Looking to purchase the factory foglight kit for my '03 E, but the H&A site does not support purchases from an IP address from Canada. I want to have the fogs shipped to a friend in Michigan, but I cannot even go through the checkout process to pay and have them shipped. Any suggestions?

There really isn't any way that I can think of. We are only able to process credit cards online and can only process ones issued by US banks with matching US billing addresses. Sorry.

Why is it that almost any other business in the U.S. can accept Canadian credit cards?
Perhaps, if you wanted to increase your sales, you might find out what it is that enables the other businesses to accept international credit cards.

Somehow, I doubt the credit card thing is the issue. I wonder if it relates to the Honda USA/Honda Canada issue because H & A sells OEM parts. I know that there are restrictions on other products being ordered by Canadians in the US when there is a Canadian distributor (Burton snowboards are one example that comes to mind.

1. Our dealership agreement with American Honda doesn't allow us to export any of the accessories.
-That greatly limits the need for being able to process non-us credit cards.
-I do realize that some dealers do export. That is their choice to violate the agreement, we play by the rules. Our dealership isn't willing to risk losing the ability to sell new cars just to sell a few more accessories.
-The only way to get an agreement with Honda of Canada would be to open a dealership there.
2. There would be no warranty on items that left the US. If the item fails in any way there would be nothing we could do. We couldn't refund for it and we couldn't replace it.
-If you have someone forward the order to you and they don't check every little thing to make sure it is okay when they receive it, there would be nothing we could do in support of the order once it left the US.
-You may be comfortable with that, however I don't want to sell anything that we can't stand behind. So we strongly discourage people from doing that.
3. If items are ordered with a Canadian credit card and shipped to a US address the verification process to check on the shipping address with the Canadian credit card company would be time consuming, if even possible.
-We don't have the manpower for that.
-The credit card companies require us to verify that the address is on file. Otherwise anyone with your card number and billing address can order and have it shipped anywhere.
-I'm sure Canadians don't like having their credit cards used fraudulently with the orders shipped to someone they don't know in another country any more than US citizens do.
-Next time you hand your credit card to a waiter and they disappear with it for a couple minutes just imagine what they could be ordering online once they look up your address online to use as the billing address. Definately not saying waiters are theives just saying that it is that easy.
-There is a large amount of fraud in this business and much of what we sell can be resold very fast on ebay, so we have to verify everything otherwise the credit card companies take all the money for the charges back from us, leaving us with no merchandise and no money.
-With very thin profit margins it doesn't take much fraud to put a company out of business.
4. Sometimes things are different for Canadian models and US models.
-I know that some Hondas are built in Canada, however they are actually built to different specs with different features. This sometimes involves different wiring which can cause problems with some of the accessories.
-Since Honda doesn't want us shipping into Canada they would never give us a way to know what is the same and what is different.
-Even parts that are the same in the US and Canada have different part numbers.
5. Customs and Duties can add to the price of the items.
-We are often told to 'just label them as a gift' or 'business samples'. The problem is that is fraud. Do you really want to buy from a company that doesn't have a problem with committing fraud?
-There are probably legit ways to minimize the fees, but again since Honda won't let us ship there it wouldn't matter.
6. It isn't really that we don't want to sell more accessories just that we would much rather focus on doing what we do as well as we possibly can. There is a limited amount of time in any day.
-If we can get an order that came in at 3:55 on the 4:00 UPS truck then that is our goal. Tending to the customers that we are supposed to be selling to. Rather than poking corporate Honda with a stick.

Thanks so much for the explanation HandA. As fustratating as the situation is, it certainly helps to understand why it is the way it is.
And OuzoPower, thanks for the link.
Thanks H&A for the explanation as well, I appreciate it and I'm sure others do too. I have great respect for companies with morals and integrity. Thanks again.

Troy

The prices are good, but the shipping is intense: I put 4 rotors and brake pads in my bin and shipping is 131.00.:-(
