: NC Saint Bernard Rescue's Reunion
bh241 10-14-2008, 12:01 PM Just wanted to remind everyone that the NC Saint Bernard Rescue is holding the 2008 Rescue Reunion this coming Sunday, October 19th in Durham, NC. Please come down if you can, I promise a day of fun, hair, and of course slobber. :)
Seriously, it would give everyone a chance to see some of the Saints that I've posted about these past few months.
Here's a copy of the announcement:
Have you adopted a Saint Bernard from NCSBR? Are you considering adopting a Saint? Or maybe just curious about this wonderful breed, if so you should join us next Sunday, October 19th, at the 2008 NC Saint Bernard Rescue Reunion.
Our Rescue Reunion is open to everyone, not only will some of the past adopted Saints be there, but a few who are looking for that elusive 'Forever Home'. We may even have a few 'Honorary Saints'.
Make plans now to attend, Sunday October 19th at 1:00pm in Durham, NC at Sunny Acres Pet Resort.
For more information see NCSBR's website (http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/ncsaintrescue.html) or the page devoted to the reunion (http://members.petfinder.org/%7ENC351/reunion_2008.html)
A printable flyer (http://essautomation.com/ncsbr/ncsbr_reunion.pdf) is available too.

bh241 10-22-2008, 10:45 AM Pictures please, and how is Captain doing? Was he there?
Captain was not there, he is confined for at least another week. His newest cast is massive - the surgeons do not want him to put any pressure on the leg at all just yet.
We didn't have as large a turn out as I had hoped, but there were 30 some odd people and 20 some odd saints. I saw a few that brought back a few smiles to see how well they are doing now, but at the same time there were so many that didn't make it.
I was so looking forward to seeing Lily and Molly but neither made it.

slimerdogs 10-26-2008, 07:05 AM Looks great. We also do a reunion here in So cal adopt a saint a few weeks ago and had a blast. That is a great vid to put on your website. I always love when someone walks up and sez how huge the dogs are and I reply that they are still growing witch makes a kodak moment.:???:
_jea_ 10-26-2008, 08:34 AM Benny, I just LOVED it!! The music is perfect and the pictures are just gorgeous! The Goldens are also so beautiful.
Good job guys!
Margaret 10-26-2008, 11:57 PM This thread is probably the place to ask. Who was that Saint Bernard here on the EOC that was carted around in a wheelchair/cart? It may have been over a year ago the last time they posted. Yesterday I saw one in a chair/cart on the seawall -I think it was a Saint, all I could see was black and white though- and I wonder if it might be the same Saint here on vacation. I've tried doing a search for Saint and Bernard and could not find that particular Saint. Does anyone know anything about this dog?
islandsi 10-27-2008, 02:38 AM I want one of these big slobbery fuzz balls. :)
bh241 10-27-2008, 06:37 AM Margret I think the saint you're thinking about is Emmett

I wonder if we could get an EOC transport together... ;-)
Saints probably wouldn't care for the tropical island climate so much...
silly dogs... what do they know about paradise? To them it's being allowed on the sofa.
The 1st dog my sister ever had was a St. Bernard.
I was 10yrs old at the time, and I really had a great time with him.
I really like the St. with the whisky barrel around his neck:)

Thanks for all the links. Emmett is such a sweetheart but not the dog I saw on the seawall. From a distance the dog looked a bit like a bearded collie with black and white long hair so my guess is that he was a Pyrenean Mastiff. And his chair wasn't like that of Emmett's. His was more of a flat cart, like you'd find at a marina, and the interesting thing was that as he was being wheeled around the seawall there were two women in wheelchairs travelling with him. It was quite the site.
