width of the E.

they are both supposed to serve the same function. by the looks of the two, the spoiler seems to be more effective and looks a heck of a lot better. no offense to anyone with the deflector.

Mega,

Now I'm really confused. I assume that the deflector/spoiler would vent clean roof air down to the rear hatch, thus promoting a clean rear window. If the rear window gets dirty with the appendages installed, then there is flow separation there and the reverse backflow (from the rear bumper up to the rear window) is the culprit. So, I am guessing that neither appendage work as intended?

Peter

honestly, i could care less if my rear window got that dirty. first, i went to gotcarwash.com and i spend about $40.00 usd a month to get unlimited car washes from a car wash about 0.2 miles from my house. second, the spoiler just adds to the sporty-ness of my e. third, it is quite appealing and matches up with my offset front (less boxy with my bull bar and the spoiler...do not get me wrong. i LOVE the box).

anyhow, it can only help the rear window so much. it is currently raining up a storm. i was driving earlier and thinking that when i install the spoiler less water should be on that window. as a side note to this, i removed my rear wiper and i have a plug on it. i never really used the wiper in the first place. gravity just drags the water down. box.

peter, are you planning to get yourself a spoiler or air deflector?

anyhow, i got the spoiler and the fogs. fantastic deal. thank you VERY much.

Well, the prices are comparable. So asthetically, the spoiler rules. But as an engineer with lopsided left brain influence, I need to know the functionality before I purchase it. That's why I am asking the question. So, whichever works best, I'll buy.

BTW, the spoiler is competing with this (www.saddlebackleather.com/briefcases.asp) as my Christmas present :D. It has been rough deciding.

Peter
