Could be - the Crossroad replaced the Element in Japan, and from this commercial, aimed at the Element demographic (or what Honda thinks the demographic is).

Meh, it's a baby Element. Doesn't work for what I bought the Element for.

Me either - glad I got an '08, with the sun roof gone in '09, and the true Element (if this is it's lame replacement) gone in '10.

This has been beaten to death several times here. The Crossroad isn't being brought to the US because it would compete too closely in other markets, whereas the Element was cut from Japan because it was actually too big.

I wonder if the E will be culled from the lineup completely then.

And I think all that's been said in this thread are the exact same rumors that were going around about the '09 and maybe even the '08. So far the E has not been discontinued or replaced with the Crossroad.

I don't think they would redesign for 2009 and then cut it in 2010. Anyways, the Element will not be cut for the reason of size. That wouldn't make sense since people can buy the Pilot. So for it being too big wouldn't make sense. Japan is tight and a lot of people there are opting for the Smart car. Besides, poeple still buy the Excursion, and it's a monster of a SUV. I believe Honda could possibly cut the Element when it will be up for another redesign in 2014 I believe. I think it's every 5 years or so.

Love my 08.......is it me or does the Crossroad look too similar to the redesigned Scion?? I'll take an E over either of them anyday.

Did anyone notice that the entire ad as shot in L.A. !?!

The three locations in the ad were, 1, downtown L.A. next to the Disney Concert hall. 2, Malibu 3, Santa Monica mountains.

So if the crossroad is the coming to the US why is the ad shot in Los Angeles?

worried about the fate of the E:confused:

Don't be worried, the ad was shot a LONG time ago, and I remember seeing pics somewhere over a year ago, maybe more, of the video shoot when the crossroad was not even out yet in japan.
The 09 element, i'm sure to bow at SEMA (cross fingers), will be around for a few years at least. Trust me, if they were going to disco it, they would NOT have re-did the sheet metal. You would have a better chance in winning the lottery than them cutting the element for 2010!
Take care,

The Crossroad appears to be about the size of the similar Scion. I don't expect it to replace the Element.

The Crossroad ad looks a lot more like the style the Element ads should have been. No stupid animals saying "I pinch."

If you look at the market place, the Element let Honda make the CR-v into the anit-mini-van, mini-van. The Element gets billed as the more rugged crossover that you can get messy. This Crossroad looks like it'd be placed somewhere in between the Fit and the Civic but probably priced between the Civic and the Element and marketed to 20 somethings (used to first time drivers).

I'm predicting that manuals will only be available on sports cars in the near future. Most drivers don't care about the control a manual gives them (while I have little experience with a manual, I can vouch for that arguement).

did they redesign it for 09? I thought it was just cosmetic changes.

Hmmm... Still not convinced we won't see the Crossroad here at some point, given the widening articulation of the cross-over segment. The Crossroad would fill a niche of small, basic utility that the CR-V has outgrown and the E is somewhat large for. If the Fit and xB are an indication, SoCal buyers would pretty much flock to it.

'Tis worth noting that the CR-V was initially a JDM model deemed too small to appeal to North American buyership. The success of the RAV4 showed otherwise, and I suspect that Nissan's Cube -- due here in 2010 -- may open a similar door for the Crossroad (if the xB hasn't already).
...why is the ad shot in Los Angeles?Lots of Asian-market stuff is produced here, partly for the region's expertise, partly for a wide diversity of locales. As a resident of downtown L.A. I see "running footage" being shot quite a bit -- most recently for the Kia Soul (http://reviews.cnet.com/4326-11443_7-6639383-1.html?tag=mncol).
