My wife, our son, and I will be driving to San Antonio for Thanksgiving.

I'm interested in getting a thermo-eletric cooler and a Solar trickle charger to use for the trip.

I'm going to get one of those multi-plug thingies for the DC power outlet since we will also be pluging in cell phone chargers and a GPS unit.

Anyone have an product reccomendations or experiences to share?

Thanks!

Search through the forum for instructions on how to make the rear cigarette plug hot all the time. You can't trickle charge anything if the power is not on.
Look on eBay for something called a "VW 12v Auto Solar Panel". It's about $10 and can trickle charge your battery.

I just did my own search on eBay and there is a newer solar panel for $15 that connects to the OBD II port. That way you don't need to modify the rear plug.

My wife and I borrowed a Colman Thermoelectric cooler from my parents for our honey moon. It worked great.

The manual says to not put in any ice, but I found that if you really want your stuff cold, put some ice in there and make sure you drain it so the water does not go above the cooling element. Otherwise, you ice over the heat sink and the rest of the cooler does not stay as cool.
