Next November I am planning a trip to Southeast Asia. My friends have been there and have been pretty helpful w/ information on Thailand and Cambodia which is where i will start. My plan is to start in cambodia and work my way to Thailand and eventually to Indonesia and then Australia/New Zealand and finally back to the states. My question to you all is, looking at a map, it seems logical to get flights/ferries/boats from Cambodia>Thailand>Indonesia>Australia>New Zealand>(possibly hawaii)>back to California.

My friend who was there said flights are pretty cheap from Bangkok to Australia, but i dont want to skip out on what is in between. Plus i figure flying from Australia back to Hawaii then US or just straight to the US would be cheaper than flying from New Zealand.

If anyone has any knowledge of flying or travelling in between these areas i would love to hear some good advice. Please respond or email me w/ any information regarding my plan as i am open to feedback in any way.

Also, before i head out to CA for my flight over I am planning a road trip across the US for next summer. Starting in VA and working my way to CA w/ many stops in National Parks and beautiful scenery in between. I know all the major points, im just wondering for you west coasters where the hidden gems are. Point me in the right direction as i map out my quest.
